I feared that getting banished from the fae realm was going to be the end of my story. Turns out, it’s only the beginning.
Killing a king does come with repercussions, apparently. Because now I’m stuck on Earth while Rune’s still in Verenthia, probably fighting for his very life while I’m…well, Googling vampires and mermaids, and trying not to lose my damned mind.
Yeah, it’s been a week.
When a strange creature shows up in the forest in the middle of the night claiming to know a way back, I dive headfirst into the impossible—and somehow, it works. But what I find when I return is very different from anything I could have expected.
Verenthia is dying. The balance of magic is almost completely ruined, and the stars have sent one last warning. One last hope.
So now it’s up to us to find a missing heir nobody even knew existed, to restore the balance in the realm.
Easy, right? Except nothing in Verenthia ever is.
Between curses and betrayals and secrets that refuse to stay buried, I start to realize that saving the realm might mean losing the only thing that has ever made me feel whole—Rune.
And what’s a girl to do with a palace and a throne, when her heart is in another kingdom?
3.5 stars for me. Rune's father before his death banish Nilah back to Earth.Finding a way back and then claim the throne will not be easy.Verenthia is dying.Nilah and Rune must ensure that every court have an heir, but Lyall wants to rule all courts by himself.
Will they get there before Lyall and find Unseelie heir?
It was adventure and action paced from the go,good end to the series. My only problem was Nilah constantly question herself and never actually use this great power that she's supposed to have.I was waiting for some big moment when she put Lyall in his place, but there was nothing.Overall good conclusion to the series but not my favorite.
“Isn’t it curious how we romanticize the stars but vilify the darkness that makes them visible? You wouldn’t see the stars at all without it,” she said. “If you stare at it for long enough, you’ll find that it’s not nothing. It’s everything that hides up there.”
“Boundless,” by D. N. Hoxa
There isn’t a lot I can say about this book without spoiling it because it’s book 4 of the series. It had the same pace and vibe as the rest of the series. I love the characters and was so happy to see them fight for each other and what they thought was right. I loved the adventure plot and all the characters, main and side alike. There was a ton of action in this one and so much political intrigue. Such a good series, 4 out of 5 stars.
Rvcd an ARC from the author for voluntarily leaving a review. Amazing!! this is why Dori is one of fav authors. she reels you in and bam!!

Nilah is home on Earth after being banished by the former Midnight King. she tries desperately to get back to Rune but the banished mark prohibits it. Rune is now king of the Midnight court and the palace won't let him leave. he is desperate trying to find Nilah but he knows the mark she bears. Nilah and her BFF Betty meet a golum who saw Nilah's online pleas and her job is to erase anything about their world. This golum tells Nilah about leylines and it gives her an idea. Rune along with the frost Queens pet Vair come up with a plan to bring Nilah back but there's a cost associated with it. Their world is under attack by a Curse and the only way to stop the spread is by uniting all the courts but that is a hardship all in itself.
I can't believe that at 31% Nilah was still calling herself human. Made me so GD angry I wish I could shake her.
At 41% she's still burying her head in the sand and in Nilah's rumination about how she felt she could handle herself and nothing surprised her as it once did, "No, I could never say this out loud. Not to Maera, and not to myself." No s***. Coward.
THEN at 43%, “My name is Nilah Dune. I am not the Ice Queen,” I'm truly confounded. I don't understand how I can like a story while despising the main character so GD much. I truly think she's a dumpster fire and would be no where without the supporting characters hauling her up. She doesn't lean on them, they carry her all the way to the finish like because she's a coward.
What I feel for her character isn't even a 'love to hate' situation, just plain there's nothing to like about her at all. I've found truly evil characters that I respected more. Nilah is truly useless and for people who will cry, "she's so young! She's acting like her age!" Well, people, her age, or anyone's really, has nothing to do with anything. Age doesn't dictate maturity and Nilah, for all intents and purposes, is not someone who contains an ounce of mental and/or emotional maturity. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
Half way through the final book and she's still wilfully ignorant and floundering around because of it.
Then at 93% it finally happens. She stops being a useless chicken s*** and finally says, “I am not a mortal, asshole. I’m the Ice Queen.” Don't to get too excited though because she still hasn't learned or began to train to know how to use her magic or rule a kingdom. I wouldn't even classify the ending as good for anyone with her in charge if Rune wasn't by her side.
Again, I actually liked the story. Liked it enough that I read all 4 books. I genuinely don't know how I can like when I hated and was disgusted by the FMC, especially because the majority of the books is from her POV. Blows my mind but there it is.
