Skye McKenna grew up in a mining town in the Australian outback. Surrounded by the red dust of the Pilbara, she developed a healthy respect for wild things and wild places at a young age. Seeking adventures of her own, she travelled to the UK and fell in love with the British countryside.
Skye now lives in Scotland and works for a heritage charity, with whom she recently curated an exhibition on medieval magic. When she’s not reading and writing, she goes looking for stories in the hills and forests of her new home.
💜If you want to dive into perilous adventures in a world of witches, spells, and magic, then Stonewitch is exactly what you’re looking for.
🐾The Plot: We continue to follow Cassandra Morga, a young witch, as she walks her magical path. Cassie still worries and suffers greatly because of her mother’s past, and she tries to uncover what truly happened to her. In this book, Cassie and her friends travel to Scotland to take part in challenging games. The young witch must invent a new spell to earn her Sterling pin and complete the next step in her training. But dark and evil forces never sleep, making Cassie’s journey even more dangerous.
💜The Writing Style: This is the fourth book in the series. Like the previous ones, it is well-paced, twisty, adventurous, and utterly magical. It’s an easy and enjoyable read. The story is full of illuminating facts and vivid descriptions of Scotland. The author maintains a perfectly witchy spirit, making you believe that magic is real—even if we can’t always notice it. Many moral lessons encourage you to reflect and look at certain things from a different perspective.
🐾The Characters: I was so happy to see the familiar characters again. They have changed, matured, and become more solid and deep. It was fascinating to observe their gradual transformation in this book. I was also curious to meet the new characters. The author managed to introduce them in a loving way—much like introducing new friends to old ones—with due respect and gentle care. All of them are perfectly thought out, vivid, and memorable. My emotional connection with the old characters grew even stronger, and with the new ones, it was established almost instantly.
🤌The Fave Quote: “Time is the great revealer, child. It puts all things in perspective."
💜Would I read other books by this author: Sure!
⭐️My humble rating is: 5/5
💜P.S. This series is not only for middle graders, but for all those who believe in magic and are ready to take part in the adventures with the witches to the fullest. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, “Queen’s Witch,” which will be released in 2026!
☺️I do hope you’ll enjoy reading “Stonewitch” as much as I did!
🙏🏼Anyway, thank you for dropping by and reading this review.
