A Storm of Wind and Ice is book two in the Fated to the Thrones series. This book is Darker. Spicier. More Action-Packed. Please download the free sample and review the trigger warnings before diving in.
The war for the thrones had only just begun.
Fleeing Irongate’s ashes, I stepped into the Fae lands with a single goal—bend every court to my cause before my enemies rose against me. Luminara gleamed with beauty, but beneath its bioluminescent glow, I found only politics and betrayal.
Whispers spread of relics powerful enough to shatter kingdoms—relics Thrandor was already moving to claim.
I forged alliances with the cunning and the damned. But war was never built on loyalty—it was built on knives in the dark. And when Thrandor took something he should never have touched, my world was thrown into chaos.
I had won battles. I had claimed crowns.
But when what was taken from me was the one thing I could not lose… I broke.

“Put.It.Back”!! OMG that ending had me screaming! The power of this couple is awe inspiring! I love how fierce she is and how well the MMC balances her. There were so many twists it kept it so interesting. The spice gets kicked up a notch. Again I warn you, you will be hooked and devastated when you get to the final chapter!
I am so glad I continued on with this series because book two was more intense than the first book and honestly with the first one I felt decently satisfied with the ending this one left me heartbroken! Now I have to wait for book three after this emotional damage to hopefully put the pieces back together. Love the found family and all of the friendships and bonds that are formed. The change of scenery into the fae lands was fun and CJ did beautiful work with the world building. Aside from the heart palpitations in the last chapter I devoured the book in a day so yeah I enjoyed it.
4.75 ⭐️ First book was good, but this book , book 2, was insane. Zayn had SO MANY swoon worthy MMC moments... "I'm going to worship you until you can't remember your own name ...until all you know is mine." " I'll never want another sunrise, another kingdom, another breath if it's not with you" "Gods help me, she was my drug, and I was far past addicted." Zayn really turned up the spice and heat in this book, and not with just with the smut. So many swoon worthy moments and quotes. I also really liked Fintan in this book. I felt his heartbreak at losing Elara. Then, when he was unsure of the mate bond and fought to take control...wow. My only complaint is Elara's use of "Daddy" ( hence not a perfect 5 ⭐️) . It's just an Ick for me. But the cliffhander ending had my heart in my throat, and I nearly threw my kindle across the room I need book 3 asap. Thank you for choosing me to be an ARC Reader.
We get to follow Elara and Zayn, plus their dragons! 💜
Elara learns more about her powers and shows the Fae lands who their queen is! Earning the fear, and respect, of many after showing them what happens when you backstab the court.
Zayn is the still the golden retriever mixed with touch-her-and-die troupe we loved from the first book. But we get more insight, fantastic quotes and spice than before! 🥵 The things this man does with his ice powers is suprising. 🫣
This book has more POVs showing the thoughts of other characters this time. Including Fintan 😄 and Thrandor 😡.
Eryn and Kalista are still Elara's besties, and we get to meet Nymeria this time!
Misun and Ninaria's bond with Elara and Zayn is deeper in this book. And their wit and sass made me laugh throughout!
I regret choices made reading this book before the next one comes out next year as I'm sitting here crying from this cliffhanger. 😭
I just finished the book and I'm emotionally devastated with this cliffhanger! I need to process before I can write more. I NEED the next book! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Update: In book 1, I fell in love with the characters. This book continues adding more depth to them and I'm completely emotionally attached.
At one point, I felt like this book didn't have enough action in it. There was a lot of court intrigue and character development setting things up for later in the book. It took me a little longer to read than book 1. However, once I got closer to the end, all the action there, took my breath away. There was so much, I couldn't but the book down! And the ending.... what a cliffhanger? I definitely didn't see that coming!
This quote from the book sums up how I felt immediately after I finished reading.
Like my heart was "tearing with agony until it left nothing but an echo."
4.5 Stars!! Wow. If you thought this series couldn't get any better, you were wrong. Not often does a sequel match the greatness of book one. This one OUT DID the first book.
