Not Your Average Guy charts a bold, biblical path forward in a world confused about masculinity. With honesty, grit, and grace, Mickey Eckles challenges men to reject passivity, confront compromise, and pursue godly manhood.
These ten choices are practical, rooted in Scripture, and forged through thirty years of real-life ministry with men from every walk of life.
If you’re spiritually stuck, searching for direction, or tired of pretending, this book will meet you where you are – and call you higher.
This isn’t a lecture. It’s a roadmap to strength, purpose, and freedom.
Mickey goes through ten simple Biblically based principles for men. These are great tips and helpful for any man to think about and incorporate into their lives. It is a very simple and quick read, so if you're planning to use this for a men's group, it should be easy to assign a chapter or go through a chapter in a session. There are also helpful questions after each chapter to begin discussions in a group setting.
I give this book three stars, only because it has very little helpful research material to make it strong and interesting in relation to other similar type books. It is a book written based on primarily personal experiences so it's superficial in depth.
Pastor Mickey Eckles some how seemed to be sitting front and center of my thought process throughout this book, which made this guide one of the most simple and readily understandable maps to work on being more than just an average guy. I will read this again, and will share this with all the men in my life. I pray that the Holy Spirit will guide any man in need of guidance to this book.
