Sometimes the life you build isn't the life you need.
MC Molina is a rising star in PR, living in a sleek Seattle townhouse with her brilliant, comic-obsessed wife, Elsa. But when MC’s career crashes and she inherits her grandfather’s crumbling farm, long-buried dreams resurface—she’s ready to trade deadlines for dirt.
Elsa Snow thrives on city energy, caffeine, and creative chaos. Following MC to rural Haney, Washington means risking the biggest opportunity of her career—and confronting the fear that her neurodivergence might be too much for the quiet life, or for MC.
As they battle small-town drama, a scheming land-grabber, and the ghosts of their own expectations, MC and Elsa must decide what they’re really fighting the farm, their futures… or each other.
A tender, sharply funny novel about love, reinvention, and the messy magic of starting over.
Alex Washoe (they/them) is a nonbinary writer, game designer, and full-time pet parent living in Seattle, WA. In previous incarnations, they have been a bookseller, a wildlife rehab care assistant, a dog walker at a companion animal shelter, a public speaker, an amateur stand-up comedian, and many other less interesting things. Alex is prone to sudden, seemingly random enthusiasms — the list currently includes birdwatching, baking, running, hair dye … and of course writing. Writing is always job one.
This was a fabulous book. I’d recommend it to anyone. Fantastic character development. Really loved the many varied “how we met” scenarios. Looking forward to their other books.
