Bruqlyn (Brooklyn) Sampson has been on a long road to happiness. Something that she learned early was that life’s highway had many on ramps, off ramps, and detours. Her biggest reroute on her trip was leaving her home in Mississippi to come to North Carolina. Now that she’s traveling at a comfortable speed, will a new person on her highway cause a distraction that could be the cause of a head-on collision, or will she get a ride-along partner? Euri Westin is on her bumper, but will she be willing to slow down to let him in for the ride, or will he be forced to speed up?

A cute short read. Bruq pronounced Brook had a tough upbringing that she had to escape from. Her Mom did her best to help protect her and she did the best she could but her best plan was an escape plan.
This was a fast paced and short read. Euri was captivated by Bruqlyn from the day he met her. By the 3rd day he was claiming her AND her dog as his🤣and Bruqlyn didn’t fight him on it. She was also a baby crash out and I loved that for her. I thought more of her past was going to play out in the book but it didn’t. So this made for a generally low angst kind of romance where most of the drama took place outside of the couple’s relationship.
This was so cute. I love how Brqulyn was Sooooo unbothered by the mean girls. You can always tell a REAL HAT'N HO that ain't go not hands. She had all her ducks in a row and made a plan and stick with it. Euri saw a good thing in her and figured out how to make it happen.
Her dad was trash, and I'm glad he got what was owed to him.
Mel Dau never misses. Her books are always well-written and good from beginning to end. She always has funny moments, and my girl knows how to switch up names.
With that said, I love Bruq and Euri. Euri came out the gate and told Bruq that she was going to be his woman. All gas and no brakes. I am still curious about her mom's accident, but I guess that is another story or not.
I love love love that tge author has clips on how to pronounce some name. This really helpful for someone like.
Brukly escaped from her tyrant if a father after her mom had passed away and he got meanerm with her. Some time hss psssed and she is now many many states away. Regardless of her past environment, she is ready to use them hands when bothered.
Euri is an owner of a clean energy company and he meets Bruklyn when he and his brothers are out to dinner. She is their server. He is interested from he sees her. He makes it know and inserts himself in her path every opportunity that he could.
She has many secrets thst she is forced to confront due to jealousy. Euri has boundries on what he expects of his mate and confronts all issues when presented
This storyline deals with some abuse early on in the book which almost made me tapout because I wasn't looking to read anything heavy, but because it is Mel, I trusted her to not keep us in that space for too long and thankfully she did not. These two leading characters were kinda interesting, especially Bruq who - despite having such a traumatic upbringing bounced back into a fun(ny) and sassy woman who stayed on the ready with both her mouth and her hands. Euri was a former street dude who was super smart and successfully shifted his focus to a legal living. He also saw what or who he wanted rather and stood 10 toes down from day one. His character was funny- to- me and I literally laughed out loud at most of his dialog. The story was kinda short and there were a lot of moving pieces to it, yet it still didn't feel as strong as some of the authors other work. Nonetheless, it held my interest for the majority of it and of course brought attention to a medical situation like many of her books do.
The Road To You is one of those stories that quietly pulls you in and then stays with you long after you’re done reading. It felt real not overly dramatic, not rushed, just honest and emotional in a way that’s easy to connect to. The relationship unfolded naturally, with moments of tension, vulnerability, and growth that made the characters feel human and relatable.
What I appreciated most was the way healing was handled. This wasn’t just about falling in love, but about learning yourself, unlearning old hurts, and allowing someone to meet you where you are instead of where you think you should be. The emotions felt familiar — the hesitation, the fear of getting it wrong again, and the hope that maybe this time it could be different.
Even though it’s a shorter read, it carries weight. Every moment felt intentional, and nothing felt forced. It reminded me that love can be gentle, patient, and still powerful. This was a beautiful journey, and I truly enjoyed every page. Definitely a 5-star read and one I’d recommend to anyone who loves romance with depth and heart. 🤍
I really enjoyed *The Road to You* by Mel Dau. Bruqlyn Sampson’s journey felt real and heartfelt, especially her decision to leave Mississippi for North Carolina in search of happiness. Watching her slowly let her guard down was one of the best parts of the story.
