Justin Boote's "Entity" is the first entry in his "The Demons Among Us" series, and if this book is any indication, the series is gonna be a blast! It's crammed with demonic possessions and demonic attacks, it's filled to the brim with mystery and creepiness, and even has a couple of (disastrous) attempts at exorcising the demon! It hooked me in from the start (a very strong opening, almost straight out of "The Exorcist"), and took me places no demon horror book should be allowed to go: in this story, EXORCISMS DON'T WORK! The possessed boy's poor parents try everything, from doctors and psychiatrists to Anglican priests and demonologist vigilantes, and guess what: close but no cigar, as boomers would say (I think lol)!

The book is intense: you can really feel for the parents, get annoyed with the kid (at least I was), and admire the tenacity of the demonologist Terry and his wife Agatha, who don't seem to take no for an answer. Terry has been deeply traumatized by the death of his little sister when she got possessed by a powerful demon, and is after revenge. Agatha has also had sinister encounters with demons exploiting her memories of her little daughter, who met an unfortunate end at the hands of her own father. So many unresolved issues! Add the new case of 9-year-old Danny's possession, who keeps going through locked doors, floating around cackling madly (and sleeping a lot, especially when one wants answers LOL), and you have the perfect recipe for disaster!

I'm still thinking about the ending. It's neither ambiguous nor incomplete, but its wider significance still eludes me. It's a great way to make room for a sequel though! Recommended!

We follow Terry Robertson, who witnessed his sister’s brutal possession as a child and has dedicated his life to hunting down the demon responsible—Ba’al. Meanwhile, Pete and Janet Henderson are desperate for a fresh start after a house fire, but their new home quickly becomes a battleground as their son Danny begins experiencing terrifying episodes: waking up outside with no explanation, relentless nosebleeds, and the creeping presence of something deeply wrong. Janet’s visions and mental decline add a heartbreaking layer, and the parents’ mounting helplessness truly got under my skin. Their fear, confusion, and emotional exhaustion felt painfully real, giving the story more weight than your standard “demon in the walls” tale.

This is demonic possession turned up to 11—fast-paced, intense, and gleefully unhinged in all the right ways.

Justin throws you headlong into this story from the outset. A girl possessed. An entity lurking. Then it comes back for more.
This story of possession was hauntingly creepy. Strange things happen to Janet and Danny. Things they can’t explain. Things they can’t rid themselves of.
The twist as per with Justin had me shook! This is definitely a must read! Entity built up the anxiety and fear leaving my gut churning!

I beta read this for Justin and I ADORED the first part. I wasn’t a fan of the ending and spoke with Justin about it and it’s since been changed. So I leapt at the chance to get the new version as an arc.
The opening chapters establish a chilling backstory that echoes throughout the plot, then shift to the Henderson family’s new start in a house that hides something malignant. Strange events start to occur, from sleepwalking to shadowy figures…….
The atmosphere is claustrophobic and downright terrifying, the scares are second to none, and the emotional beats, especially the parental terror and guilt feel authentic.
I also loved the little nods to some of Justin’s other work, naming Northgate hospital (the ghosts of Northgate is one of my all time favourites, now alongside this one!)
The ending leaves threads open for the rest of The Demons Among Us series, hinting that the real battle between faith and evil has only begun.
Overall, this is creepy as hell, tense, and emotionally charged, Entity succeeds as both a character-driven story and a traditional horror. Not many books genuinely freak me out and truly scare me…. But once again, Justin has managed to do just that.
Fans of The Conjuring, The Exorcist, and The Rite will eat this up.
ALL THE STARS!

