Break Me Beautifully

Rate this book
After the death of her aunt and a desperate need for change, Nina accepts a nanny position at her uncle’s remote estate—seeking comfort, and a chance to outrun the shadows of her past. But the man she barely knows isn’t just a grieving widower. Beneath his polished charm lies something far more dangerous—something that awakens Nina’s desires and threatens to unravel her morality.

Then there’s Blake. Her cousin. And when he begins to spiral—driven by grief and a thirst for vengeance over his brother’s tragic death—Nina finds herself trapped between two men bound by blood, secrets, and something far more sinister. One wants to possess her. The other wants to destroy her. And just maybe, she's not as innocent as she once thought.

I think this book may have broken, me.

I love a dark read and the writing was great, but more than anything I kept thinking

..that poor girl.

There is some deeply rooted trauma there and, delicious spice aside, none of the MMCs were good for her.

That said, I was firmly pro Cole from the very beginning. Blake’s behaviour, I simply could not, and still cannot, look past it. Absolutely not.

If you are in the mood for something incredibly dark, craving an age gap romance, and prepared for a proper sob, this book is waiting for you.

You see that title....that's exactly what happened to me while reading this book, it broke me, beautifully.

This book is filled with trauma, abuse, questionable decisions, taboo, heartbreak but also love, growth and spice, which will make you go through alllllll the emotions.
I was at the edge of my seat the entire time, thinking I knew what was going to happen.....well, turns out I did not 😳

Nina gets a job as a nanny at her uncle's house, but she didn't expect to fall hard for uncle (by marriage) Cole.
Cole knows Nina is off limits but he can't help giving in to his feelings, he wants to make her his.

“What do you want to do to me?” she asks “Things that’ll send me straight to hell, baby girl.”

And than there is cousin Blake, who wants to get rid of Nina once and for all, because he believes she had a hand in his little brother's death. But maybe he doesn't only feel hate towards her, maybe he wants her too.

“Nina, the only thing I’m afraid of right now is how easily I could break you.”

What will happen when the lines start to blur, when hate turns into want and the past catches up to them?

I really loved this book, the writing is so good and the story left me staring at a wall but I would read this again for the first time if I could 🖤

Break Me Beautifully

This was hauntingly beautiful. It’s filled with grief, love and hatred and ends with even more grief. It’s so well written that you’re tied into the layers of words that make you feel every single thing these characters are feeling.

It broke me…then broke me some more and I honestly can’t recommend this enough.

Listen… two pages of trigger warnings? So you better buckle up, bookbesties. If you have morals, this is not your stop. The family tree here gets interesting real fast 🤸‍♀️🌳
Uncle by marriage (if that helps anyone sleep at night). Cousin. Eleanor Crowe looked at taboo and went, Let’s make this ✨literary✨, and honestly? She delivered.
At this point, she could write a grocery list and I’d still give it 5 stars 🍌🥖🥚

Taboo relationships (uncle by marriage & cousin)
- Age gap
- Enemies to lovers
- Trauma
- Spicy
- Why choose
- Forbidden love

“I could fight for her. I could beg. But love isn’t a cage”.

I read this book in a day, take from that what you will! So it’s pretty much in the title I should have taken it quite literal because this book did in fact break me beautifully..get your tissues at the ready🥺

Eleanor you have done it again, another one to add to the collection! You know how to make something so broken so beautiful in the way you write, and it’s honestly the best. You really hit me hard with this one but in the best possible way, I think at this point there isn’t anything you could write that I wouldn’t like, you’re amazing🖤

So we have our FMC Nina who gets a job to work for her uncle as a nanny for his youngest son. This is where our story starts between Nina and our first MMC Uncle Cole. They’re fighting their feelings and urges for each other it’s taboo it’s forbidden and they know they shouldn’t, but sometimes we want the things we’re not supposed to have right? Make no mistake Cole worships Nina and shows her love that unfortunately we learn that she has never experienced before, he’s protective and he marks his claim. He will do anything for her and she’s his. His girl.

