London, 2012, host country for the Olympic Games, and as the world looks forward to this magnificent four yearly event, the team responsible for safety are aware that it is also a target for criminals, and those who wish harm to everyone involved, including the general public.

In particular, an international conspiracy to unleash an attack of unimaginable terror is set in motion, and once again Commander William Warwick and Sergeant Ross Hogan of the Scotland Yard elite team are tasked with preventing this and many other incidents from occurring, some involving home grown crooked politicians, those who abuse their power and authority for personal or private gain, rather than serving the public good.

This is the final book in the William Warwick series, and with master storyteller Jeffrey Archer at the helm, we were assured a thrilling cat and mouse game, set against a ticking clock, counting down the minutes to various incidents that involve some extremely dangerous individuals. Can Commander Warwick and his team stop this Olympic Games from being one of the biggest man made catastrophes ever seen? My lips are sealed!

EXCERPT: . . . Commander Warwick was amongst the first in Singapore to hear the news. He was sitting alone in his hotel room, watching breakfast television. Three bombs had exploded on the London underground and a fourth on a bus, killing fifty-two and injuring over eight hundred innocent victims, most of them on their way to work.
William recalled that Sebastian Coe, during his confidential chats to delegates over the past fortnight, had frequently repeated the fact that twenty-five thousand people a day would be able to travel from Victoria to the Olympic Park on the London underground in half an hour.
As the new Head of Public Order and Operational Support for the 2012 Olympic Games, William was preparing to address the British bidding team in the same room where only the day before they had celebrated a famous victory.
The following day, a sombre, but not altogether sober, group arrived back in London, not to the deserved accolades of an exuberant, welcoming crowd, but to be slipped quietly through a private exit so they could avoid the press, who would have only one question on their lips: if the bombing had taken place the day before the final vote, and not the day after, do you think London would have been selected to host 2012 Olympic Games?
Everyone knew the answer.

ABOUT 'END GAME': William Warwick and Ross Hogan return, for one last time, in a gripping and unputdownable finale.

MY THOUGHTS: An absolutely heart pounding read throughout!

I was devastated to learn that this (#8) is the final in the much-loved William Warwick series, and I wouldn't be at all sad if Archer managed to squeeze another out.

I love the way Acher blends historical fact in his fiction, but the fact (revealed at the end) that thirteen of the twenty-two incidents that occur in End Game actually happened; were real attempts to sabotage the Games held in London in 2012. That is a sobering thought. That all of them were unsuccessful to varying degrees is a great tribute to those charged with the security of the Games.

The storyline is fast-paced and the reader is thrown right into the action from the outset. Conman Miles Faulkner and his fawning factotum Booth Watson are again deeply involved in the skullduggery along with foreign powers who recognise their greed and are prepared to benefit from it. I loved the twist at the end; it gave me a great deal of satisfaction.

There is an ill-fated love story woven into the plot which tugged at my heart-strings before breaking them fully. I feel a great deal of empathy for William Warwick's long-suffering wife, Beth, and wonder if they will ever get to have an uninterrupted dinner or holiday. I was glad to see Ross Hogan reinstated to his proper place, working back alongside William.

Both William's and Beth's now adult children play important parts in this story.

A lovely way to wrap up a thrilling series.

'If we were able to destroy Britain's reputation, we would at the same time destroy the trust other countries place in them'.

It's 2005 and London has just been selected to host the 2012 Olympic games. Although 7 years might seem like more than long enough to host such a spectacle, for Commander William Warwick, charged with the security of the event, there'll never be sufficient time to prepare for the unknown. As we countdown to the opening ceremony, hurdle through the games, and warm down for the closing ceremony, William and his team endeavour to keep one step ahead of those who contrive to cause mayhem. 'It is vital that we demonstrate to every country around the globe that power is shifting and it's no longer the West that holds the cards'.

The End Game is the last in the Warwick series but can easily be read as a standalone. In fact, I only picked up this series for the last two instalments. Every page of the story is filled with enough detail to really involve you, yet the breadth of events covered spins a wide and tangled web that will keep you guessing. I particularly enjoyed learning that 13 of the 22 incidents covered, in an attempt to sabotage the 2012 London Olympics were true- adding yet another mind game to twist your thinking.

'It will be a challenge that no one has experienced in this country since 1948...'.

