I'm on trial for my name, my throne, and my fated mate. And everyone STILL expects me to save the world.
I'm not a hero. I'm the exact opposite of a hero. I'm a ghoul. I am THE ghoul. I'm the most reviled of the undead. A cannibal. An eater of the mortal flesh I used to wear.
But that hasn't stopped the Cait Sidhe, a Crow Queen, the former regent of Faery, and the Mother herself from looking at me to protect the Seen and Unseen worlds from an ancient god of evil.
And it hasn't stopped my future father-in-law from putting me on trial for betraying my fated mate.
Did I? You decide.
It's only my name, my throne, and the fate of the world at stake.
No pressure.
Publisher's Bone Daddy is a horror novella set in the world of Bevington College. It is not for the squeamish. It is not a romance and does not have a HEA. It is, however, a story about the incredible power of love. Characters from the prior books in the Demonsongs and Bevington College series appear in this book and readers may enjoy Bone Daddy more if they've read at least Ulune's Daughter and Cathmoir's Sons first. Bone Daddy contains spoilers for the prior books. If you're looking for a palate cleanser with an irreverent hero who absolutely does not want to spend his summer saving a world that despises and fears him, Bone Daddy is for you!
I’m EJ and I’m on a mission to set your imagination (and other things) on fire.
Let’s face it, reality is … not great right now. In my stories, love conquers all, my heroes always save the day, and consent is super-sexy. My characters aren’t just names on the page. They’re the friends you wish you had, the lovers you dream about, and the villains you love to hate.
I’m a literary chameleon. One day I’m crafting suspenseful mysteries that will keep you turning pages all night. The next, I’m whisking you away to otherworldly realms where magic is real and every girl gets her dragon. No matter where the story takes us, a happy ending, and a healthy dose of steam, is always guaranteed.
If you’ve made it this far, you’re my kind of reader. Want an all-access pass to my chaotic worlds? Join me on Patreon. You’ll get exclusive stories, character deep-dives, monthly lives with me, and maybe, just maybe a say in whose story gets written next!
Life’s too short to read boring books. Let’s make it steamy, shall we?

Are you looking forward to the spooky season? Would you enjoy a spooky story to get into the mood? You’re in luck,EJ Frost has the perfect story for you! It’s set in the Bevington College world, and many of it’s beloved residents turn up in it. But,if need be,it could be read as a standalone. You’d probably enjoy it more if you read the series, but you don’t have to. Because it’s the start of a series in that same world, but with the next generation.
Having cleared that up,i dó have to warn you….it’s only the beginning of Kartcher’s story. Debt Collector,Prince of Bones,Walker of the First Dark,Kartcher has lived a VERY LONG TIME. As far as a Ghoul is alive, that is…. But now that his mate is born, there’s trouble brewing. More trouble than usual, and one of them is the reason he’s summoned to stand trial for betraying her. His future father-in-law already hates him,and would rather see him sever the bond he has with Nothe. So,his assumed betrayel is a great excuse to get his wish…..
Kartcher already feels like he doesn’t deserve Nothe, and he already doesn’t want to condemn her to an eternity shackled to a spouse like him. But the last thing he would do,is betray her! He hasn’t had carnal thoughts for a VERY LONG TIME,and the thought he would touch another like that horrifies him.
Kartcher may believe he’s not worthy, and he may think he only has enemies that would love to see him,and the world around him, destroyed, but that’s not true. Because he may felt lonely for a very long time,he does have friends. And yes,he does have allies that will stand by his side as he does everything in his power to keep the ones he cares about safe from harm. Even if he insists he doesn’t care about others…..that he isn’t worthy.
So,read Bone Daddy and find out what happens. It’s a rollercoaster ride with evil forces from Hell trying to do their evil thing, and those that will do anything to stop them achieving their goal. It starts with a vicious, immortal self-important snake called Apep that constantly seeks to destroy the world, who offers Kartcher a deal that can’t be trusted. It introduces a sweet furry familiar with hidden depths called Feth, daughter of the Void, joining forces with Kartcher. There’s the Crow Queen, her consorts and family, the former and present fae Thistle King, the Earth Mother, and many more….