Then we have our other MMC cousin Blake. The dark, brooding and relentless one. The character development on him was chefs kiss🤌🏼 I did not like Blake to start with but all I will say is my opinion changed. Blake is cruel and torments Nina as he believes she is responsible for his other brother’s death and will go through all lengths to get revenge. He carries so much pain and darkness that it has changed him from the boy he used to be, he has a reputation now and everyone knows not to cross him, but Nina is strong and holds her ground and fights back to his torments.
He also knows one of Nina’s secrets from her past that she doesn’t want anyone to find out, especially Cole. Will Blake expose her to the world? Will Blake break her in the process? It is not as all seems and Blake and Nina learn this the hard way. Will Blake’s feelings change or will he hold this resentment forever?

Does the unconventional relationships work? Will secrets be revealed and destroy them? Can they work through the trauma that’s occurred? Do they all get their happy ending? Well you’re gonna have to get your copy to find out🖤

This book has 2 pages of trigger warnings which if you’re that far down the rabbit hole into dark romance like me I don’t even read them now, but I do urge if you are sensitive to dark traumatic topics then please check the TWs before reading!

From the very first page, break me
beautifully grabbed me by the throat and didn’t let go. And oh boy did it break me beautifully. Heart pounding, eyes burning, completely mesmerised. from beat rising, to heart breaking. Every chapter ended with that unbearable kind of tension that makes you say “just one more chapter” until you realise it’s 3 a.m.

Eleanor Crowe wrote a story that feels alive, sharp prose, haunting imagery, and characters so real you can feel their pulse through the pages. The plot twists were perfectly timed and not overdone, just clever enough to make me question everything I thought I knew. Her writing is a kind of magic. She writes the broken like no one else. Darkness, damage, and all, and somehow makes it beautiful. The way she turns darkness into art, chaos into beauty, as if she’s planting a single flower in a field of weeds and daring it to bloom. Like finding a fragile flower growing in the middle of something wrecked.

What I loved most is how emotionally charged it felt. It wasn’t just suspense; it was intimacy, fear, and heartbreak woven together so seamlessly that I forgot I was reading fiction. The writing thrummed with energy where every word felt deliberate, every silence heavy with meaning.

By the final page, I just sat there, staring, not ready to return to reality, PLEASE tell me there is going to be another book?

⭐ 5/5 stars ) i’d def. Give endless if i could.

Break me neautifully isn’t just a dark romance. it’s a whole experience.
For every dark romance who love books that consume you whole, this one’s a masterpiece. Mark december 11 and prepare yourself to be mesmerized.

4/5 🌶️

WHAT DO YOU MEAN!! respectfully Eleanor... WHAT WAS THAT ENDING! 😭😭😭

This book did what it says on the cover... it broke me beautifully.

Our characters:
Nina FMC
Cole MMC
Blake MMC

Nina is an ex-cam girl who needs to find a job relating to childcare. Her absolute disgusting boyfriend Leo who a drunk druggie makes her feel worthless and is just vile doesn't let her do anything in life.
Her mum & dad say that her Uncle (NOT BLOODY RELATED) Cole needs help with his youngest son Rhys (an absolute CUTIE) so Nina moves in with them and helps them out.

Blake is her cousin who very much dislikes her and isn't afraid to tell her he despises her in all manner of ways. His youngest brother died by suicide and he wants revenge... thinking Nina was the reason he was gone.

Now a lot happened in this book. Abuse, SA, 🍇 by Blake's friends. Throw in a taboo relationship between Nina and Cole to start with (which was just delicious and full of angst and tension and spice!) then throw in a couple of scenes with Blake (yes taboo, again the angst and spice between them)

THROW IN A SCENE WITH THEM ALL TOGETHER!!!

Then have your heart shattered into a million pieces in the last 3 chapters.

