Love stories aren't supposed to be written in blood. Theirs wouldn't work any other way.
Deacon Thorne has perfected the art of hunting alone. Silent, deadly, and colder than a morgue in January, he spends his time taking down men who prey on children. He watches, confirms, and strikes when they least expect it, delivering justice with a nostalgic touch. So when a pint-sized hurricane crashes his kill scene with a wink and a smile, he realizes he’s met a new kind of nightmare.
Scout Prescott is five feet two inches of curves, charm and sass, a siren with a sweet tooth and an alarming caffeine addiction. But beneath the sparkle beats the heart of the notorious Stitcher, a serial killer who turns monsters into macabre art, one perfectly placed needle at a time. When she’s tasked to find Deacon and recruit him into the Hollow, a secret society of killers who hunt their own, the mission seems simple. Team up, make the kill, and move on.
But soon the world around them begins to shift, and an unknown threat closes in, leaving broken bodies and shards of glass in its wake. Scout and Deacon are forced to drop their defenses and work together to find out who’s pulling the strings. But the most dangerous thing they uncover might just be each other.
Sweet Stitches had me stitching my sanity back together (in a good way). I genuinely had such a fun time with Sweet Stitches. The vibes? Immaculate. The drama? Delicious. The romance? Soft but spicy in that “oh wow I’m kicking my feet a little” way.
BUT I’m not gonna lie, there was a stretch where I was desperately waiting for something to happen. Like pacing around my room, checking the page number, wondering if the plot was on a lunch break. Then I remembered I’m bipolar with 12 personalities, and realistically? At least half of them were probably just impatient and loud, so maybe that one’s on us collectively. Once things picked up, though? I was locked in. The characters pulled me right back, the emotional beats hit, and the ending had me internally screaming in the best possible way.
4.5 stars because this book was sweet, chaotic, and had me entertained. Even when my personalities were fighting over whether we were bored or obsessed.
Love stories? Cute, right. That’s not this. This is a love story dipped in blood, stitched with needles, and served with a side of utter insanity. Deacon Thorne is every nightmare you’ve ever had. Cold, lethal, and somehow…utterly magnetic. He kills monsters, but man, the way he watches Scout Prescott? That’s a different kind of hunting. Silent, deadly, and hotter than a morgue in January, he’s the apex predator you cannot look away from.
Scout. Scout is chaos wrapped in caffeine, sass, and killer curves. Five-foot-two of pure wildfire with a grin that could melt your soul and a needle that will literally put you in your place. The Stitcher? Yeah, that’s her, but also…she’s a force of nature, a pint-sized hurricane who winks while stabbing you in the heart and somehow makes you thank her for it.
This book? It’s a car crash in the best way. Blood, glitter, sarcasm, and heat everywhere. Every page is a punch to the chest, a slash across your emotions, and a smirk from fate whispering, “Good luck surviving this.” You’ll laugh, you’ll swoon, you’ll squirm, and maybe throw your phone across the room because your soul can’t handle Scout and Deacon together. Every twist? A hurricane made of glass and heartbreak. Every spark of chemistry? Literally combustible.
This story doesn’t just burn, it bleeds. It fries your brain, ignites your heart, and leaves you craving blood, sugar, and chaos in equal measure. If you like romance, step aside. If you crave obsession, danger, and a love story so wild it could kill you…welcome to the Hollow.
This was such a good book, even tho the cliffhanger at the end made me mad 🤣 I would’ve rated this one a full 5 stars, but there was some repetitive wording at times that I noticed. The beginning was kind of slow but still enjoyable and started to pick up quickly. I loved the dynamics and the chemistry between the main characters (like hot damn 🥵 this one was spicy and I loved it). I stayed up till 8am to finish this one if that tells you anything 😆 if you like Brynne Weavers works you’ll like this one. It gives off similar vibes. Now excuse me while I go deep diving to look for info about the second book 👀
Sweet Stitches isn’t usually the kind of story I pick up, but I ended up enjoying the ride far more than I expected. It’s very much a “romantasy” with real-world grit, no dragons or magic, just vigilantes navigating their own brutal sense of justice. The prose is solid, though the present-tense, first-person style can feel a little challenging at first, especially with the alternating POVs. The sentence structure takes some getting used to, and the POV shifts, even with labeled chapters, occasionally made me pause to reorient. Still, once I settled into the rhythm, the voices felt distinct enough and the structure started to work in the story’s favor.
