Across the country, countless Christians show up on Sundays, serve when asked, and try to be "good people." But deep down, many wonder if this is all there is to faith. They believe in Jesus-but don't always know how to follow Him.
Kinda Christian is for anyone who's felt stuck in spiritual neutral. With biblical insight and real-life stories, pastor Roger Ross offers a clear, grace-filled path from cultural Christianity to the kind of life Jesus actually invites us to live.
Many people in church are not actual disciples-they're cultural Christians. That's because most Christians can't define what a disciple is, let alone become one. This book makes clear what a disciple is and then guides you in how to become one.
A disciple is someone who loves Jesus above all else and loves the world the way Jesus does.
Built around six key practices-Glory, Grace, Group, Growth, Giftedness, and Generosity-this book helps you move from going through the motions to living with purpose, joy, and power.
Whether you're a churchgoer ready to go deeper or a pastor longing to see real transformation in your people, Kinda Christian offers the clarity, encouragement, and challenge we all need to grow.
I highly recommend this book. Once you start it, you will see what I mean. Where is your relationship with Jesus at? Where you need to go? How do you get there? What do I need to do to be a disciple? What is a disciple? Roger weaves together stories, other resources, and his own knowledge, experience, and insight into guide for everyone regardless of where you are win your relationship with Jesus. I love Roger’s “voice” in this book. He “speaks” with a genuine tenderness with a desire to connect. Roger gives this sentence to keep our eyes on the goal. “A disciple loves Jesus above all else and loves the world as Jesus does.” Such power in one simple sentence. I bet everyone who reads will be moved differently depending on their circumstances. I know you will be moved regardless. My main takeaway from this book? I have work to do. With this book and the resources offered in this book, I have tools to dive deeper. Final thought - I can’t share all the lines I highlighted but I do want to share these two quotes because I think the need to be heard at this moment loud and clear. “Jesus showed us that the seed of change can only take root in rich soil of acceptance. To witness true transformation in others, we must first embrace them fully - just as they are.” “We don’t have to agree with people or approve of everything they do to love them. Jesus certainly didn’t”