Even though it’s not a love story,it does involve love, but of a different kind. It also sets the stage for the future, for those that will roam the grounds and halls of Bevington College in times to come. And i can’t wait to go there,to see what happens!!
EJ Frost has an original writing style. Themes of perception of good and definitely EVIL. Just so much suspense and peril, and spooky that will keep readers turning pages. Just in time for Halloween reads...... A GHOUL is here. An unknown future in the cross fire.!
Bone Daddy is the kind of dark, irreverent, unapologetically unhinged novella that grabs you by the collarbone and drags you straight into the belly of the Bevington College universe with a wink, a snarl, and a bone-dry sense of humor. Frost gives us a narrator who does not want to be the chosen one, the hero, or even remotely likeable… and somehow becomes all three by accident.
Getting the story through the eyes of THE ghoul the most feared, hated, flesh-eating creature of the Undead turns every page into an exercise in empathy, dread, and pure narrative adrenaline. The trial sequences are razor-sharp, laced with tension, family politics, and supernatural stakes high enough to peel the paint off a portal door. And yet, beneath the gore, the gallows humor, and the cosmic terror, there’s a surprising emotional vulnerability: a love story buried under layers of rot, guilt, and destiny.
Readers who relish horror with actual heart where devotion is a weapon, redemption is negotiable, and the protagonist might save the world purely out of spite will devour this. It’s brutal, funny, atmospheric, and wildly compelling. A standout novella with real bite.
What a fascinating, beautiful, surprising story! I love the insights we get into what future stories will tell. And oh, the wide, wide range of emotions I felt regarding my favorite character Feth!
One of my favorite parts is the description of what is known, above and below, about fated mates.
One of my favorite quotes is from Kartcher: There's nothing so clear as hindsight.
I’ve binged read all of the books in this series and like the others, this one was amazing!!! I cannot wait to find out more and the ending was absolutely perfect! IYKYK!! Will be (not so) patiently waiting for the next book in Bevington!!
Absolutely phenomenal. I love, love, love this world. And while this is a short story, EJ does not hold out on the details. I was drawn in from the first page and was sad when it was over. EJ truly knows how to weave a story into something magical. A lot of stories I read and forget but hers stay with me. I don’t know if it’s all the details or the world building or maybe just the characters themselves, but she is truly gifted when it comes to story telling.
Kartcher is definitely one of my new favorite characters. He’s witty, sarcastic, and yet his emotional scars run deep from his past. His interactions and internal thoughts are pure gold, I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. When his emotions shine through, brace yourself. I truly hope he gets his hea.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Bevington book without some of my other favorite characters. I just love these characters so much, I wish I could live in this world. I love that all of the characters stay true to themselves even when making brief appearances in other books. I love all of the attention to detail that EJ gives.
I’m super excited for the next generation books and can not wait to read them. I especially can not wait to read more about Kartcher. I need more of Kartcher.
The story goes... A Ghoul is inherently bad right? My first read from this author. I grabbed it fir the story stayed for the snark. K just had me giggling in a lot of places, his personality on point. Loved Feth! So for a "unlikable kinda guy, he finds himself doing good tasks. He agreed to help a evil God for a priceless boon. And that's where it all gets sketchy. I can do this for you, if you do that for me... is kinda a theme. Magic abound. Ghouls, demons, sidhe, fae. I think even a witch? Oh my! So will our resident bad boy Ghoul getting himself out of hot water?
OMG, what can I say about this fabulous story. Kartcher: the Bone Prince's character is just so good and vastly entertaining. We have so many Bevington College regulars appearing, plus new stand out ones. I truly don't want to say much and spoil this read; you really need to read it!, but Kartcher has lots of misadventures, troubles, moments of true sweetness and a the ending to THIS story was unexpected. Written with style and great imagination. Really can't wait for the next one!
Another great read from this amazing author. The Bone daddy brings ghouls from Hell to the halls of Bevington. A circus of demons and fated mates, what's not to love in the novella. I love this series and to have the Cait twins and the Crow Queen join in the story, makes for a great read. I loved Feth and so want more from her.