Was nice reading a book from this author that didn't require a sick bucket next to me 🤣 I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Here, we follow a family of three who start to experience weird and unexplainable things. Little Danny has a new invisible shadow friend. But is he really friendly?
Once again I cannot wait until book 2

I had the pleasure of reading this book 2 times. the first it had a different ending and they ended up being aliens trying to abduct the mother and son. I reread the new ending and I liked it as well as the Alien spin. it was a great take on the demons trying to abduct the mother and son. is a great story. Love love loved this

When the only son of a family starts demonstrating odd behavior, experiencing impossible bouts of sleepwalking, and extreme nose bleeds in an otherwise perfectly healthy child, his parents are left searching for answers. When the mother begins to also start exhibiting similar problems, coupled with some supernatural events, they desperately reach out to the church for help. Upon the churches investigation, they determine that the problems the family faces aren’t meeting the standard levels of demonic possession and call in a couple who have more experience in dealing with more obscure and challenging cases. Unfortunately, this couple already has a personal agenda of their own, and the struggle between helping the family, and seeking revenge for their own vendettas blurs the lines of right and wrong for all parties involved.

“Entity” starts off with a bang! The prologue sets such an amazingly brutal and agonizing tone to the rest of the story, that immediately sinks its razor sharp hooks into the reader and embeds them painfully deeper with each page turn.

Justin Boote does an eerily satisfying job of building the atmosphere of a struggling family and then twists the screws on them slowly like a vise, dissecting their unstable life together and then creating an escalating level of further instability and frustration. I felt bad for this family, and was finding myself yearning for any snippet of resolve. Fortunately, Boote maintains a substantial stranglehold on their plight, which is exactly what creates the foundation of a solid horror story, and doesn’t let up on their suffering, at times creating a sense of false hope that generally lets both the characters, and reader, down. This is not a happy ending type story.

What I loved most about Boote’s writing was the visions it created in my own head. There were multiple unsettling moments where the parents were catching split second glimpses of something, but they could never quite tell what they were seeing. Was it truly there? Was it not? Boote’s approach to these instances sent literal chills down my arms, standing the hairs up on end each time.

My one standing hang up with the story that kept this one from being a 5 star read was that there felt like mild stretches when the same problems plagued the family as they had experienced in previous chapters. I simply found myself feeling as if I had read of similar problems happening to the the family a few different times, and even though those things were disturbing, amping up the physical and supernatural elements over the entirety of the story would have increased my heart rate substantially.

Overall though “Entity” was a wickedly fun read. I am excited for the next book in this series, and will be picking it up as soon as it becomes available. I can’t wait to see where Boote takes this story next.

If you want a book brimming with dread and despair, then this is the book for you. It's hard to read this book without feeling the helplessness that Pete and Janet would feel, wanting to help their son but being powerless to do so. The characters are believable and well fleshed out, and the book ending will leave you crying out for more (good thing it's book one of a series!). If you're a fan of Justin's Soul Searchers or like demonic possession in your horror, then you're bound to enjoy this one.

Just remember, if there's something weird in your neighbourhood, who you gonna call? Terry ofc!

Entity is book one of the Demons Among Us series by fantastic Justin Boote. This time, Justin dives into demonic possession of a helpless 9-year-old! Justin never disappoints, and I was excited to jump in to see what he had in store for us outside of his hardcore splatterpunk realm.

You barely have time to buckle in before Justin takes you into the lives of the Henderson family. Pete and Janet, with their young son, Danny, are happy to move into their new home, but soon things take a turn for the weird. Danny seems to be experiencing disturbances during the night - waking up in strange places, some very dangerous, and having horrible nosebleeds. Soon after, Janet begins to decline as well. Desperate for answers, they reach out with some terrifying results.

I just admit it: one of my favorite horror genres is demonic possession. It has stuck with me since I was little, watching The Exorcist for the first time and having nightmares for months. There is just something about it that gets under your skin. Not being able to see your attacker is horrifying. Justin does a fantastic job of creating the same intense atmosphere, keeping you on the edge of your seat. If this is any indication of how the series will go, I am excited to dig into it further.

Thanks to Justin Boote for gifting me an eARC of Entity. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Justin Boote is such an exceptional author with an incredible ability to write books that span across several genres!