I had such mixed feelings when I finished this novel. Primarily joy, given this was another brilliant novel in the series but also tinged with sadness that this will be the last novel following the exploits of William Warwick, his family and colleagues.

I began reading the Clifton Chronicles in 2021 (the original series where Warwick appeared) and read all 7 books in the series within a few months before starting the William Warwick series and have now finished all 8 books in the series. I think this is one of the few series I have started from the first book and worked my way, chronologically, through the end and I am feeling a little lost now.

In End Game, its 2012 and William Warwick is in charge of ensuring the Olympic Games run without a hitch. Given that long time nemesis, Miles Faulkner, is intent on getting back at Warwick and his team, it is clear that there are many, including Russia and China, who want to embarrass the UK by making the Games a spectacle for all the wrong reasons.

For those familiar with the series, and with Archer in general, will know you are in for a brilliant novel from a master story-teller. As this is the last novel, I was on tenterhooks the whole time wondering what the author had in store for the ending. Will it be a happy ever after or will Archer throw in one of this trademark twists. Well, read on to find out.

Jeffrey Archer is back with the long-awaited finale in the William Warwick series. Archer has not disappointed me throughout this series and this novel was no exception to that. All eyes turn to London, who has secured the rights to host the 30th Olympic Games in 2012. Commander William Warwick is tasked to head up security for the Games and has a great deal on his plate, as the spotlight shines on London. International terror groups and countries with no friendly relations seek to target the United Kingdom and create havoc as the world watches. When things begin happening behind the scenes, Commander Warwick knows who is pulling the strings, supported by Russian and Chinese operatives. While he seeks to neutralise the action, Warwick's daughter is sharpening her journalistic talons to capture the great story that will propel her to the front page. In an explosive and action-packed final novel, Jeffrey Archer shows why he is at the top of his genre with this stunning William Warwick book.

This series has long been one I enjoyed, not only for its police work, but Archer effectively uses historical events to connect fact with fiction. The narrative builds from the opening pages, instilling an ongoing momentum, while remaining highly entertaining. Things advance at a rapid pace, keeping characters and settings flashing by for the dedicated reader. Set against the backdrop of the London Olympics, the pace of the story and series of storylines hit home and provide perfect for a quick read.

William Warwick and his family are back, as well as some familiar faces, who are offset by new and entertaining individuals. The series fan will have seen much progression in the Warwick character, as well as the personal developments of many who have flavoured the story throughout this collection (and that of The Clifton Chronicles, from which this one gained its origins). There is a familiarity that resonates for the series fan, making this ending sad and yet exciting in equal measure.

Plot points emerge and it is apparent that Archer has planned the progression and germination of this series well, keeping readers on edge as the various surprises come to life. Much like in The Clifton Chronicles, series fans have seen much development within the books as well as throughout the entire collection.  Archer is still able to toss in the odd surprise to keep everyone guessing and leaves some threads hanging to pique curiosity. I will miss all those who played a role in this collection, but know Archer has at least a few more ideas on which his fans can percolate. I am eager to see what they are, when the time comes.

Kudos, Mr. Archer, for yet another powerful novel and a series well worth my time.

A thrilling finale indeed!
Commander William Warwick and his elite Scotland Yard team are racing against time in this adrenaline-fueled thriller, set during the lead-up to the London 2012 Olympic Games. With the eyes of the world trained on Britain, London becomes the prime target for an international conspiracy determined to cause chaos. As Warwick pursues the shadowy organization behind the plot, the stakes escalate, forcing him into a deadly game of cat and mouse.

The writing is so descriptive it immediately transports you to the high-energy streets of London; I felt completely involved, which is the best part of this book. The writing and the pacing are top-notch. The twists and turns are placed perfectly, complementing the flow of the story, and will compel you to turn the page and not stop until the book is finished and you see William Warwick succeed in his mission to stop the attack and save one of the most famous events on Earth.

The mix of fiction and real facts is noteworthy and makes reading this book a great experience. Warwick's character is particularly interesting: the way he thinks, plans, and executes is so clever, and he does his job exceptionally well. Some familiar faces return, and I loved reading about their character development, while the new faces introduced are pivotal in this chase. The themes of thrill, conspiracy, and political intrigue are excellently written, a testament to Jeffrey's brilliant art of storytelling. As the last part of the Warwick series, it serves as a perfect ending.