The politics, the characters continue growth and depth, the relationships, dragons, relics, and one of my absolute favorite micro tropes (tattoo markings from the gods themselves).
The characters continue to be dynamic and so so enjoyable to read about. Also, I've never read a book where you get the villains POV - that was crazy.
I was left guessing the turns, and not often did I guess them correctly. There are so many threads that I cannot wait to see play out.
Also, I am in the worst book slump ever right now, and I still got through this one in 2 sittings. That's how good it was!
The ending flat out broke my heart, and book three can't come soon enough.
This fantasy novel was an absolute delight to read. From the very first chapter, it pulled me into a rich, imaginative world filled with vivid settings, compelling characters, and just the right amount of mystery and magic. The storytelling was smooth and immersive, and every twist kept me eager to turn the next page. I genuinely enjoyed every moment of it, and I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy—or even just a great story told well. The ending was especially satisfying while still leaving enough unanswered questions to make me immediately want more. I closed the book wishing the next installment was already in my hands.
I absolutely LOVED this book. The characters have so much depth and the world is beautiful! I also really love getting so many different perspectives, as it really gives insight into softener characters. However, anyone interested in reading this should be warned about the cliffhanger at the end, because it’s absolutely brutal. Overall, I can’t recommend this book enough and I sincerely cannot wait until book 3!!
Book two of this series hit just as fucking hard as book one. And again, I DEVOURED this. All my favourites are back. We got dragons, we got fine ass MMCs, we got bad ass FMCs. We got plot on plot on plot. We have spice 😮💨 it gave me everything I needed and then more.
Oh my, if you thought A Storm of Fire and Ash was amazing read this book NOW! Zayn is such a terrific MMC, and those spicy swoon worthy moments are chefs kiss. “I’m going to worship you until you can’t remember your own name…until all you remember is mine.”
Following the deepening bond between Elara and Zayn and their beloved dragons Misun and Ninaria and watching the growth arc is fantastic.
Fintan evolves in this book as well, and you’ll like him more as he grows into his new powers. Eryn and Kalista are still Elara’s besties and Makar and Gavrin are still with us.
The depth of world building and beauty of the fae lands as their Queen shows her worth is breath taking. The world building and curated playlist are two of the things that are quickly making C.J. Greiser one of my favorite authors!
I absolutely loved this second installment of the Fated to the Thrones series and I cannot wait for book 3. Zayn and Elara are back in force and their bond continues to burn hot, and a little ice-cold. Their inner dialogue is great, and I love when their dragons engage. Misun is brilliant. The characters we loved and loathed in book 1 are back, for better or worse… Fintan, Makar, Eryn and Gavrin all make their mark. Along with new faces for us to obsess over. The 🌶️ is hot and there are a few lovely twists that develop.
THIS. BOOK. My gods, what an adrenaline rush! I didn’t think I could fall in love with these characters more, and I definitely did. I’d say more but I don’t want to potentially spoil anything,I just gotta also say hooray for female friendships! Also the ending made me cry(which is also a sign of a great book),I can’t wait for book 3!!! CJ Greiser blew it out of the water again. Amazing!
Okay, so this book was more romance in the beginning, getting through the bonds and understanding them all. But the ending is what saved this book. I love me some fantasy action and this was such a good set up for book 3 (which i will be arc reading soon!!)
What a fun roller coaster of passion and adventure!! The spice between these characters is top notch and I love the personalities of the dragons!!! This book kept me turning the page to see what will happen next and watching Elara come into her own is an amazing experience.