Entity, the first book in 'The Demons Among Us' series, was unsettling and unnerving. It follows the story of Danny, a young boy who has been possessed. Entity has a modern and realistic take to how parents would react in this unnatural situation. This, in my opinion has not been portrayed well in possesion novels, until Entity!
Unfortunately, this is no small level possession that Danny is experiencing, and the church cannot seem to help. So in comes our demonologist, Terry, who has a personal history with possessions and a certain high ranking demon.

An extremely enjoyable novel that will have you on the edge of your seat with your skin crawling right until the final chapter!! I was so tense the entire time and genuinely unsettled at certain parts. I was hooked from the very first chapter and sucked in right till the very end, disturbed and horrified right the way through.

Boote has an incredible way with words, truly allowing readers to experience the whirlwind of emotions our characters are going through. So many scenes were terrifying and are literal nightmare fuel!

I cannot wait to dive into part two!! Big shoutout to the wonderful author that is Justin Boote and their incredibly dark and twisted mind!

Thank you for an ARC of Entity, all views and opinions are mine and have been left voluntarily.

Finished this up this weekend and loved it! It was giving me Poltergeist/The Exorcist vibes in the first part... creepy kid, something definitely not of this world going on, terrified, exhausted parents at their breaking point trying to find answers and help, situation escalating quickly..... then part 2 hit HARD! I've been a horror reader since childhood so I feel desensitized reading horror a lot of times, but this honestly did make me uneasy reading it, especially at night when it was quiet! I swear I was hearing things outside my window that weren't the normal sounds I'm used to, so needless to say, the book definitely got into my head! It made feel like reading the book was opening some portal I wasn't meant to open and letting bad things into my world! So basically, 5 stars, haha, because I was craving a true creep out, and this delivered!! Also, the last few chapters floored it! Without any spoilers, it was a refreshing take on the often overdone possession trope. No head spinning/green vomit spewing/flesh sizzling from holy water stuff to see here, but genuine stuff of nightmares that are somehow subtle and outrageous all at once. Which to me makes it scarier because it feels more realistic, not Hollywood smoke in mirrors! So good!

A fantastic start to a new series, which makes me eager for the next, Entity is full of creepy moments that up the dread right to the end.

The story follows a couple and their 9 year old son, Danny, who have just moved into a new house after their previous house burned down. It's not long before Danny begins to be manipulated by a malicious spirit with the aim of something far more sinister then the standard possession. Janet too is affected by the spirit, seeing shadows, things that aren't there, voices and nosebleeds, not to mention the sleepwalking that takes hold of both her and Danny. Eventually, they call in the service of a demonologist and his partner who both have their own demons (both figuratively and literally) to deal with as well as the one the family face.

The buildup takes its time but does so in a way that really got under my skin as events progressed. The characters in the family all have their flaws, and affected the decisions they made (though frustrating at times). The descriptive writing was a highlight as was the pacing throughout, keeping me on my toes and itching to find out what would happen next. The ending to me at least was unexpected but it definitely made me look forward to the rest of the series.

For those who love a good possession/haunting story, this one shouldn't be missed. Even if you're not, you'll have a great time with this one.

The Entity is the first book in The Demon series by Justin Boote. This book brought me back to my childhood and how I felt when I first saw The Exorcist, which was very scary for me. The book starts out with Terry, a young boy, watching helplessly as his sister was possessed by a demonic monster. Terry, grief stricken, vows revenge. Years later, Danny, a young boy, and his parents, move into a new house, which has a life of its own. Danny and his mom start to act unnatural and see things that no one else can. Supernatural things have taken over and the church is brought in to see if they can help. However, the church realizes it’s more than they can handle and a couple experienced with supernatural possession is brought in to help. Are they able to save Danny and his family? Justin’s description made me feel as if I was in the house…the chill in the room and the evil all around. I highly recommend this book in Justin’s new series, which will be available on Amazon November 28th. Pre-order now!