A generous four-stars.

Sentimentality wins for this one. As Archer was one of the first authors I ever read, it is bittersweet to know this is his final book.

The novel itself completes the circle in the series and delivers answers to all the riddles created by Archer. The plot based on the London Olympics read like a data storm at times and in others like a sentimental trip down memory lane. The Warwick/Faulkner/Booth-Watson saga felt forced into the setting rather than supported by the backdrop.

Ultimately, as a reader, I have the resolutions I was hoping for from the series. I am ready to let these characters go - what more could you want.

To Jeffrey Archer, I am grateful his work inspired the reader in me. A brilliant author whose books will never be forgotten.

I have been reading books by Jeffrey Archer for more years than I would like to admit. This is the eighth and final installment in his William Warwick series, which I’ve read three of previously. While it can be enjoyed as a standalone, reading the entire series provides a comprehensive perspective on the characters.

Set in 2012, the London Olympics are about to commence, as are the nightmares for Commander William Warwick, head of Scotland Yard’s elite team. International forces conspire to sabotage the games, thus damaging Britain’s reputation.

With a well crafted plot and well developed characters, this is an engrossing, fast-paced read. It is suspenseful and thrilling; just as one catastrophe is avoided, another emerges.

There are 22 incidents in the book. Archer claims that 13 of them really occurred unbeknownst to the public. However, the true nature of these incidents remains a mystery, leaving readers eager to know the truth.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harper360 for providing me with an eARC.

This was a great book with a unique setting (London Olympics, 2012) for an almost political thriller. It's my first Jeffrey Archer book and I've been meaning to read his books for a long time. This ARC was the perfect opportunity. I enjoyed reading the simultaneous PoVs and "cat and mouse game" of William and Miles (along with the rest of their side). It made the book a lot more thrilling. This book can definitely be read as a standalone but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the rest of the series before -- if only to see the character development unfold. The book was a lot more exciting after the author's note where he mentions that 13 out of the 22 incidents mentioned in the book actually happened. I'm still working that out in my head although I have a few guesses. I did like the ending, it tied up most of the loose ends but I would have liked a few more happy endings rather than bittersweet ones. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fast-paced police/political thriller set at the London Olympics.

Jeffrey Archer’s End Game is more than just a thriller — it’s a deep dive into ambition, power, and the fine line between loyalty and betrayal.

As the title would suggest, this is the final installment of the William Warwick series. The story takes place in 2012 in London, England as the city prepares to host the Olympic Games.. But with a global spotlight comes global risk. The usual advisories start their plan to cause disruption and chaos in the capital city. William Warwick heads the campaign to prevent disaster, from both domestic and international threats.

Jeffrey Archer once again proves his gift for storytelling. Drawing from real events, he opens with a striking note. Readers will discover twenty-two incidents that took place during the Olympics. Thirteen of them actually happened, though the public never knew. Two were serious enough that, had they not been stopped by security forces, the Games could have been derailed entirely.

Fans of the Warwick series will be pleased to learn that many of the favorite characters return. The twins are now adults. Beth and Christine are still working at the gallery, and Miles Faulkner and his trusty sidekick Booth Watson are still looking to cause mayhem if it means they can make some money.

I have loved so many of Archers books and this one was no exception. The pace is relentless with most chapters ending on a cliff hanger ensuring you can’t put the book down. It’s an adrenaline rush as Warwick uncovers one plot after another, racing to shut them down in a classic cat and mouse battle

Many thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins for my advance copy.

Jeffrey Archer's latest William Warwick book chronicles the pride Great Britain feels as it hosts the Olympic Games. William Warwick is responsible for security at the Olympics and must be ready for his toughest assignment yet. The belief that some would like to embarrass has Warwick and his
men identifying all possible attacks on the Olympic Games and working constantly to counter those who would like nothing better than to disrupt and ruin the Games by any means possible. Lots of action, this excellent mix of old and new characters, and their interactions, made for a wild ride that kept me eager to see where and how the story ends.

I received an ARC for free and gave my honest opinion voluntarily.