The graphic sexual content wasn’t really my thing, but pulling that aside, the characters themselves are believable, engaging, and surprisingly easy to root for. The pacing moves fast, the world feels grounded despite its vigilante-fantasy edge, and the plot hits a satisfying balance between action, emotion, and intensity. Overall, Sweet Stitches makes for a quick, immersive read: dark in theme but entertaining throughout. Even if it’s not your usual genre, there’s a lot here to enjoy, and if it is, you certainly won’t be disappointed.
I’m absolutely obsessed with this story and the characters!
Scout is actually a murder-y version of myself. Love of sugar, caffeine, and the color pink?! Check!!! ✅ I felt so connected to her character because of how alike we are (minus the killing..I promise I would never). She’s a chaotic queen, but also sensitive in the best way where she would do anything for the people she loves and cares about.
Deacon is a complex character that pulls out that feeling of mystery, but also shows you just enough of himself to keep you satisfied before his walls come down. I absolutely love how obsessed he is with Scout and how he’d burn the world down to make sure she’s safe and happy.
Brayden is one of my favorite characters with his adorable southern drawl and his brotherly-like love for Scout. The other characters compliment each other so well. Their family dynamic in the home and business they’ve build is perfection, you can feel the chemistry between all of them radiating off the pages.
The spice?! Absolute cinema. Perfectly timed. 12/10.
I cannot wait for book two to come out especially after that ending, I need MORE!!!!
What do we have here? Two serial unalivers. Deacon Thorne MMC and Scout Prescott FMC. And Scout's crew, Lucien, Roman, Ivy, Braden and Tristan. All part of a secret society of killers that do the cleanup. Scouts and her crew find Deacon (Mr. Floss) who takes out Chomo's for the good of mankind. The recruit him to their secret society. Scout (The Stitcher) decorates monsters with embroidery. When these two meet up, there are sparks between them almost immediately. Even though Deacon is resisting. The don't get involved thing with this kind of work. That does not last long. I would classify this group as creative assassins or vigilante killers instead of serial. Because they are taking out the garbage. I love this ARC enjoyed all the blood, spice and full throttle action til the end
Stars:5⭐️ Spice:5🔥 Plot:5/5 FMC-Her friends call her Scout, the world calls her Stitcher, he calls her… Stabby Cupcake? All of these names represent who she is, but her purpose is so much bigger than any name. She does it for them…for her girls. MMC-Deacon, Mr Floss, Candy Man…most definitely a recluse. For years, he has walked the earth alone as a vigilante of sorts; righting wrongs that he did not commit. He has always operated solo with one goal in mind-protect the children. Sweet Stitches is dark, bloody, spicy, and full of adrenaline. This is what you get when the candy man meets a murder kitten with a sweet tooth! Oh, and OF COURSE there is a cliffhanger that is going to make you want book 2 in your hands IMMEDIATELY!
This book exceeded every expectation I had for it, it was so beautifully written, that I felt immersed in the story myself. The characters are amazing, one of a kind and just unforgettable. The story and the plot is unlike other books I’ve read and kept me hooked and interested the entire way through the book. I loved every chapter and the twists it had towards the ending were some I did not see coming. I can not wait for the next book to come out so I can get even more of this series. Definitely give this book a try if you are into dark romance comedy with tropes like morally grey characters, broody mmc, secret society of serial unalivers and even more! You won’t regret it!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

★★★★★ Sweet Stitches by Leanna Stone Writes absolutely delivered. This book was everything. Dry, sarcastic humor, razor-sharp quips, and thriller-style twists that kept me completely on edge. Just when you think you know where it’s going, the author yanks the rug out from under you in the best way. The spice? Off the charts, easily four chili peppers 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.
But what really made it stand out was how sweet and intentional the romantic undertones felt, balancing the chaos perfectly. And let’s talk about it—serial unalivers… unaliving serial killers? Say less. I ate this up. Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing. This dark romcom hit every mark for me.
This book is absolutely unhinged and hilarious in the best possible way. I'm trying not to give spoilers but there's murder, stalking, vengeance, and the best FMC I've read in a long time.
It literally has everything from serial killers to secret societies to 🌶️ in the MOST unexpected of places. It’s dark. It’s hilarious. And it will leave you absolutely feral and foaming at the mouth for the sequel!!!!!
