A contract bride. A seasonal solution. A fake wife to shut my family up for Christmas.
But then she started making pancakes in my kitchen. Tucking my daughter into bed like she belonged. Looking at me like I was more than just money and muscle.
Now December 26th feels like a guillotine.
Because I don’t want the holidays to end. I don’t want the contract to expire. And I damn sure don’t want to wake up alone in that big empty house again.
I’ve built billion-dollar empires. But I’ve never wanted something this badly. Not until Skylar Jones moved in, lit up my life, and made it impossible to remember where the lies stopped.
She signed up to play my wife.
Now I have one week to make her my forever.
Read on for fake marriage, single dad sweetness, class divide tension, winter warmth, and a possessive billionaire who falls harder than he planned. HEA Guaranteed!
Skylar is a struggling photographer who may have to sacrifice her artistic dreams for practical pursuits in order to survive. Ethan is a wealthy businessman from an elitist family. He's divorced with an 8-y.o. daughter and he's dreading spending Christmas with his family... especially since his mother has been trying to fix him up. These two meet a charity gala Skylar was hired to photograph. It was a nice meet-cute. They had some great one-liners. The not-quite-indecent proposal was obvious. I had higher hopes for this one.
Then, the inconsistencies started. Well...one glaring one. The purpose of this fake relationship was to fool his family over a three-day holiday. Suddenly, there is mention of how Skylar's being Ethan's fake wife will help with his custody problem? What custody problem?? His daughter spends ONE weekend out of the three weeks we see with her mother. We don't see or hear from the bio mother until much later, but--unless I missed something--there was no custody fight. And how, exactly, would a FAKE marriage help with a custody fight? It's not like they could fool the courts, like they couldn't pull up proof--or lack thereof.
There were a couple other odd scenes...for example, there's one when the three of them (Skylar, Ethan, and his daughter) were alone together, but somehow the three of them ended up in pictures together on Skylar's camera. Who took those candid pictures if they were alone?
Like I said, it started out well. I think it's a good premise. I could've liked it more and rated it higher if not for the inconsistencies.

Although the family dynamic or main plot points of this story aren't my favorite elements for a Christmas romance, I did enjoy it. I liked that Skylar and Ethan didn't sleep together before establishing a romantic relationship. The ex-wife, his parents and his daughter having to leave a family celebration and mother because it was Ethan's turn to have her this Christmas.
A Wife for the Holidays is the perfect mix of heart, heat, and holiday magic. What starts as a simple contract turns into an emotional slow burn filled with family, vulnerability, and unexpected love. It’s a story that’s both swoon-worthy and sincere — the kind that makes you smile one minute and ache the next.
Skylar (heroine) and Ethan (hero) have chemistry that jumps off the page, and the way she fits into his world (and heart) feels effortless. By the end, I was just as heartbroken for it to be over. A cozy, emotional, and beautifully written romance that reminds you love doesn’t follow contracts — it rewrites them. 💕
Thus is my first time reading these authors. I enjoyed this beautiful and sweet Christmas story. A fake marriage arrangement that blooms into the real thing. Both characters were well written, and the evolution of their love was well done. Daphne was an added bonus. Ethan was a wonderful father, and I loved how she bonded with Skylar, her new stepmom. You could feel the love that they all had for each other. This book will remain in my permanent rotation of Christmas books to read in December.
Their relationship begins with a contract, but close proximity has the feelings ringing in more than good cheer. Ethan and Skylar both have baggage that has them skeptical when it comes to relationships but when she brings light into his life and smiles on his daughter's face a shift occurs between them. will their fake marriage turn into the real deal and lead them to the happiness they desire.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really really liked this book. It is so refreshing to read a story where the main characters don't sleep together the second they meet. I love that this was a mutual benefit with no hidden agenda by two people whose only interest was fulfilling a need. I loved that the relationship moved slowly and it felt realistic. Daphne was too cute and Ethan and Sky were the perfect couple. Another great book by these two great authors!
I blew through this book in one sitting. The characters were fun and fit well together. I was really cheering for their love. The last 2 chapters had me in tears. Good tears. When the story ended, I found myself wanting to read more about how their family life continues after they really get married. Do they have kids, does his family come around and accept Sky? I really loved this story. It brought a smile to my face when I need a pick me up.
This was a pleasant story that can be read in one sitting. Although the plot was predictable , it was well-written. I liked that characters of Skylar and Ethan and how they feel in love. As with most interracial stories, the racial differences were glossed over and framed as objections to Skylar’s background. That was my main qualm. Otherwise, it is a cute holiday read with a sprinkle of spice.
Such a beautiful Christmas story. I my favorite part was at the Hampton family Christmas retreat. Night one at the dinner table when Sky check mate the family. Bayyyyybeeee when she asked about what being a Sinclair entailed. I screamed at my phone and pump my fist in air!!!! Overall, I love how Ethan finally saw reasons when it matter the most to stand up for himself and the love he has for Sky. Great story.
A swoon-worthy holiday romance! This is one that I would watch over and over if it were a movie! I enjoyed how much Ethan was besotted with Skyler from the beginning. Skyler's narrative was motivational and heartwarming as she navigates her unknown future and finds her confidence. Though short, this was straight to the point, making it a great seasonal story. A 5 star read from me!
Ms Cox and Ms Walker are two of my most favorite authors. This book was an awesome read. The two together are fantastic and fascinating. Ladies keep it up because I really love you and your books. Y’all out there “Best book ever “😍
A Wife For The Holidays is an easy to read story with interesting characters, set during the Christmas season. If you enjoy second chance love stories, this may be for you.
This was lovely. It could have been predictable and trite, but it wasn’t. Ethan, Skylar and Daphne became a family and the journey was wonderful and heartfelt.
It's such a cute story where they start off with this fake marriage deal, each looking out for themselves, but then end up totally falling for each other for real.
Although I liked the characters and the story line, I think the authors should watch certain aspects of their story such as why is she borrowing a dress from her roommate if she lives alone and is having trouble paying rent. 🤔
A beautiful story. A fake marriage arrangement that blooms into the real thing. A family that develops from time spent together loving and spending time together.
Ethan's family is god awful!! Im so glad he stood up for Skylar. She's so sweet, kind, beautiful, and exactly what Ethan and Daphne needed. I love them together.
Sweet telling of Sky and Ethan’s love story. Wish there was one more chapter to show their wedding or the resolution with his family. But I can imagine it on my own.