OK. Good news is the series has finally ended. Better news is that this one as probably the better of the lot from the entire series, the rest of which were frankly disappointing. There was a credible plot in this one and a significant threat and not just the childish whims of Miles Faulkner. It's fun to guess which of the 13 out of 22 incidents he mentions at the start really did happen.

This is the 8th and last book in the William Warwick series. It can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading the series in order for better understanding of the characters storylines. The story is set predominantly in 2012 and we find Commander Warwick in charge of security for the 2012 London Olympics. London is under the spotlight and everything needs to run smoothly, but there are certain people who want London, and in particular Warwick to fail.

This has been a series which has grown on me. It took me a while to warm to William Warwick in the first couple of books, but by this one I've found him to be a great character. He has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and I really liked that this book was mainly focussed on him, his team and the planning for the Olympic Games. William has been out to catch conman Miles Faulkner since the beginning and I found myself hoping that he was going to do it this time! I loved the book being set in London, and from a time which I could easily relate to. As I read I could picture the landmarks featured and this helped hook me into the storyline very early on.

The storyline is fast paced and we get thrown straight into the action from the beginning. The story is told from different perspectives, but mainly from Warwick and Faulkner's and we are left with cliff-hanger after cliff-hanger at the end of every chapter. It is mentioned in the author's notes that there are 22 incidents throughout the book and 13 of them were real and actually happened. Some of them are obvious, but I was left wondering which of the others really did happen and enjoyed trying to guess (just a shame we weren't told which ones they were!!). The ending was great and it rounded off the whole series perfectly. I shall be sad to see this series finish, but excited to see what this author will come up with next!

My Rating : 4.25/5
.
With a great blend of historical facts and some fictional drama, this conclusion to our beloved Warwick novels definitely captured my heart ! The setting of London Olympics games gave me a bench to compare the real with the fictional world, and I had much fun guessing which events actually happened during the actual games!
.
William and Ross definitely came back with a ' high-stress, sitting at the edge of your seat because lives of millions depend upon a single decision ' kind of situation and I had such a great time reading this book! I loved all the get-togethers we got over the course of the book, some unlikely friendships were formed, we definitely got some satisfying revenge moments, and shocking revelations!! I loved William and Beth and their dry humour filled relationship, the bond between Ross and Artemisia was adorable, and I definitely did not expect Miles to do what he did towards the end !! There are some heavy topics discussed about politics, betrayal and a love story that never was. You get to see the relationship between everyone and the ending definitely made me feel every emotion!!
.
Overall, this series as a whole is such a great series to binge if you are a fan of extremely engaging storyline, fast paced plot and the addictive writing style!! This was such a satisfying conclusion to this brilliant series, and I just want to go back to where we started first and read them again!!

London has been chosen as the host city for the 2012 Olympic Games and Commander William Warwick is in charge of security. With the support of his former team—Ross Hogan, Jackie Roycroft, and Rebecca Pankhurst—he's responsible for ensuring that the Games run smoothly. Little does he know what a challenge this will be.

When Warwick's archnemesis Miles Faulkner decides to team up with two other powerful entities, it will take all of Warwick and his team's ingenuity and strategic thinking to identify the threats and keep ahead. But it may not be enough to prevent tragedy.

The book outlines 22 potential threats to the Games. According to Jeffrey Archer, 13 of them actually occurred in real life. He deliberately leaves it to the reader’s imagination to discern which incidents are based on real events and which are fictional.

Having read (and loved) all of the William Warwick books, I considered this an immensely satisfying conclusion. I'm grateful to have taken this literary rollercoaster ride with a master storyteller.

What a finale. Having read the previous seven, I'm a bit sad that this series has now come to an end.
Commander William Warwick is in charge of security for the 2012 Olympic Games with his regular team. It's his job to make sure that everything goes off without a hitch.
Unfortunately, there are the Russians and Chinese who want to see London fail and be the laughing stock of the world.
Add into the mix Miles Faulkner, and you can be sure that there are plenty of fireworks.
I absolutely devoured this. Archer is a master at storytelling. The detail is phenomenal.
In the beginning, Archer tells us that there were twenty-two threats. Thirteen were real, and the rest he made up. I could only guess at which was which. Very scary if any of the threats were carried out.
I thought it was a very satisfying ending to the series.
I look forward to what Archer writes next.

