Drama filled second chance
Dirty Little Secret, Baby is the fourth book in the Baby Confessions series. This author is new to me and I am happy I discovered her. This book is a solid story with a second chance romance that has enough drama to spin your head. Beth and Alex are two characters that at time had my head muddled as I wanted to shake them both and tell them to just deal with reality. This sometimes can be a bad thing but with this book it make it more engaging at times. Overall this was a good read.

Alex and Beth's Story
This book is better than the author's last two book (I His Bed and Unexpected Seduction) both of which were awful.
This story is longer than it needs to be. Alex Rodgers is a billionaire CEO of a burger food chain who has a ONS with a florist. Naturally, she gets pregnant and doesn't contact him because she is convinced that he discarded her. In truth, his jealous assistant lied to her and he tried to find her, but he didn't know her name.
There is a complicated story about acquiring the lease of her job, the building itself, and the properties across the street, all tied in with a former employee who is now Alex's competitor.
Alex and Beth go back and forth on too many truncated dates, meaning to tell the other person their secrets but never doing it.
The 350 page story would have been more compelling and interesting at 250 pages. But at least this book was moderately entertaining.

This was just stupid and far fetched. I couldn’t even finish it. No one does business in these childish ways and acts this way.

This was the most OTT and unhinged book I’ve read this year….and not in a good way. 0 stars ⭐️
This was a plot soup. The author threw everything and anything into this story.
I knew about 3 chapters in who the villain was and why. This is definitely a book I would not read again. (Possible spoilers ahead)
First we get this absolutely ridiculous plot where a 15k bouquet of flowers is ordered to h’s flower shop. h has to deliver them to get payment. How does this even make sense? What flower shop would do this? Naturally, H did not order these flowers. We find out somebody has been playing “pranks” on him for a few weeks (clearly, some woman is pissed off he’s a manwhore)
Oh yeah, h has an ex named Chris who keeps texting her.
Second, we have H. He’s the manwhore billionaire of a burger chain 🤪
His POV is absolutely disgusting. He has an PA who has big boobs. His POV tells us all about them. He pats his own back because he hasn’t slept with her yet like he has his other previous PAs. He KNOWS she wants to sleep with him, though. At his party, he even puts his hands on her waist and it makes her all flushed.
During the party, some red haired woman slaps him. Oops, that’s the woman he was with over the weekend. He forgot her name or that he was even with her. 🙄🙄
So h arrives to deliver the flowers. H is all like “OMG, she’s so beautiful. I must have her” then proceeds to get her drunk. Then they go and have smex all night long with NO protection. Eek
h wakes and H is gone. Ummm H’s PA (OW) is there though and tells h’s she is there to remove H’s morning-after-trash. Ouch
This is OW’s quote to h
“How would you feel if someone asked you to take out the trash right at the start of your shift?”
One year later, and H now has a man PA. 😂
His POV describes how it’s now easier since he used to seduce all his women PAs. 😡
Anyway, he can’t stop thinking about h. Now it seems he’s become “picky” with picking his smex partners (it doesn’t say if he’s been celibate since h)
We also find out OW went to work for his competitor. H is glad he never slept with her (and he knows his competitor rubs his penis between her big boobs- seriously, this was in his POV)
h now has a 3 month old son. And I struggle to even understand how the flower shop she has survived. Like….she never has customers, she doesn’t make any money, and she’s barely open.
H finds h owns the flower shop. He’s happy to see her again and doesn’t understand why she’s not excited to see him. 😂
H needs that flower shop and his competitor (going to call him OM) also wants it.
So these two yahoos decide to make a million dollar bet on who gets h to bed first and wins the flower shop deal (this is totally not going to backfire on H)
Then….randomly some “just separated from her husband” woman texted H naked pictures of herself wanting to hook up with H. He has a whole POV about how her body was hot. 😬😬
The most annoying part of this whole book is that every time the MCs go to have an actual discussion, it’s always interrupted.
H and h keep breaking up because people keep interfering and spreading lies. Neither MCs actually talk. h finds out about the bet. She’s big mad.
Dummy H never thinks for one minute the 3 month old kid is his. But the doctor tells him when the kid gets chicken pox’s. He just leaves her and the baby there at the hospital.
Then we find out h is married to Chris when Chris tries to attack her. Like……what?
This book starts out where the baby is 3 months old and it never seems like the timeline jumped that much- maybe a few weeks, but by the end he’s already saying dada and mama. 🤷♀️
We also have attempted murder in this plot soup.
Then…..the most ridiculous POV from h in this whole book when some random couple comes to the MCs’ party
“I'm almost sure this is the first time he's talking to a gay couple. But he's doing great, if you ask me”

