The Treleous Connection: An Arrowhead Thriller

Rate this book
"The Treleous Connection is a fast-paced thriller packed with espionage, and intrigue, sprinkled with a bit of unresolved romance. With bad dudes, political twists, and a perilous chase through the Caribbean, Hurst's gripping, ripping, non-stop action story keeps the tension taut and the pages turning." -Cam Torrens, author of the Tyler Zahn suspense series

Craig Black thinks he's seen it all in his career with the CIA, but this case tops the list. He's just discovered that the secret organization he's been hunting, Treleous, is connected to a disgraced ex-CIA scientist. Worse, his government channels have been compromised. Unsure who he can trust, he has no choice but to call on former agents Eddie Mason and Loren Malen for help.

But Eddie and Loren soon reach a standstill in their efforts to stop Treleous. Their adversaries have learned their identities and location, and they're running out of clues-and time. Their one lead is a long-closed CIA project called Madera.

While Craig sneaks Loren into Cuba, Eddie travels to Greece to find a sensitive piece of US military tech being sold on the black market. They're not certain that either mission is even connected to Treleous, but they have no other clues to pursue, and they won't be able to get their lives back until they stop them once and for all.

The Treleous Connection had lots of different story lines running throughout the book. Many tied into previous stories that I had not read. I think I lost some of the story with trying to figure out the missing pieces (I was able to do it for the most part, but it further in that some parts finally clicked). I would be sure to read books 1 & 2 first.

With so many story lines going on, I struggled to finish the book. Yes there are several mysteries to solve but the connections between the stories don't always make sense (they might if you have read the previous books). There are a few unanswered questions (to me) that I wonder if there will be a fourth book.

A fast-paced thriller that puts the reader smack dab in the middle of a global conflict. I've read the first two books in this three-book series, but each stands on its own--no prior reading required. Hurst creates characters of depth with crystal clear motivations, ensuring his readers care about what happens to them as they navigate a series of deadly encounters. The plot moves at a breakneck speed, with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing.

Bret Hurst's novels remind me of Robert Ludlum's early work set in the modern age with Jack Carr-like action scenes!
