現役の文部科学大臣で文壇の大御所作家でもある清水義之が全国高校生総合文化祭の式典の最中、舞台袖から飛び出してきた男に刺されて死亡する事件がおきた。逮捕された男の名前は永瀬暁、37歳。永瀬は逮捕されたのち、週刊誌に手記を発表しはじめる。そこには、清水が深く関わっているとされる新興宗教「世界博愛和光連合（通称：愛光教会）」に対する恨みが綴られていた。暗闇の奥に隠された永瀬の目的とはーー。