I'm over this author.
This one wasn't as bad as the prior two books but I'm over the author not having a clue about details.
There were some minor inconsistencies along the way here and there but overall not terrible.
But when it comes to children, this author is seriously clueless. Some of the story killed it but the epilogue destroyed any faith in the author's ability to accurately portray a child (much like the prior book).
The book starts out with the baby (Ben) just under 3 months. Cool. That was legit based on a year passing and such. I'm on board. And they had lots of drama back and forth so we'll put the baby around 4 months then when all the drama is going down. We could even stretch him to 5 months if we wanted but it didn't read like 2 months passed in the story overall. It was all pretty back to back and ongoing day to day.
So then the epilogue (or maybe it wasn't an official epilogue, just a chapter with the "a few months later" attached to it) gives them the few months forward skip in the timeline. A few is like 3-6 per google. Felt more like it was closer to three based on the writing, but let's give them the full six (again, that's generous). So the baby is now a maximum of 11 months old at this point. And you want me to believe this child is calling Dad "daddy" on purpose. And Mom is "mommy" on purpose. Um. No. At that age there barely babbling mama and dada and maybe an uh-oh. And at one point I think Ben said "mommy-broke". Again, not what an 11 month old baby is saying and totally ruined the image of the book at that point. And again, that timeline is GENEROUS!!! I would say the baby was more like 7-8 months max by the end of the book.
Way to kill a story for me? Horrible timelines that make zero sense and poor portrayal of characters. Ben is his own character and we bypassed the "smiling intentionally phase" vs gas and went straight to talking. 🙄🙄🙄🙄
I should make it one star with my annoyance right now but the story wasn't a terrible story overall. Though the new assistant was a bit much. I don't really picture him doing what he did and I don't see him getting off as easy as he did.
Overall, I really need to stop thinking this author will have better books because I'm constantly disappointed and annoyed by the end of the books. Sigh.

"Dirty Little Secret, Baby: Das geheime Baby des Milliardärs" ist der 4. Teil der Baby Confessions Reihe. Die Bücher können unabhängig voneinander gelesen werden. Genauere Informationen zum Buch findet Ihr im Klappentext am Ende der Rezension. In der Geschichte geht es um Beth und Alex. Beth und Alex treffen aufeinander und sofort ist eine besondere Anziehungskraft zwischen den beiden.
Doch dann passieren ein paar Sachen zwischen den beiden. Weitere Informationen zum Buch findet ihr im Klappentext. Ich habe die Geschichte verschlungen. Die Autorin hat ein wundervolles Buch erschaffen. Für mich sind Beth und Alex zwei wundervolle Charaktere. Beide habe ich sofort ins Herz geschlossen. Die Charaktere sind super beschrieben und kommen sehr sympathisch rüber. Das Cover ist toll und passt perfekt zum Buch. Das Buch wird aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven erzählt. Die unterschiedlichen Sichtweisen haben mir super gefallen, da man sich durch die verschiedenen Sichtweisen toll in die Charaktere hineinversetzen kann. Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist absolut fesselnd und mitreißend. Ich konnte das Buch nicht aus der Hand legen. Vielen Dank an die Autorin für die tollen Lesestunden. Ich kann das Buch nur weiterempfehlen. Absolute Leseempfehlung. ❤️❤️❤️

Erst streiten die beiden, daraus entwickelt sich ein heftiger Flirt und nach dem Ende der Veranstaltung landen die beiden im Bett.
Am nächsten Morgen macht er sich natürlich aus dem Staub. Typisch!
Ein Jahr später ist Beth nicht nur Mutter eines Jungen, sie begegnet auch Alex wieder. Er ist derjenige, der ihr den Laden wegnehmen will, um an dessen Stelle eine seiner gesichtslosen Fastfood-Filialen errichten zu lassen. Zugleich macht er Beth eindeutige Avancen und bietet ihr einen mehr als zweifelhaften Deal an, um sein Ziel zu erreichen.
Was soll Beth jetzt tun?
Eigentlich wünscht sie sich einfach nur einen Daddy für ihren kleinen Jungen.

Beth führt einen Blumenladen, der etwas versteckt liegt. Ein Auftrag und sie macht sich auf den Weg, nur als sie vor dem Haus steht, will keiner etwas von bestellten Blumen wissen. Sie ist auf das Geld angewiesen und hofft, dass sich das ganze schnell aufklärt.
Alex nimmt sich der Sache an und bezahlt den nicht bestellten Strauß.
Alex schmeißt eine Party, auf die er im Grunde keine Lust hat aber für sein Geschäft wichtig ist.
Es knistert zwischen den beiden und das ganze endet im Bett, wie soll es auch anders sein.
Am nächsten morgen ist er weg, nur seine Sekretärin ist da und erzählt ihr irgendwas, nur ob das die Wahrheit ist???
Dann muss sie auch noch feststellen, das sie Schwanger von ihm ist.
Beide begegnen sich ein Jahr später wieder, sie hat inzwischen ein Baby und er hat großes vor und dazu braucht er ihren Laden mitsamt dem Grundstück.
Wird sie den Mut haben ihm zu erklären, dass das Baby, welches sie um sich hat ihres ist und nicht das ihrer Freundin.