I appreciated how the book handled her family dynamics, especially her father’s regret and his desire to make sure she was taken care of. Euri was a great love interest who truly admired Bruqlyn for her goals, ambition, and direction in life. He and his family showed up for her in meaningful ways, with Grant, Norma, and their daughter Magastiy becoming the protective, loving family she needed.
The story balanced emotional moments with humor, making it an easy and enjoyable read. Overall, it’s a warm, uplifting story about healing, love, and finding the right partner to ride through life with.
I knew I was locked in the moment I realized the FMC’s name was Bruqlyn (as a Brooklyn girl, I stand ten toes down on that one ). Bruqlyn was dealt a rough hand with an abusive father full of secrets, but she found her strength, left that situation behind, and built her own life.
Euri ! A man who knew from the first encounter that she was his woman, and he acted accordingly. Love a man with focus and a mission!
What I loved about this story: Every character was about that life ! Ready to throw hands, pull their piece, and still crack jokes in between.
Bruqlyn and Euri’s connection felt real and unforced.
The little bit of drama that unfolded made the story well-rounded and satisfying.
After leaving her traumatized life in Mississippi, Bruqlyn moved to South Carolina. It was insta-love on Euri's part when he met her. I loved how hard Euri went behind Bruqlyn. Euri and Bruqlyn were made for each other. I also loved how both of them had smart mouths that had me cracking up at several places in the book. I couldn't stand CeCe. She got what was coming to her for constantly running her mouth and not moving around like she should have. The family camaraderie, the sexual chemistry and the secret about Bruqlyn's condition made this another great Mel Dau book. I'm hoping that we will also get books on the brothers and the sister because I loved their characters as well.
This was truly a beautiful love story!!!…You truly never know what person is going through or has endured!!!…Bruq had such a beautiful soul and my heart broke listening to what and how her mother suffered thinking it was worth it to make sure Bruq was given a “good” life!!!…She had enough strength to plan Bruq’s escape and I can’t imagine what it cost her!!!… She found her village in Euri and his family!!!…I loved how delicately he handled her, complimented her and loved her!!!… Cece harassed Bruq, got that fist to face and then ran to the law!!!…She was jealous and her misplaced anger got in her in something she was not prepared for!!!…
I can honestly say that I have not read a Mel Dau book that I didn’t like and I think it’s cause my mind and her pen stays on one accord!
Bruqlyn and Euri’s love story was simply amazing. It was definitely love at first sight for Euri but it took some time for Bruqlyn. Once she decided to open up about her past life and other secrets, then realized that he accepted her for who she was no matter what, it was them against the world!!
If you haven’t had the time to read this book please add it to your TBR!!
Short, interesting read from beginning to end. Brooke went through many heartbreaking and disappointing roads before getting to the one that lead her to Euri. Leaving home after having an abusive father who had any secrets and after her mother’s death, Brooke changed her name and hid from her dad. Only after his death did she find out that he knew where she was and she had an uncle. She met Euri, they fell in love quickly and had to deal with stupid women like Cece.
Poor Bruqlyn was abused by her father until she executed her deceased mother's plan of escape. She ends up in Charlotte, NC where she changes her name and starts living in her van and working 2 jobs. She meets Euri Westin and as they say the rest is history. This one had emotional moments but Euri was a protector and knew from day 1 she would be his! This was a quick read and I loved it. Mel Dau has done it again, love her style of writing it always pulls you right in and holds you until the end leaving you wanting more!
Bruqlyn found her peace once she finally left Jackson. Meeting Euri was the icing on the cake. Once they got past all of the secrets, everything became amazing for them. Euri wasn't allowing anyone to step out of line when it came to Bruqlyn. His family loved her as much as he did. Although they moved fast, everything was authentic. Their love was perfect. Awesome read!