Thank you to the author for an e-arc of this book!
The final installment of this series and Nilah and Rune are once again thrust away from one another.
Rune killed the Midnight King, his father, but not before his father banished Nilah from the realm and back to Earth. Earth…the place she had not so recently been bound and determined to go back to. Now, she will do anything she can to get back to Rune. But the realm won’t let her back, despite her magic. On top of it, she still needs answers as to why she looks like the dead Ice Queen. The realm is at risk of dying if she doesn’t find her way back and reunite each kingdom with their rightful heirs, but there are those who wish to stand in her way to her goal. And even if they succeed, will laws and ancient traditions even allow Nilah and Rune to be together?
We’ve been on quite the ride with Nilah and Rune. Last book, we spent majority of it with them apart from one another and we begin this book the same way and spend a good chunk of the book that way. The story itself still remains pretty fast paced and we finally get some answers to the questions we’ve been asking for so long.
We meet some old friends and add some new allies/characters along the way this time. Hil is definitely a fun character 😊 wish we could have had more of him. lol.
I was hoping/expecting a bit more from the spice 🌶️ this time, and while it’s there, I needed more. These 2 have been separated so much this series, I just wanted them to be completely all over each other, and actually READ those parts, not get the implied aspect of it.
I’m going to miss Nilah and Rune 💔 and I wish we could have gotten Betty to meet Rune. That would have been a hilarious scene lol.
This book makes me want to live in the fantasy world.
Overall, i enjoyed the series, nilah however could have used a lot of work.
I loved the world building in the series, especially in this installment. Over the course of time, you travel throughout verenthia. It was awesome to see the different courts and spend a little time in each court. With each court, it was revealed a little more about their magic system. I honestly wanted to spend more time in each court.
Lets talk about Nilah. In no way did i feel that she went through character growth. She seemed to be the same person with the same dramatic thoughts at every point in time. Still whiney, all about Rune, and passes out so many times during the book it didnt make sense how she was still alive… oh wait, Rune saved her multiple times. Without him, she would have been overthrown and killed, her power undermined. Honestly, she probably would have killed herself just from not knowing how to use her magic, which she says so herself. Will she learn? Does she have a desire to learn? I dont think she does. It just magically clicks into place for her like every other thing in this book. Its frustrating to see a character get dragged through plot and saved by the hunk at every turn. Its pure luck she made it without him. I did not care for the part that rune basically cemented her rule. She didnt fight for it. Because she knew she was going to lose. Rune saved her yet again. That doesnt necessarily lend to the trope of strong female character.
Also, did she even have an editor for this? If so, girl find you another one that doesnt shit on character growth.
I still enjoy the author and her writings, theres just so much more potential waiting.

"Isn't it curious how we romanticize the stars, but vilify the darkness that makes them visible? You wouldn't see the stars at all without it."
So excited for the conclusion of the Royal Sins series! The plot, world building, and characters are spot on! The adventures are vividly written and we are transported to their world.
Nilah's story picks up right where she left off, back home on Earth. She needs to get back to Rune, but her banishment marks prevent her. Rune is trying to leave the Midnight Court after he became king, but he is prohibited from leaving.
Nilah needs answers, so along with her best friend, Betty and an interesting creature Arez, they set out to find a way back for Nilah to return to Verenthia. When she finally returns, she learns that Verenthia is dying.
She needs to find the true heir of the Unseelie kingdom and put them back on the throne before the magic is gone and the curse remains. Nilah has to work with others, but who? "We must all live with the consequences of our actions, whether they be good or bad." I don't want to give anything away, so you need to grab the book and read it to find out what happens!
This was the perfect conclusion to a beautiful series. The blend of magic, romance, mystery, and intrigue kept me captivated, eager to dive deeper into the realm and become a character in the story. I will miss all the characters, but I cherish the opportunity I had to be a part of their journey!
Oh, my...I loved this epic conclusion to this fantastic series.
This king is dead, long live the new King of the Midnight Court, Rune. Unfortunately, before the old king died he managed to banish Nilah back to Earth, but she is determined to find a way back to Verenthia, and Rune. Nilah spends a week desperately searching for a way to return to Rune, but it isn’t until another banished creature shows up in the middle of the night that she finally finds a way to return. But Verenthia is not what it was, and unless Nilah and her allies can find a way to break the curse that is destroying the magic of the fae and their realm, the realm of Verenthia will die. In order to save Verenthia and all its inhabitants Nilah will have an impossible choice that could cost her the love of her life. These characters are complex and always evolving so I was engrossed from the first page to the last. The unexpected twists in the plot along with the magic, bloody confrontations, betrayals, and the steamy interactions of the main characters made it impossible to put this book down. I highly recommend this book and series to other reader of the genre, but I must add that it is absolutely necessary to read this series in order.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC provided by the author.