Goodreads Review, ‘End Game’ by Jeffrey Archer

This is the 8th book in Jeffrey Archer’s William Warwick Novels. I consider the Warwick series as ‘fantasy’. Of course that is tongue in cheek as the novels have followed the policing career of Warwick from his lowly beginnings to his now senior position as Commander William Warwick heads up Scotland Yards elite team overlooking the security for the 2012 London Olympic Games. This latest volume includes the regular band guys and the evolving policing careers of multiple sub-characters that Archer uses to populate his Warwick universe. An easy and quick read. Entertaining and a vapid page turning detective/policing novel series that fills the gap. Nothing new here. Great read for long journeys by plane, trains and Greyhound. Bought for $24.00 from Big W Library. Enjoy.

William Warwick squares off against Miles Faulkner once again in the finale of the series.

Set in London, William heads up the security for the 2012 Olympic Games. But will it all go without a hitch?

This book had me gripped from the start!
I’m absolutely gutted this is the last one, but what a finish. The fast pace, the twists, the turns. It’s clever, believable and unputdownable. The ending is *chefs kiss*

Loved that Peter and Artemisia had more of a role. All grown up and adulting. Chips off the old block, those two!

Another gripping tale comes to an end. Set against the backdrop of 2012 London Olympics, it was a compelling read as the Wliiliam Warwick - M Falkner/Booth Watson game plays out.. The author has described 22 events of which only 13 are true and the rest are his imagination.. Wonder which ones are true.. As I found out by searching, a few are definitely true but cannot guess the others. Some, of course, are obvious as imaginations..

I read somewhere the he is now writing another standalone novel... Will be eagerly waiting..

Truly Remarkable!
When I came across this one, I was immediately fascinated by the author since his previous work that I'd read was amazing, so I thought I'd give him another chance. The title was really enticing. I was unaware that this was the last in the series, but after reading it, I'll definitely be going back to read the previous William Warwick books.
The story revolves around the 2012 London Olympics, where William Warwick is tasked with securing the entire event while Miles Faulkner does everything in his selfish power to turn things upside down—shaking hands with Russians and Chinese to make London a laughing stock in front of the whole world. There are 22 incidents described in the book, and Archer claims that 13 of them actually occurred, unknown to the public. However, the true nature of these incidents remains a mystery.
The story is divided perfectly into three parts: before the games, during the games, and after the games. It's not overly lengthy, but every page keeps you on edge. The thrill that comes with it makes the novel absolutely intriguing. Everything feels incredibly authentic—how politics works, how someone will do anything in their power to destroy others just to fill their own pockets, how world leaders play games for their personal gain, and abuse their power. On the flip side, we see the tireless efforts of security personnel working day and night, staying on high alert and handling everything flawlessly, even if it means risking their lives in the process.
The character development is well-crafted and engrossing, with fast-paced plotting. It's a thrilling read where catastrophes unfold one by one, leaving you wondering when they'll finally end.

And that's a wrap!

This book marks the conclusion of William Warwick's story, along with his adversary Miles Faulkner, his associate Booth Watson, and their long-standing conflict.

It was yet another very entertaining read, set against the backdrop of the 2012 Olympic Games held in the UK. An intriguing detail, as mentioned by Jeffrey Archer, is that the book incorporates 22 incidents, with 13 of them being based on actual events, leaving the reader to discern the true from the fictional.

Will we have the pleasure of a new series featuring characters from this series? Only time will tell.

I really enjoyed End Game, the final in the William Warwick series by Jeffrey Archer, the master storyteller!

End Game is set in London just prior to the Olympic games where Commander William Warwick is heading up the games security for Scotland Yard's elite team and as you can imagine there are lots of attacks with the spotlight on London, but can William and his team keep things on track? (literally)?

As usual in all of Archer's books, its very detailed and clearly a lot of research done and they are all brilliant. I'm disappointed the series has come to an end but its a brilliant book to complete the series. It as all the usual family members, staff and William's adversaries. I really enjoyed more detail on William's family and they played a great part.

Can William and his team save the games or will everything end in tragedy?

A brilliant series and I one hundred per cent recommend them all. Archer is also going to be hanging up his pen after his next book and it is 50 years since his first book was published, but I'm sure it will be another showstopper and I've heard, better than Kane and Abel. In the meantime I'm hoping some of his previous works will hit the small screen in the not too distant future.
