Mature Catholic men, married or single, may be curious about the ministry of the deacon in the Church; might they be called to ordained ministry? In this book the ministry of the deacon, its requirements, and the nature of the ministry are presented in great depth, but in language that is easily understood. In some cases, a married man's wife may be sensing a call for her husband. She may be the initial source of very idea that her husband might well be called. Pastors may realize that there are men in his parish who appear to be potential candidates for the ministry of deacon. In each case, the man himself, his wife, or his pastor may each ponder the call to serve in ordained ministry. This book is a great place to start in the discernment process. It is based on the official teachings and canons (laws) of the Roman Catholic Church, as well as the experience of a married deacon over twenty-six years.
