A thoroughly enjoyable and hopelessly convoluted detective story in the style of Raymond Chandler, set in modern day Tijuana. The coincidences and strange connections fall as readily as Juan Peralta, the private eye, drops his pants. It’s also very funny. And there are plenty of clues in retrospect. Hard to tell whether this is meant to be taken seriously, but it’s a hell of a ride. And the portrait of almost laughable corruption in Tijuana is indelible.