I'm trying to find something redeemable about this one... but nada! The plot was infuriating. All they had to do was have one adult conversation! All of the conflict was unnecessary. The characters actually seemed to get worse as the story went on, acting more and more childish, I did not care what happened to either, they were both total imbeciles. The story was repetitive and there were so many holes and unbelievable things that happened that really pulled you out of the story.
I think Alex must be the dumbest billionaire I've ever read, his incompetence is not sexy or endearing and not what you expect from a billionaire story. I've already forgotten the FMC's name, but that tracks as she was boring and childish and generally forgettable, especially for someone who is supposed to be a single mother running her own business. She was selfish in so many ways and by the end I was almost rooting for the bad guys....
I think Alex must be the dumbest billionaire I've ever read, his incompetence is not sexy or endearing and not what you expect from a billionaire story. I've already forgotten the FMC's name, but that tracks as she was boring and childish and generally forgettable, especially for someone who is supposed to be a single mother running her own business. Potential is there but too much unresolved questions
This is Beth’s story. It starts off with a prank flower order, corporate espionage, surprise baby.
This had the potential to be a great story but I found it lacking continuity and rather childish interactions between the “competitors” with foolish bets. It’s a bit of a mishmash of Tourette like syndrome in the how things jumped from one end to another with no real sense of any kind of flow. No closure either. Badly behaved people and no consequences.

Author lacks continuity from previous book
The book was okay but felt so similar to the prior book in the series. I also really don’t understand why you would introduce the character of Beth who is the heroine in this book and show how she was best friends with the main character of the previous book and then never mention that character in her book and create a brand new best friend for her. It made it very hard to like this book when she suddenly kept talking about having now support except Veronica when in the book before she had two other great friends.

This is book 4 in this series. I'm enjoying the stories, however, the editing and timelines are bad. The babies are too far forward in their development for the ages of them. Names are wrong, at the start she was Beth Peterson but at the end she was Beth Jackson. Also in book 3, Beth was a good friend of Erica Gunner, along with Sadie. They were always together or talking and a huge help to her during her pregnancy and birth. In this book there is no mention of either of these women but she has a bestie called Veronica who wasn't in the previous book. A lack of continuity for sure.

Don't bother.
So as a series reader this book was annoying. Beth was a solid supporting character in book 3 of this series, but Erica isn't mentioned once?! Not to mention, Erica literally went through the exact same situation. Also, another Veronica in the series? The Veronica in book 2 was a literal crazy person, why would you write another character with the same name?! No, just no. I'm just going to be done with this series, not worth finishing.

The story was too boring, and many of the scenes just jumped. There was no continuity in so many scenes.
Rather than the conversations between the both parties, it was just a lot of thoughts to themselves, which annoyed me a lot.
There was not even enough communication between the hero and heroine.

If I wasn’t so stubborn this would have been a DNF. It dragged on and I felt the behaviors were very childish and immature. It also barely fit in with the other books in the series when I felt like previous characters should have been mentioned more or be more involved. The writing felt very different from the first three books in the series as well.

This was such a awesome and delicate read, what a neat story. Beth and Alex's story. Beth had a one night stand with Alex after trying to deliver flowers to his place. A year later, he finds out that she is the shop owner in a building that he is trying to buy. Secrets and lies on both sides keep these two at odds, but eventually they get their happy ending.

Miscommunication trope and nothing else
Up to... 96% was nothing but a miscommunication trope....... this could have gone so many ways. Added so much more but nope just "interruptions" for this whole thing. Alex was a chump and Beth was just.... ugh....

The love story of Beth and billionaire, Alex follows the usual pattern of this series. You'll see overlap of some of the characters and introduction of new ones. Though it can be read as a standalone.
If you're looking for a mindless, HEA read then you'll enjoy this book.

it's great that Beth had Veronica there helping & supporting her, but what happened to Erica & Sadie? Beth helped Erica put so much ao when Troy was mentioned I thought it was weird her two other best friends weren't. Wouldn't Troy had recognized Beth as Erica's best friend because Erica is his sister? Thought it was odd they weren't apart of her support system.

The story was all over the place. Did this book (and the others in the series) have an editor? If so, a new one is desperately needed. Sheesh. Thankfully I haven’t paid for any books in this series.

From the time the sun was coming up until the sun went down and the stars were shining bright I was reading this mesmerizing romance book by Rebecca. I found my heart skipping beats at times not knowing how things between Beth and Alex were going to work out, and what he would do when he realized he has a kid from his one-night stand. All I can tell you is that this is a must read 10-star book that is EXTREMELY and I mean EXTREMELY hard to put down.

They had a brief encounter that led to a beautiful little boy and now he is back trying to take her livelihood. When Alex comes to town trying to buy out Beth's flower shop chaos is the new game. Will he be the same man when he finds out that Beth's child is his son. This charming story had me all caught up in the characters.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I liked the attraction between Alex and Beth which is very steamy. Unfortunately back stabbing personal assistants and a crooked rival keep getting in the way of them. It takes time but Alex and Beth do finally get together and admit their love. They make a great family with Ben and Cutie.
