Matteo Bellandi is the mafia’s most feared operative.
Yet he traded blood-soaked streets for the quiet life of an artist. He swore he was done with La Mano Nera, convinced his soul was beyond saving after a past love paid the ultimate price for his sins.
But a good man’s crime never stays buried, and when one art deal results in a ruthless new boss, Falco labels Matteo a traitor, the ghost he buried rises again. Now the city is a powder an all-out gang war with a vengeful Greek crime family is imminent, and the only path to survival runs straight through the chaos he sought to escape.
Lauryn Hall, the stunning art dealer with a secret agenda, was the reckless distraction Matteo couldn’t afford. She was meant to be his fleeting chance at a normal life, instead, she's the fuse that lights his world on fire.
When his walls finally crumble under their forbidden desire, Matteo discovers the brutal One that threatens to destroy the empire he left behind. Betrayal cuts deeper than any bullet, shattering his last hope for redemption.
But as the net tightens, their roles flip. Lauryn becomes the hunted, and Matteo—the man who warned her to run—realizes that saving her may be the only way to save himself.
Caught between Falco’s vengeful assassins, the merciless Greeks, and a desperate, compromised Federal agent, Matteo and Lauryn are running on borrowed time. To protect the woman who betrayed him, Matteo must embrace the very monster—Il Corvo—he spent years trying to kill.
But in a life built on lies and bloodshed, can the Raven finally find peace, or will his final act of devotion be the one crime with too high a penalty?
I enjoyed a broken man’s promise which was Matteo and Lauryn’s story. It was an intriguing read. I received an early copy. And voluntarily leaving this review.