Enjoy 😘

🖤 Dark Romance
🖤Taboo (Cousin and Uncle by marriage)
🖤 Age gap
🖤Why chose
🖤Enemies to lovers

I have had the great opportunity to be an ARC reader for this upcoming release. And well what can I say, it certainly did break me beautifully! I am still in shock! You will need some tissues at the ready 😢 I was hooked from the start, it’s one of those books where you say just one more chapter and before you know it, it’s early hours of the morning. I consumed this all up over 48 hours. The twists all come at the right places, some hitting hard! This book had me processing everything and needed time to take it all in and reflect on what happened. Those are the best kind of books and that is all down to the writer. If you like dark, taboo, forbidden romance this is a must read and the spice is spicing 🌶️ Two different MMC’s and I loved that. There is a 2 page list of trigger warning, so do read these before diving in, but for me I like to go in blind for the full effect and oh my did I get that and more.

It has been a while since an author did something so unforgivable to me. Last time was Ashlee Edmonds, and I still haven’t forgiven her for the trauma she caused me. And now Eleanor comes in and destroys me once again.

This was a book that will possibly test you on all accounts and then at the end will just destroy you. Was I pissed off at a few characters? Yes I definitely was especially at Nina, because girl!!!! You should have run from that a-hole so long ago! I mean she had a loving family, I first thought her family sucked which would explain why she was staying with that idiot!

Overall, this was one of a kind book, which I enjoyed, quite a lot. I was not the most happy about the ending, but I kind of understand the reasons for it, even if I don’t agree with it. Plus I would have wanted to see a bit more of character development and feeling development between Nina and Blake, they were explosive together, but she also forgave him a bit too quickly for everything he did to her.

Overall, this was a great book!

Okay, first of all… I want more. Not want—need. Like, why does it feel like Eleanor just fed me a masterpiece and then snatched the plate away? 😩

My emotions went through a blender 😭 Shredded. Stitched up. Torn open again and then dragged me through the dark over and over... like it knew I'd crawl back for more 🖤This book broke me in ways I didn’t know I'd enjoy ❤️‍🩹

I swear I'm dying to scream more about this story. All those dark, messy threads connecting them together and how their cracked pieces fit together a little too perfectly 💔🔗 So wrong, and yet, it's intoxicating. But one step too far and I'll spoil the kind of twists that deserve to blindside you. So I'll shut my mouth 🤐 and let the story chew on you ❤️‍🔥

Definitely a top favorite of mine this year 🖤

A 6☆ read. Sometimes the pain feels like home 💔

Wrecked. This book wrecked me.
The darkest book I've read to date & it left me staring at the wall....
I love Eleanor's writing style. She is a phenomenal storyteller! I devour every page in record time. But she shocked me with this one, showing that not only does she write a good story but that she can pull the deepest, darkest emotions out of you with that storytelling. Wow!
This was not a "kick your feet, giggley little dark romance", it's a story full of trauma, abuse, love, death, revenge & all the feels in between.
I think this is a beautifully written story, but it is nothing short of tragic, and it definitely left me feeling a type of way.
Would I recommend it? YES! But only if you promise to read the trigger warnings and are prepared for a DARK, tragic love story with an ending that will pull your heart from your chest like it's just another Tuesday afternoon..

A uncle taboo romance. This book is dark please check your trigger warning before adventuring down the rabbit hole of this book. This book grabbed my attention so fast and kept getting better and better. Nina is character that I could understand why she made the decisions she made but at the same time you wanted to slap her for making those decisions. I loved her in so many ways. And Blake is someone I could tell needed help and his dad Cole was at a loss how to help him. But the ended ripped me apart. Omg I was not expecting the ending and it broke me was sobbing on the floor. But absolutely loved this book so much. Love the author she has such a beautiful way of writing that will break you into a million pieces and then glue you back together I love it

there were a few moments in the book when I told myself 'NO FUCKING WAY'. there were moments in the book when I had to make sure my partner wasn't peeking at the content LMAO.
this being said, you have everything you could wish for from a dark romance - steamy, borderline abusive and problematic situations (but hey aren't we here exactly for this? 🤪), taboo relationship, some drama and some scenes that made me double check the genre (would love to read some horror from the author 👀🖤). if you're willing to close your eyes at some details, this book will take you to some places you didn't know you needed to go to.
Break Me Beautifully convinced me to read more from Eleanor.
(thanks to the author for the arc!)

