1692;: Screams Of Silence

Rate this book
Ben and Molly Preston have been married for a quiet forty-one years when they come across an even quieter homeless girl and her dog on a freezing January night in Salem Village, 1692.

As the community around them descends into chaos, their lives are suddenly filled with noise - where only the screams of silence of the innocent souls of Salem are louder.

I stepped a little out of my comfort zone to try this first time author’s book. I’m usually a mystery buff but I enjoy historical fiction as well. I was quickly pulled in to the narrative by the unique characters and the writing style that just felt like I was hearing a story. I loved the interaction of the characters in the time period. The author was very good at making you feel what his characters endured. There were parts where I know I held my breath but I won’t spoil that for you. The unique way that Matthew Grim tied together some modern sayings and actions to the time of the Salem witch trials is a credit to his creativity and ability to span different eras. I would highly recommend giving this one a try. I am looking forward to reading Book 2.

If your interest in the Salem witch trials, or have the urge to learn about then this is the book for you. If you don’t this book is still an excellent read. You’ll love, hate, and care for the characters in this story. You’ll get a grasp on how ruthless and evil these trials were, and how people would retaliate against them, and cope with there horrible situation. This book was an easy but long read with a deep meaning. I have dyslexia and can honestly say I’ve never read a book as smooth as this one. It was a perfect book in my opinion, and I recommend this to anyone looking for an excellent easy read.

I read this wonderful page turner. The book brings to light a time where every day people are labeled witches simply because they were perceived as different & unjustly judged. Couldn’t put it down.
