Absolutely phenomenal!
I loved this book! Fiona gives us another amazing Scottish Highland tale with this story of Torr and Liliane. Their story actually starts before they meet, when Torr refuses to join a Pact between many local clans that is being run by Angus Campbell. Torr refuses to add Clan MacDonald to be a pawn for Campbell and it turns the other clans against him. The first time the two meet, Liliane is being auctioned off to form an alliance with another clan in the Pact with Clan Munro, where her father is Laird. Torr shows up at the auction and wins the bid for Liliane, keeping her from ending up in the hands of a vile man and keeping her father from getting the alliance he wants. Liliane wants nothing to do with Torr in the beginning and I love how their story unfolds the more time they spend together. But the danger from the Pact always remains and when it comes time to rescue Liliane’s sister Nessa, the danger becomes very real. An ambush looks to be the end of the rescue mission but Torr will find a way to come out victorious and rescue Nessa but it will come with a cost. Angus Campbell, who was there with Roderick Munro will escape and Torr imagines it won’t be long until the Pact comes looking for revenge. But for now, Torr and Liliane get their happily ever after and I can‘t wait to read what Fiona comes up with next!
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