First off let’s start with the names! Euri and Bruqlyn (Alexa says Bru-Kee-Lyn which is sooo cute)! Our girl went through it & was beyond strong. Her dad was something else BUT he didn’t cause the hell I was thinking would happen! I love how Euri stood on the THIRD DAY lol! This whole family is amazing & im ready to see what mama Marsha & papa Orion got going on!!! The other siblings are very interesting! I want to see this van!
Ugh I hate reading slumps, it took me forever to finish this book.
But this book was actually good like it ate fr. I like how Bruq name was spelled differently and her story never made Euri think she was hard to love. I loved the true love and how the family welcomed her in without messiness or weird behavior, they just accepted and loved her. She found her forever family in Euri and I loved that for her. She deserved the love that she craved.
Bruqlyn comes from money but also a troubled past due to her abusive father. She crosses paths with businessman Euri & as soon as he lies eyes on her he wants her (& her dog) to himself. They both have some issues from their past pop up that both try to deal with the best they know how. Euri is a bit unhinged & Burqlyn is definitely a crash out type of girl. This was a quick read that had a lot going on & I thought was an okay read.
What can I say Mel Dau always delivers a banger Love a insta love trope now Euri saw Bruq and was like yeah she cut with a reckless mouth but once he saw those solar panels on that van he knew she mine.. now Bruq was running not to be found but I will say she was a little more unhinged than Euri…this was a quick read and had just enough of everything
Euri was on Bruqlyn at first glance and was not slow about his pursuit or his intentions to be with. I liked that and that she was receptive to his pursuit. These two were funny together and had similar personalities. I enjoyed this novella and wanted a little more from this couple and the side characters.
This book was hilariously good and sad. They best line ever was where a person's funny bone is. The way I laughed because Bruqlyn was extra serious. Don't get me started on Euri and his "brother." I sent that to my bestie and she immediately asked for the title.
Another lit South Carolina couple!! Each one tops the next. I don't know who my favorite is😍😂 Yuri came out the gate not playing about his boo😍😍😂. They were both matched in crazy. The instant connection with the fur baby and Yuri's family was amazing and I loved that for her. Great read🙌🙌👏👏
Euri & Bruqlyn! A love at first sight type of story! Not to fast or slow, just right. Euri was very intentional but not unhinged. It was a pleasure to read. Bruq was interesting! Her temper was short, I felt parts of her were unfinished, nevertheless she was interesting.
As usual Mel Dau has you falling in love with a dark chocolate MMC. I love when the MMC sees his one, knows she's his one and moves accordingly. Euri and his family were hilarious throughout, and the way they opened their hearts to Bruq was heartwarming. The way Euri came all gas no brakes to get his woman was everything.
All Scootched In. Awesome Awesome. The MFC left home after her mother passed to get away from her dad. The MMC claimed her as his woman three days after meeting her. This was a short but sweet novella. It touches on domestic violence, child abuse and human trafficking. Kudos to the author👏🏾👏🏾. This is 10⭐s worthy. Sex scenes were 🔥🔥 and🌶🌶.
Great easy read. Story line was different from the usual urban love story. The characters were well developed and all could easily have their own story. Euri waswère definitely an alpha male. antagonists were well matched . Enjoyed Recommend to romantics .
The Road to you, is a nice!y written love story! Euri, knew he wanted Bruqlyn from the moment he saw her! Blood doesn't always make you family and you can't judge a book by its cover! The family dynamics is intriguing! I really enjoyed the ending and hope to see mode of Euri & Bruqlyn!
Omg!!!😱 what an enjoyable ride! Bruqlyn was smart, creative and shear joy! Euri came for her heart fast! His personality was made just for Bruglyn! I loved Euri family and the extended familiar Bruqlyn!!! Mel knocked it out the park… AGAIN!!!