I was granted the pleasure of reading this series as an ARC, and D.N. did not disappoint. Rune and Nilah thankfully make it back to each other, but I was worried there for a few chapters. Without giving too much away, there is a lot that is revealed that I had questions about. But DAMN this series is SO good.
I only have two gripes, which is hard for me to admit because I love this damn series!
What ever happened to Arez? Did she ever make it back to Verenthian?
And the ending......I kinda feel like it just....ended. Came to a screeching halt is more like it. I feel like there are some loose ends that needed to be tied up and they weren't. Honestly, I hope the author releases a 4.5 for this series, just to tie everything up.
Thank you D.N. Hoxa for allowing me to be apart of this journey with you. I cannot wait for your next book. And while this was the first series I've read by her, needless to say, I am a fan for life.
I can’t say much with out spoiling too much as it is book four in the series! But we continue where we left off in book 3. I love the characters and was so happy to see them fight for each other and what they believed in. the adventure and plot. I was hooked and have been for the series! Filled with action and politics that just makes you want mores Such a good series such an epic conclusion!
"Isn't it curious how we romanticize the stars but vilify the darkness that makes them visible? You wouldn't see the stars at all without it," she said. "If you stare at it for long enough, you'll find that it's not nothing. It's everything that hides up there."
So this series as a whole was just not for me. The real rating is more like a 2.5 ⭐️but definitely not a 3.
I just couldn’t get behind the FMC. She wa literally so whiney and weak and annoying the whole series long. I honestly thought it would get better for the last book but it didn’t. If anything, it got worse. And the whole inn s to hey back to the fae lands but I can’t leave my family and then once I am back in the fae lands I can’t possibly stay here because my family but I can’t leave Rune and why me. It was just so annoying and awful and the story as a whole was drawn out longer than it needed to be. I’m sure this writing style and story line are for some people, but it just was absolutely not for me.
In Boundless, D.N. Hoxa delivers a gripping, magical thrill ride where love, destiny, and danger collide. Our fierce Nilah fights her way back to a dying realm, searching for hope, a missing heir, and her heart, aka Rune, the broody fae warrior we're all collectively obsessed with.
The worldbuilding is lush, the stakes are high, and the romance is painfully perfect. If you're into fae drama, impossible choices, and soul-deep romance with actual plot, Boundless is calling your name. Loudly. With glitter. And probably a curse or two.
A fantasy romance that will break your heart and rebuild it with starlight.
Boundless is the fourth book of the Royal Sins storyline bringing the quartet to a satisfying conclusion, but not before Nilah who has been returned to her own Earth realm, searches for a way to return to Rune left behind in Verenthia. The magic, passion, danger, betrayals, secrets, intrigue, action, and adventure continues to power engaging writing, and fascinating characters as they journey down the roads of a dying Verenthia leading to battles still to be fought, sacrifices to be made, and a hard won HEA to be earned.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The fourth and final book in the Royal Sins series, Boundless is full of magic, curses, lies, betrayals, and an epic love story. Trying to get back to Rune, Nilah finds another who has been banished in the woods who knows the way back to the fae realm, but things aren’t the way they were in Verenthia. Now it’s a race against time, and a risk of love, to break a curse! This entire series has enraptured me throughout to get to what I was hoping for since the beginning, just had to take a little journey to get there.

The conclusion of the Royal Sins series - Boundless is a whirlwind of adventures and emotions.
There are a ton of things happening in book 4 and it almost feels wrong that the story is over.
Nilah is possibly one of my favorite FMCs this year. Not your typical “I can do this” type of gal but stubborn and self-doubting until the end. She stands up for what she believes is right though. There’s magic and love, light and shadows. Even a dragon!
It puts a pleasant twist on the typical faerie tale ending.
“But I wasn’t born to serve a kingdom, sister—only a woman.”-Rune
Thank you D.N. Hoxa for letting me partake in Nilah’s journey!
This review is for the entire series. I LOVED everything about this story. Not sure I’ve ever loved a couple like I do Nilah and Rune! This series was so well written and so full of adventure. The romance was epic! Lyall was a perfect villain, the type you love to hate. All of the characters are worth meeting, from the sorcerers to the werewolves. There are times when reading a series I get bored and end up skimming but not this time. Every part of the story kept me enthralled and I am really sad that it’s over but I was totally satisfied with how it ended.