OH MY GOD WHAT?!? 😭😭 I just finished a Storm of Wind and Ice 🥹im wrecked, like completely emotionally wrecked, I don’t know if I’m crying happy tears or gutted tears 😂😭 oh my gods, I loved every second, I laughed, I stared at walls briefly and currently I’m questioning everything and wishing book 3 was ready 🥹😭 I was so ready to continue disliking Fintan but here I am pretty in love with him, Makar is so sweet and unhinged, I love Eryn 🥹 Elara and Zayn forever have my heart 🥺 this one follows Elara and Zayns continued journey, we have a combination of different povs and honestly that just makes it so much better to know what’s going on from other peoples views. Elara and Zayns bond, man that shit gets deep. The things Zayn can do with ice 👀 Misun and Ninaria are so sassy and I love it. I am so grateful to be a part of your arc team and I can’t wait to see what happens next 🖤
I knew from seeing the playlist that I would be wrecked by this book and I am indeed wrecked and I LOVED every second of it!
Onto the good stuff you want to know!
The spice… baby it’s there🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. The mouth on Zayn is something else. But the way that CJ writes Elara and Zayn’s bond is just incredible. The yearning and the need for these will leave you sweating🥵! Also, to say he’s creative with magic is an understatement 😏.
The bond between Misun and Elara. I truly can’t explain the way I felt reading this book when it came to these two. It was so pure. The love, protectiveness and care these two have for each other. Yes they’re bonded together but it is much more and CJ makes you feel that through words. It’s truly incredible. 💛
You are going to appreciate Fintan much more in this book! Don’t worry I won’t spoil it, that’s all I’m going to say!!!
I have the wonderful opportunity to ARC read A Storm of Wind and Ice; book 2 of the Fated to the Thrones series. I was a reader for book one and it was nice to continue with the story. A Storm of Wind and Ice picked up nicely and was a good continuation of A Storm of Fire and Ash from chapter 1. Here we follow into a new land and get to meet more of the fae and other worldly creatures.
For book 1, one of my biggest hang ups was the heave insta-love and it wasn’t until later in the story that mates were introduced. So, the love story in book 1 I personally found not to be my favorite aspect of the book. Book 2 made a significant improvement on the romance/love aspect of the story line, and it was much more enjoyable for me on that aspect. Book 2 is also more action packed, more high stakes, and more knowledge obtaining while still keeping things interesting. It helps answer a lot of hanging questions while still maintaining the entertainment that you would like out of a good book. Then nicely finishes with a rude cliff-hanger for great shock and emotional damage factor.
While we are beginning to get more depth into some of these characters, I do wish for a bit more. Things tend to feel a bit surface level to me, but I have faith this will continue to improve as the series continues.
I at this point still would recommend this series to any fantasy/romantasy reader and have faith that the author can pull it off well.
This book broke me! The world building for Luminara is top-notch! Elara learns more about her powers and how to use them. Fintan gets love and happiness with a twist. Makar is his normal self with some great one liners. I felt all the emotions while reading this book but the ending broke me and left me sobbing on a massive cliff hanger.
I enjoyed the first book, the second book was even better. I liked how the story continued and you got to dig deeper into the characters. Add their dragons with personalities into the mix and it was a fun story. I can't wait to see how it continues.
I absolutely loved diving back into this world! Daddy Z and his peach are back at it and thriving. Dragons, spice, and world building. I loved everything. Please gimme gimme book 3 already
ARC reader here!! sorry for the late review, i’m in the middle of a reading slump (i promise it wasn’t caused by this book though💛!)
SPOILERSSS
this was such a lovely sequel, although the ending left me in shambles. i loved getting to know more about the characters and their backstories, and i’m also glad some characters seem to be getting their (potential) happy endings. i skipped over a decent amount of the spicy scenes, it just felt a little different than the previous book and wasn’t my cup of tea (double pen. / ice scenes). no shame to anyone who likes these types of spicy scenes though<3
i love zayn and the found family (and the dragons of course!) that is made even stronger in this sequel. thank you once again for giving me the opportunity to read this as an ARC!

Beautiful, sexy, and heartbreaking. This book will keep you locked in. Extra steamy with a few twists and turns to keep you coming back. Can’t wait to find out what happens next!!!
I think this was my favourite of the series so far. It was slight more fast paced and kept my interest more. I look forward to seeing how book 3 will turn out.