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Supernatural isn’t typically my genre at all, but Entity (book 1 of The Demons Among Us) had my heart absolutely racing, a total page-turner that I couldn’t put down! Justin Boote has this killer way of dropping you right into the heart of the horror; I felt like I was right there in the room, witnessing that intense exorcism alongside Danny. The way he describes his so-called “friend” is chillingly spot-on, and I loved how Danny picks up on that creepy shift in the entity’s desires, like it’s suddenly zeroed in on him with this dark, obsessive need. It makes the whole supernatural vibe feel way too real.
The writing is descriptive but never gets boring or drags; Boote knows precisely when to paint a vivid picture and when to let the tension build. You really feel for these characters, too; their tragic nightmares hit you right in the gut and stick with you. I knew better than to read this before bed; it had me jumping at every little noise and checking under the bed like a kid! Solid four stars, and I’m already itching for book #2 to see where this goes.

I have read many possession novels but this one was quite different. When Danny and Janet start experiencing strange dreams and nosebleeds all of the family became concerned. Then as the demon began putting more horror onto the family the two began sleepwalking and Danny would end up places he had no way of getting to without interference from someone or something. I cannot imagine more fear than dealing with the horrific things happening to Danny. As a parent, I would do whatever it took to protect my children. As things got worse, the parents were able to get the church to intervene but with little success. The more Terry tried to communicate with the demon the more hopeless the family became. Each attack was more terrifying than the previous one adding so much stress upon the parents. I was not prepared for how this novel ended. I cannot explain more without giving away the twist. I guess you will have to read the book.

As a young child, Terry witnesses his sister’s untimely death due to a demonic possession.
He decides to devote his life to finding this demon.
The Hendersons along with their son Danny move into their new home where within a short time Danny starts having crazy nightmares and finds himself waking up outside of the house with no explanation or memory as to how he got there. As time goes on his so-called dreams become more alarming and his parents become more concerned.
Danny starts talking about creatures that he is seeing and he starts experiencing nosebleeds. Soon after his Mom starts experiencing the same visions and nosebleeds as well.
The family enlists Terrys help, but will it be too late or will the demon be too powerful for anyone to stop him?
Justin Boote has written a gripping book about demonic possession which follows a struggling family as they confront an unseen force that slowly unravels their lives.

Great for demon horror!

Entity: Book 1 in the Demons Among Us series, is a novel about a young family whose son is behaving oddly, with unexplained events regularly occurring. Initially, the parents think Danny is having emotional problems and sleepwalking, but things rapidly begin turning for the worse. As far as demon horror goes, Entity is as good as it comes! I enjoyed the book way more than I expected, despite the summary of the book sounding interesting. The writing is very good, especially considering the genre! The characters are well composed and likeable, the pace and plot match up just right and the vivid descriptions, though vague, of the demons will give sensitive readers nightmares! 4/5 stars, highly recommended for fans of horror and especially supernatural horror!

The power of Christ compels you to read Entity by Justin Boote. Boote is a master at creating desperate, heart breaking situations, and characters you care for deeply. The complete loss of control the characters feel is palpable, visceral, and all consuming. I found myself picturing what I'd do in the Hendersons' situation. Their son, Danny, is acting strange. Dangerous. Possessed. But what do you do if the Church can't help? Call Terry Robertson, a demonologist with a past that makes him well-equipped for the job. And secrets of his own.
With realistic, fully fleshed out characters, and a plot that is mile-a-minute, Entity (Book One of the Demons Among Us series) is a must-read possession novel.

”Nothing could take away the sense of dread that clung to her like a bad memory.“

If you enjoy being scared, jumping at every little noise, and feeling something lurking just out of sight–read this book.

We follow Janet, Pete and their young son Danny. Strange things start happening in their home, and to their son. The couple hears Danny giggling with an invisible friend. Janet feels like she’s being watched, especially when she’s home alone. Pete–the big, strong dad, is starting to feel helpless. They try everything to bring back normality… except one thing that might cost them their reality.

Entity is a chilling dive into the evil of the supernatural. Demons, dread, and destruction–J.Boote delivers them all.