This series and this book especially were so stressful, in a good way, I can't even put it into words! I absolutely love the characters, all expect that shit King (homie is awful). I wish there was one last book or novella to wrap up some of the great story development at the end, but my heart is happy with the ending overall. If you don't love Rune, idk what you even like at this point 🤣 If you don't find Hal funny in the book, idk if you have a laughing bone in your body. I cannot recommend this series for it's story, characters, witty banter, and spice enough ❤️
I have been lucky enough to ARC read all four of these books- and let me tell you how amazing this story is!
Its fast paced, there is romance, betrayal, magical creatures, court intrigue, loss, finding ones self, friendship, and so much more.
Even being a four book series, it's fast paced, filled with adventure and surprise!
Do books 1-3 end on some major cliffhangers? Yes. Does book 4 wrap it up nicely? Yes. Is there possibility for a redemption novella in the future? Also yes!
Each book in this series was 5/5 for me! I would recommend to anyone who enjoys romantasy!!
This has been one hell of a ride as we embarked on this incredible journey from book one and this finale was simply epic! A gripping and thrilling adventure where our characters have become like family as we have followed them through secret, lies, betrayals and curses and such an incredible love story for Nilah and Rune. Exciting, enthralling and totally captivating, this had me on the edge of my seat as Nylah has to find her way back to Rune, break the curse and save the dying realm of Verenthian in a race against the clock. This is defiantly a series will revisit time and time again.
Epic ending to an amazing series. At the end of book 3 Nilah was transported back to earth just before Rune killed the current king of the Midnight Court. She wore the traitors mark and the portals wouldn’t allow her entry.
Nilah worked endlessly to get back to Rune. When she finally finds a way, both Nilah and Rune have to figure out a way to be together. Loved the growth of these two characters. The journey was hard and emotional, but the ending was totally worth it. I definitely recommend this series!
I know it sounds contradictory to call the books "Great" and "OK" at the same time, but the author's storytelling method is truly amazing. I love all the books in this series. Honestly, I thought the third book was the finale and was a little annoyed she made another book. I wondered to myself, what the heck is she going to do now. Well my questions where answered on why she made another book. The author answered the big questions, but the unresolved tension in the 4 courts makes me think there's room for a novella or spin-off. That's just my opinion, though.
This series has been a blast and this one was as amazing and chaotic as the rest. Lots of surprises, twists, drama, intrigue, danger and decisions to be made that affect everyone. Nilah is banished and back in the human realm at the beginning but then makes it back and the story really gets crazy and wild from there. So much fun to read and guess what might happen next as I was glued to the end as always. Loved it.
This is the final book of the Royal Sins series, and it starts where book 3 ends with Nilah getting banished to earth and having to find a way back to Rune. So if you want adventure, forbidden romance, fae, magic, dragons, and of course a shadow daddy, Rune is your next book boyfriend. I'm glad to find out the ending of their love story, but I wish Nilah would have accepted who she was sooner, but she was in denial.
This is the fourth and final book for the Royal Sins series. I can’t even put into words how fantastic this book and series are. The fae world was so creative and vibrant. I adored the devotion that Rune and Nilah had for each other. Nilah had a lot to learn and grow from on this series and it was worth it. The story had plenty of action that kept your attention throughout, betrayal, love and perseverance. This one is a keeper.
Wow! I loved how this story played out. I loved the magic and the realm and I really hope we get a little more from it in the future in some way. The love story was lovely, dreamy and everything I like in a good romantasy! I enjoyed getting to see how the stars unraveled and the epic conclusion to the Royal Sins series! This series is definitely one of my top reads this year.
I absolutely adored the ending to this series. I would love an epilogue novella to see more of Rune and Nilah finally having their happy ending.🥹 I enjoyed all 4 books in this series, and am so sad it has came to an end. I am going to miss the side characters especially Maeve and I loved all the different relationship dynamics, the different creatures and the different types of magic.
Nilah & Rune Wow what a fantastic finish to a series that I loved! My favorite is that Nilah & Rune finally get the Happy ending that I was holding on for! I am a total fan of this author's stories for years now! I think that this series is outstanding and I So Highly Recommend It!!! I Loved It!! No Spoilers! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Such a wonderful finale to the storyline. Rune is the perfect boyfriend in this one; giving off swoon worthy declarations til the very end. There are so many layers to the story that makes for a fantastic read. It’s not one to rush but instead to savor.
