Rah: Songs of Moses

Rate this book
Solae loved a man who never existed but found one who made her forget her heart was ever broken. For years, she built a life around Rah’s promises and was blind to the darkness he kept hidden behind charm. But when one secret shatters the illusion, she discovers the real Rah is ruthless, calculating, and capable of anything. When the truth finally surfaces, things become malicious and life-threatening. Left shattered, Solae isn’t just heartbroken; she’s fighting to hold on to her children, freedom, and sanity. And that’s when Priest steps in. Priest becomes what Rah pretended to be and claims her in a way Rah tried to claim her pain.

Aaliyah thought she was Rah’s everything, but she was just a part of his performance. She loved him loudly, but she didn’t know she was never the only one. When the truth comes out, the heartbreak shatters her, but that’s when Fabe steps in. He stops protecting Rah’s image and starts protecting her. In Fabe, she finds something she never had with the right to be chosen.

Before the world knew his name, Moses was already Kahlani’s hero. He chased his dreams with one hand and held his family down with the other. His talents were in the streets, but Rah pushed his real talents behind the mic. Rah was supposed to be his trusted cousin and manager. Instead, Rah pushed him from music to mayhem. One violent night reveals the monster Rah has always been, and Moses walks away from the mic. But fate has a way of calling back those born with fire.

They all thought they escaped Rah’s chaos, but monsters don’t disappear; they bide their time.

Rah is an urban romantic suspense about deception, survival, and the kind of love that doesn’t just hold you it heals you. It is a re-release of N.A.S from 2014, and both parts of the series have been combined into this standalone with a lot of changes to the storyline.

Author of Urban Chick Lit, Erotica, and Contemporary Urban Fiction... Jessica N. Watkins was born April 1st in Chicago, Illinois. She obtained a Bachelors of Arts with Focus in Psychology from DePaul University and Masters of Applied Professional Studies with focus in Business Administration from the like institution. Working in Hospital Administration for the majority of her career, Watkins has also been an author of fiction literature since the young age of nine. Eventually she used writing as an outlet during her freshmen year of high school as a single parent: “In the third grade I entered a short story contest with a fiction tale of an apple tree that refused to grow despite the efforts of the darling main character. My writing evolved from apple trees to my seventh and eighth grade classmates paying me to read novels I had written about kids our age living the lives our parents wouldn’t dare let us”. At the age of twenty-eight, Watkins’ chronicles have matured into steamy, humorous, and realistic tales of women's literature. She hopes that The Epitome of Femistry series will successfully emulate ideal femininity while tackling stereotypes, familiar heartache, and relatable distress in a humorous, sophisticated, and erotic fashion.

I need to have a conversation with EVERYONE after this because WHAT did I just experience 😮‍💨🖤

First of all....Rah
JAIL. IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT PASS GO.😤

This man is manipulative, narcissistic, and calculated in a way that will have you questioning every red flag you’ve ever ignored. He doesn’t just hurt people....he destroys them. And I’m not even being dramatic.

But what makes this story hit so hard isn’t just him… it’s the people around him.
Solae, Aaliyah, Kahlani… these women went THROUGH it. Watching them love, lose, break, and then slowly rebuild themselves? yeah… I felt that in my chest 😭🖤

And then enter the men who actually deserve them:
Priest. Fabe. Moses.

BABE… the contrast was LOUD.
✨ one man breaks you
✨ another shows you what love is supposed to feel like

This story is layered, emotional, and messy in a way that feels real. Like “I know someone like this” real. And that’s what makes it hit even harder.

Pierre Manhattan and Eboni Majesti did their thing 👏🏽
The emotion, the tone, the DRAMA

✨ betrayal
✨ healing
✨ survival
✨ choosing yourself

This is not a light listen.
This is a “pause, process, and come back” kind of story 😮‍💨
But if you like your books messy, emotional, and full of characters you’ll either love or want to fight…
yeah… you need this.

Rah: Songs of Moses is an expansive and emotionally charged urban romantic suspense novel built around deception, fractured relationships, and long-term consequences of manipulation. Jessica N. Watkins constructs a layered narrative where multiple character arcs intersect through a central source of control and betrayal.

The emotional core of the story lies in its exploration of trust and disillusionment. Each character experiences Rah’s influence differently, which adds depth and complexity to the overall narrative structure. The shift from illusion to truth is gradual but impactful, shaping both tension and emotional payoff.

What makes the story compelling is its scale, multiple perspectives, intertwined histories, and evolving relationships that move between harm, protection, and healing. This creates a dense emotional landscape that keeps the reader engaged throughout.

A complex, high-stakes romantic suspense story that will appeal to readers who enjoy multi-layered relationships, emotional intensity, and long-form character driven drama.

I love to this hate this man as he makes me frown and side eye at the same time. Be careful who you lay down with as they will be with you forever. Solae has two children by our MMC and novel titleholder, Rah but he turns out to be a demon who is from the under parts of Hell and a lieutenant for the devil himself. No spoilers but Rah is the worst part of humanity who only loves himself. Jessica Watkins you gave him no redeemable attributes.

Let’s not forget the amount of descriptive, vivid sexual escapades, so we can enjoy the tawdry smut. The male narrator has a beautiful voice yet it was more of a corporate executive sound and not an urban drug footman. I still recommend others to read this as the underlying story is a fun ride of “I love to hate this man”.

Thank you to DreamScape Media and NetGalley for the ARC / ALC in exchange for an honest review. #Rah #NetGalley

Now I made this book a DNF because of the narrators. What thee hell! The male voice. Absolutely not. But what I got from the first 3 chapters I toxicity, clown town, hot mess express by a manipulative, self loathing man whos actually a nobody yet using what he can from everybody. Go to Webster & uoull
Find ya boy Rah pictured right next to the work “narcissistic”. That’s all.
