This novel is an impressive debut from a first-time author. From the opening pages, the story immediately draws you in and keeps you intrigued right through to the very end. The plot is layered with many different parts that slowly come together, making the mystery unfold in a satisfying way. Overall, it’s a captivating mystery that shows great promise from a new author, and I was genuinely wowed by how engaging it was.

Now, knowing this is a first time book, I could probably bump it to a 3.5. I found this book to be a trudge. While the concept of a cold case and a small town being wrapped up in all kinds of secrets is a great premise; I read two other books in between finishing this.
I picked up the book because it had been recommended as a fast read.
This is not a fast read.
While the end has some interesting reveals.
I guessed the biggest question the novel asks not even partway through reading.
