About the author

Dr ROSIE DUB is the author of the novels: Flight, Between Worlds, and Gathering Storm, which is under development as a feature film. Her non-fiction articles and short stories are published in Australia, the UK and the US.

Rosie’s writing and teaching are deeply rooted in her PhD research, which examined the function of story as a developmental tool, exploring how it can serve as a vehicle for psychological and spiritual transformation. She shares her research in a twice monthly Substack newsletter, Alchemy of Story and in her Alchemy of Story workshops which teach writing not just as a craft, but as a creative act of remembering. Through her writing, workshops, courses, and mentoring, Rosie guides writers, seekers, and change-makers to reconnect with their inner stories, uncover the deeper narratives that drive them, and reimagine their lives with clarity and purpose.

While this is well-written, it is a pretty standard run of the mill girl discovers hidden abilities, fulfills a prophesy, embarks on a difficult soul-searching journey and gets a guy story. It's so predictable that any tension that surfaces is soon diffused. There are no surprises here. Still, for those who love this done to death plot, you'll be happy with Dub's effort. Her characters are excellent as is her narrative.

From the get go I was hooked on this book. The concept of reincarnation and past lives and their repercussions interfering with present ones has always been a concept that I feel isn't explored enough in well written stories these days. I read this book fairly quickly, in two sittings, which shows just how much I couldn't put it down. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good supernatural thriller.

at first, I had absolutely no sympathy for the main character, Fern. She seemed whiny, and ungrateful for everything that people were trying to do for her. she was unmotivated, and bored with life. Later on, her character started to pick up as she became involved in supernatural happenings, and then it dissipated again as the book turned into a generic love story, and confusing mess of supernatural ick.

This one was so intriguing. It was a little hard to crack, to begin with, but then I found myself being pulled along by it. I particularly enjoyed the latter portion of the book, the last 150 pages or so. Even though it is well trodden territory, what with supernatural elements and such it is told in an original way, and that is worth the ticket price.

The Excitement of this ARC copy that i got from Harper Collins Publishers is killing me. *Stab stab stab*
Look out for this one people, Feb 2012, that's what it says on my copy! I'm reading you straight after i get my head around To kill a Mockingbird.

This book was different from what I had expected, in the best possible way. It was thought-provoking and engaging and the ending was not trite (which it could have been very easily). I found the characters self-indulgent at moments, but not so much so that it was unrealistic or annoying.
