I am a new author that has been hitting the ground running. I have plans for a total of about 60 or more books but it will depend on how I feel and how much more stories I have left in me.
I started writing because I am an avid reader but had always had confusion or questions about why an author went a specific direction or why a character is acting out of character for them to make a certain decision. I never felt it my place to ask the author directly as I am just enjoying their product, but had complained to those around me about something that bothered me; eventually they just told me "if you can do better, then write it yourself". So after realizing I actually could, I did exactly that. I just hope others enjoy what I have to offer.
Honor Bound Beta: Book 1 by Jon Mitchell offers a compelling and heartfelt introduction to a series that explores heroism through the lens of trauma, morality, and personal choice. Rather than focusing solely on extraordinary abilities, this story centers on the emotional journey of Curt Reynolds—a young boy whose life has been shaped by pain and longing, and who suddenly finds himself with the power to become the hero he once prayed for.
What makes this book stand out is its emotional depth. Curt’s struggles are portrayed with sincerity and care, making him a deeply relatable protagonist. As his abilities grow, so does the weight of his decisions. The question isn’t whether Curt can use his power—but whether he can do so without losing himself. This internal conflict gives the story a strong moral backbone and invites readers to reflect on what it truly means to be honorable.
The narrative skillfully balances moments of excitement with quieter, more introspective scenes. Action and drama are present, but they serve the story rather than overshadow it. Watching Curt progress through life, confronting trauma while trying to stay true to his personal code, makes his journey feel authentic and earned.
This book is ideal for readers who enjoy character-driven stories that blend imaginative elements with real emotional stakes. It’s a promising start to a series that values growth, accountability, and the human cost of power.