This book. Just THIS BOOK is an emotional bomb. It gabbed me in the first chapter and held me against my will until I read the last passage. And during this ordeal I to feel feelings! EVERY god damned feeling on the spectrum!

This book is a rollercoaster. You are not the one in control, but you will feel and almost experience the ride. It is spicy in the most "what the hell did I just" read kind of way. It is also horrifying in other ways. Themes that are taboo in most parts of the world is in the book.

If you have are not sure about this book. READ AND UNDERSTAND THE TRIGGER WARNINGS!

I am not sure if I should curse the author or beg her to write more.

Oh Boy... OH BOY...

Firstly, Eleanor you are a sadist.. that was.. an emotional rollercoaster to say the least.

Nina is a cam girl with a boyfriend who is an absolute piece of scum! After her dad suggests to go an live with her Uncle Cole to help him with the house / kids Nina decides this is the best decision and OH BOY was she right!

Uncle Cole is every bit the protective, broody MMC and when he finally gives into his urges it is absoutely delicious.

Then we meet Blake, Nina’s cousin who quite literally buries her alive.. its toxic, its heated and yet he had my heart by the end.. Speaking of the end, Eleanor i don’t think i’ll ever be able to forgive you!

Where to start?! First of all, its been months since a book has physically brought me to gut wrenching sobs, how absolutely soul destroying the ending of this book was, my heart was in pieces 💔 This book is full of trauma (check your TWs!) Second, the combination of characters in this book were phenomenal! With a few of them really blurring the lines between morally grey and acting completely unhinged, with a lot of 'not ok' decision making going on!
It is one of the best books ive read in ages! 🖤

This is my first Eleanor Crowe book I’ve been lucky to read and wow what I writer she is! Had me hooked from the very first page. The book is just soo wrong but also soo right and just meant to be at the same time!
Perfect read for readers who like taboo, age gap, spicy, forbidden romance, why choose, keep it in the family and a whole lot of trauma

WOW. JUST… WOW. Eleanor, you have outdone yourself yet again.

I laughed, I bit my lip, I cried, and I questioned every life choice that has not yet led me to an older man of my own 😘 The trigger warnings alone were like a forbidden buffet—each one more deliciously chaotic than the last.

This book? A full-blown, unapologetically steamy, taboo masterpiece.
And THAT ENDING??? EXCUSE ME?! Eleanor, babes, you cannot drop a bomb like that and expect me to function normally. I need the follow-up book injected directly into my veins immediately.

I devoured this in under 24 hours because putting it down simply wasn’t an option. It had me on the edge of my seat… and not just because of the plot, if you know what I mean, girls 👀🔥

An emotional hurricane. A sinful rollercoaster. A five-star, shout-it-from-the-rooftops read.

This was so good! The way Eleanor Crowe writes is so naturally effortless that I can lose time just devouring her books.
Nina gets a job working as a nanny for her uncle (by marriage) and both of them are consumed with the chemistry between them. However her cousin Blake is a major problem and despises Nina for reasons unknown.
Nina absolutely goes through some horrendous ordeals in this and there were times i felt so conflicted about Blake & things he allowed to happen.
Soon secrets are revealed, huge plot twists and culminating in absolute tragedy. Absolutely loved it!

A must read for anyone's taboo TBR! Why choose vibes, Cole and Blake are to very different sides to the same addictive coin. Eleanor Crowe has the amazing ability to write life, trauma, and love that allows you to feel everything she's saying, to have those experiences with your F/MMC. With Nina, it's a wild ride from start to finish! I barely put it down, and recommend that everyone do the same!! Be sure to read the TW's. Mental Health Matters!
