Grade-A Plot Hole is the first in the Slow Burn Summer contemporary romance duology from best-selling author, Emma Jackson, sure to have readers kicking their feet as sparks fly in the city that never sleeps.
Get ready for unrepentant banter and yearning in this heartfelt summer romance.
Stephen is on a very personal mission to find his father as per the wishes in their mother's will. But he has no idea where to start, not that he's going to tell anyone that...
When Elle, native New Yorker, daughter of a detective and desperate for a distraction from the novel she's been struggling to write, offers to help, it feels like the perfect solution.
Except the last time she spoke to Stephen he thought they'd be seeing the New Year in together and instead she stood him up and sold him out! Stephen's big enough and been around the block enough times to understand that all is fair in love and war, isn't he?
But when Stephen accepts her offer and they begin their search across the city, it soon becomes clear that the weather isn't the only thing that's heating up.
Perfect for fans of Emily Henry, Tarah DeWitt and Carrie Elks
Book Two in the Slow Burn Summer duology, Should Have Seen That Coming, will conclude Stephen and Elle's romance (HEA guaranteed!) Due for release in summer 2026.
A devoted bookworm and secret-story-scribbler since she was 6 years old, Emma joined the Romantic Novelists’ Association on their New Writers’ Scheme at the beginning of 2019, determined to focus on her writing. She has been overwhelmed by the encouragement given by the published authors and fellow NWS members who are part of the RNA and highly recommends joining to any romance writers looking for support and friendly guidance (there are some bursaries available).
When she’s not running around after her two daughters and trying to complete her current work-in-progress, Emma loves to read, bake, catch up on binge-watching TV programmes with her partner and plan lots of craft projects that will inevitably end up unfinished. A MISTLETOE MIRACLE was her bestselling debut novel, published by Orion Dash, followed by SUMMER IN THE CITY and ONE KISS BEFORE CHRISTMAS will be released this November 2nd.
Also writes fantasy under Emma S. Jackson. THE DEVIL'S BRIDE was published by DarkStroke in February 2020.
This is the first half of a story that used to be one book (Summer in the City). I read that old version in 2020 and had a very positive (if rather vague) memory of it so, since I've heard it was being revised and extended, I couldn't wait to start reading it again. I'm now pleased to report it was a real treat. As I said last time, I wish I could read the FMC's books (she writes cosy mysteries). Reading about her writing was one of the things I most liked in this book, along with the scenes with her numerous siblings and those in which she helped the MMC search for his long-absent father. Also, I loved how funny both MCs could be, not even just in the banter kind of dialogues, but in the narration too. That helped with the one thing that ortherwise could have "ruined" the whole for me, as I'm not a fan of 1st person, especially for dual points of view (that I love in 3rd person). Now, of course, I'm looking forward to (re)reading the second part, that will be (re)published in August.
To make sure everything's clear, let's add that this Slow Burn Summer duology is linked to another book, A Mistletoe Miracle, in which both the MCs of this second story already appeared (the FMCs are best friends and the MMCs are brothers). It's set 6 months earlier and some events are mentioned in this book, so it's probably best to read A Mistletoe Miracle first... but I didn't know that yet in 2020 and it wasn't really a problem (I just read it later).
Enjoyed this book immensely. Stephen and Elle were wonderful characters and I loved the sizzle and slow burn between them. Looking forward to reading the next instalment later this year.