Entity by Justin Boote
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Scary, creepy, and intense!! I really enjoyed this exciting and fast paced demon possession story!!
Danny, a 9 year old boy, starts acting strangely after his family moves into a new home. His parents, Pete and Janet, have contacted the church to look into getting help for Danny. Unfortunately, not much gets done. However, when they meet Terry Robertson, a demonologist, and his wife, they find out some answers to what is going on. Terry has a past with the demon also, so it’s very personal to him.
The character development in this story is great and so is the vivid imagery.

I was lucky to get an arc of this excellent book!
*It comes out November 28th and I recommend checking it out!!*

Justin Boote's has done it again, but this time with his new possession series "The Demons Among Us" with the first book being "Entity”. This time you find yourself following a demon hunter with history and a score to pay. I feel this only scratches the surface of what will come. This story that is unfolding will scare the living crap out of you. When it comes to demons, possessions and everything that comes hand in hand with this sorta thing, it’s absolutely, completely and utterly terrifying. There is only so much that can be done so buckle up buttercup this series is going to scare the heebie-jeebies right out of you.

Justin Boote continues to prove why he’s one of my absolute favorite authors. I was thrilled to receive an ARC of Entity, the first book in the Possession Series, and it did not disappoint. As a lifelong horror fan, I’ve become pretty hard to spook—but this story delivers a creeping unease and growing dread that had me fully absorbed from the start. The tension builds steadily with each chapter, pulling you deeper until the finale hits with a twist I never saw coming.

This is atmospheric, unsettling horror at its best, and it’s left me counting down the days until Book 2. Highly recommended for anyone who craves horror that lingers long after you finish reading.

“Entity” - Let me just burn some sage real quick.

★★★★☆ (4,5 )

This book gave me “Exorcist” meets “Conjuring” vibes in the best way!
I could not stop reading because as things progressed I needed to know what would happen and let me tell you, this story will haunt you! Actually the demons in this book will haunt you and they now live rent free in my brain, because I can’t un see what I’ve just read. Ya’ll need Jesus after this one and I need Justin Boote to keep writing because I need more! Thank you for the ARC!

I love possession horror and Entity did not disappoint. This book is packed with full-on demonic attacks, disastrous exorcism attempts, and a demon that digs in and refuses to let go. I really felt for the parents, and I’ll admit I found myself annoyed with the kid more than once, haha. I absolutely loved the stubborn determination of the demonologist trying to keep everything from falling apart.

It’s super creepy, tense, and way more emotional than I expected. It’s the first book in a long time that had me genuinely thinking about buying a nightlight.

Justin Boote's "Entity" is the most intense story of possession I've ever experienced. The author's use of imagery sucks you in and consumes your mind. I felt fully invested in the fate of each character. I was taken over with an insatiable urge to finish the story and managed to hide under my covers late into the evenings with this book. Every little noise and rattle of the wind shook my nerves while reading. The ending absolutely blew my mind. Thank you immensely for the ARC!

This was a chilling, fast-paced read that hooked me from the start. The atmosphere is dark and intense, and the characters feel so real that their fear becomes yours. It’s creepy, emotional, and completely impossible to put down — one of those stories that sucks you in and sticks with you long after you finish reading.  So glad this is going to be a series.  Can't wait for the next one!

ARC REVIEW
This book goes hard from page one. Fast-paced, creepy, and emotionally intense, I was hooked instantly. The dread builds fast and never lets up.
The atmosphere? Dark. The fear? Real. The kind of horror that gets under your skin and stays there.
This was an ARC read, and I'm already counting down to Book 2. If you love possession stories that actually deliver, this one's a must.

What a great, spooky and chilling read this one was! It had me hooked from the get go. Nothing like reading a book that has you spooked every time the house makes a sound or wonder if a demon is going to come through the walls at any moment! I don't suggest reading this when you are alone at night, it's definitely creepy AF! I can't wait for the next one!

Justin Boote has done it again. . . this time with demons. A nine year old boy starts sleep walking and acting strange. I don't want to put any spoilers in so I'm just going to say the family struggled and with much hesitation and confusion trying figure out who would be best to get rid of demon that is disrupting their family.
