2025 version of 2013's Another Chance by Ariadne Wayne.

Cassie Warren was the smart girl people poked fun at in school

When Patrick Cross, the most popular boy in school, and her former best friend declares his interest in her—she’s unsure how to react at first. After a short but intense romance, she’s left devastated when he betrays her at a party.

Patrick can’t remember what happened that night, and has no idea why the girl he loves no longer wants anything to do with him. Going their separate ways feels final, but when Cassie’s life falls apart, they’re brought back together.

But so much time has elapsed, and Cassie holds back. Patrick’s more determined to get her back than she realises—this time for good.

Ok, so this one was a letdown. Only because it was a miscommunication and had an irresponsible FMC. Then my pet peeve of the FMC never telling the MMC she had his child. Everything comes out in the open 14 years later when the H Patrick sees the h Cassie in a hospital where she's just found out that her partner Mark has terminal cancer. Poor Mark. Got a woman he knew who was also in love with another man, and was unable to have his own children. Now I call the FMC irresponsible because she had plenty of time to tell the H he had a child. There was absolutely no excuse for her selfishness. It doesn't matter to me that she had all these traumas that held her back from telling him. They were just excuses. 14 years !!! Anyways, so in the beginning she walks in on H supposedly cheating on her with his ex. But he's clearly out of it when he sees her walk into the room. He was happy to see her and even calls out her name. You'd think if you had a braincell you'd think, "Wait! Something's not quite right here." But no she just leaves. He tries to contact her, but she just ignores him the whole time. Pissed me off. Then 14 years later after all is said and done, the h runs into his ex who tells her that oh you know she just put vallum in his beer drugging him to make it look like he was cheating. The author completely glossed over it, and they have a laugh like everything's cool. Wtaf? I don't know how y'all do it down under, but that's a felony. Suffice to say I didn't enjoy this nor do I recommend it because it had everything I HATE in a book.

This story is the true definition of a second-chance romance. Cassie and Patrick were childhood best friends whose bond slowly drifted apart in high school. Just as they found their way back to each other, a heartbreaking mix of miscommunication, betrayal, and misunderstanding tore them apart right before graduation.
More than ten years later, a chance encounter forces them to confront the past and decide whether the love they once shared can be rekindled—or if their wounds run too deep.
There are some genuinely heavy, emotional moments in this book that had me in tears. You can’t help but feel everything Cassie endures on her journey. A powerful, deeply moving read.

Another Chance is the story of Cassie and Patrick and the epic love story that they share. It starts off with childhood best friends who are inseparable. So with out spilling spoilers they rekindle their friendship and become more, life happens and they lose touch, Cassie meets Mark, they fall in love, he becomes sick, and his dying wish is that Cassie and Patrick rekindle their relationship. They rekindle their relationship and become so happy. I highly recommend you read this book and I give it 5 stars.

Absolutely heartfelt and beautiful read. Knowing that more than second chances can happen. So glad these two got theirs eventually. I love Wendys writings.
