I've been on a Drarry kick the past two days. Not sure what the reason is but just wanted to read about my favorite nonexistent couple; sometimes during stressful times you have to go back to basic joys.
It's obvious that the war was hard on everyone as families and friends died at Hogwarts and other places. Everyone has returned for their final year including the one person who is hated by students (Draco Malfoy). The shadow follows him and everyone who was a part of the war; pretty sure it's depression or PTSD but it's never given an official recognition other than "the shadow." Draco is pretty alone and is struggling a lot with his actions and other people's feelings and words. Slowly Draco and Harry develop a ritual of trying to help Draco leave the shadow behind.
This story was good. I'm not sure what it was about this short story but I just didn't like it as much as I expected to. In truth, I think it was the super slow burn of friendship and the ending was nice but not enough for me. It's a nice PG-13 rated short story worth a read but not my favorite Drarry fan fic I've ever read.
Draco's being followed around Hogwarts and being called a murderer and other horrible things. He's initially too damaged to stand up for himself and so he slinks around the school and just keeps taking it. Harry doesn't like this. They keep getting the Great Hall to themselves in the morning for breakfast becasue they're both early risers. They get more comfortable with each other. Very sweet. Very interesting writing style.
Favorite Quote: Harry didn't ask for an explanation. He just knew, and that's what Draco loved about him.
