இறுதி வரி சொடுக்குத் திருப்பம் என்பது சுஜாதாவுக்கே உரித்தான அநாயாச உத்தி. அம்மாதிரிக் கதைகளாகவே குமுதத்தில் 1986-ல் ‘தூண்டில் கதைகள்’ எழுதி, வாசகர்களின் மனத்தைக் கொக்கி போட்டு ஈர்த்த சுஜாதா, 1995- ல் ஆனந்த விகடனில் ‘புதிய தூண்டில் கதைகள்’ கதைக்கொத்து எழுதிக் கொள்ளையடித்தார். பிறகு 2006-ல் மறுபடியும் குமுதத்தில், ‘மீண்டும் தூண்டில் கதைகள்’ என அவர் வாசகர்களை வசீகரித்து வாய் பிளக்க வைத்த பத்து கதைகள் இந்நூலில்.

About the author

Sujatha was the allonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan, Author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.

As an engineer, he supervised the design and production of the electronic voting machine (EVM) during his tenure at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a machine which is currently used in elections throughout India. As an author he inspired many authors, including Balakumaran, Madhan.

This book is a very good collection of short stories written Sujatha.

But, I write here to clarify the difference between the words "allonym" and "pseudonym," as, in your introduction about the author, you have mentioned Sujatha is the allonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan - which is NOT correct. Pseudonym is pen name, whereas, an allonym is the name of an important person in history that is taken by a writer as a pseudonym.


Sujatha (S Rangarajan) used his wife's name to write stories in Tamil. So, this is just a pseudonym and NOT an allonym.

I really loved one story in this collection. My rating is especially for that one. The other stories are good, worth a read.
My mum loved the whole book, so maybe it's for the previous generation.
