All it takes is one small voice to make space for everyone on the train.
All aboard! The morning train is bustling with passengers chatting, laughing, and telling their favorite jokes—until a great green crocodile squeezes into the car. Everyone grumbles, but no one dares to say a word… except a tiny chick named Peep.
With a brave heart and gentle manners, Peep steps forward to talk to the newcomer—and discovers that the crocodile isn’t scary at all, just shy and kind. Together, they show the other passengers that when we treat others as we wish to be treated, amazing things can happen.
Told in lively rhyme with bright, whimsical illustrations, There’s a Crocodile on This Train! celebrates courage, empathy, and the Jewish teaching from Pirkei Avot (2:10): “May the honor of your fellow be as precious to you as your own honor.”
A perfect read-aloud for classrooms, family story time, or any journey that invites new friends along the way.
There is a Crocodile on this Train is an adorable rhyming story about not making judgements based on appearances and treating people with respect. When a giant crocodile boards the train, stretches out and promptly falls asleep, everyone else is crowded into the remaining space. Everyone complains about the inconvenience, but they are too scared of the crocodile to approach him. When he is approached and asked politely if he could make a little room, he graciously lets everyone climb aboard and finish the ride on top of him. Amit Trainin's story shows how important it is to show respect to others. Young readers gain a great lesson, and will enjoy the rhymes. But it is Trainin's illustrations that make this book a delight. Each page is filled with details of all the animals, playing and talking. I loved looking for the ants as they carried and slowly ate a popsicle. Kids will have fun searching for the details too.
This precious picture book will charm children as well as adults with its humorous rhyming text and bright, bold illustrations. Based on Pirkei Avot (2:10) “May the honor of your fellow be as precious as your own,” readers will join a group of animal friends riding a train. But when a crocodile climbs on board, he fills the space, forcing the others to cram together. No one will speak up until a bird, the tiniest animal of them all, has the courage to talk to the crocodile. The results show children how important it is to communicate and treat others with kindness and respect. A fabulous book for ages 2 and up.
