Laird of Vengeance

Rate this book
“Ye can fight me all ye like, but the next time ye look at me that way, I’ll think ye’re beggin’ me tae claim ye.” Liliane Munro never wanted to marry—least of all be sold like cattle. But when her father threatens to auction her sister instead, she steps into the fire herself…

Only to be claimed by a stranger whose voice drips sin and command

Tòrr MacDonald came to expose his enemy’s corruption, not to leave with a bride. Yet one ruthless bid binds him to a woman too fierce to tame—and too tempting to resist.

Buying her didn’t make her his.

Taking her to his bed certainly did.

And Tòrr MacDonald isn’t the kind of man who ever lets go of what he’s claimed.

They danced between the blurred lines of hate and desire…

Fiona Faris is an American author of authentic historical Medieval & Scottish romance books. She started writing historical highlander romance after she visited the Scottish Highlands years ago with her husband.

Her books have received startling reviews about the humor, the darkness and the romance they have.

She lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband and their two sons. Before she started writing romance, she experienced the various occupations: translator, dog-training, and a substitute English teacher for the most part of her life... However, nothing could ever compare to writing stories depicting the majestic and mysterious Scottish Highlands!

This is book 1 of a new series written by 6 different authors and is the start of by judging this book going to be an excellent series! This series revolves around 6 siblings and each book is one of their stories. This book is Torr’s story who is the Laird of clan MacDonald. After their parents died Torr at a young age had to take over not only leadership of the clan but had to raise his younger siblings. He made a new enemy when he refused to join a pact proposed by Laird Angus Campbell that he would rule over and the other clans had to do what he said or be destroyed. The alliance’s would be secured between them by each Laird offering up their daughters to be sold at an auction where the participating Lairds would be masked so no one knew who was who and they would then bid on the ladies and the highest bid won the lady as their bride therefore securing that alliance between the two clans. Laird MacDonald was so surprised when he received an invite to this auction that he decided to go so he could keep tabs on the happenings. What he hadn’t planned on was actually bidding on and winning one of these brides and in doing so fouling an alliance between two clans that would severely damage his own clans trade routes and prosperity and in turn making 2 more enemies. This book has an excellent plot and cast of characters that keeps you thoroughly engaged and sets the stage for the next books in the series! I highly recommend reading this book and the ones to follow in order!

Absolutely phenomenal!

I loved this book! Fiona gives us another amazing Scottish Highland tale with this story of Torr and Liliane. Their story actually starts before they meet, when Torr refuses to join a Pact between many local clans that is being run by Angus Campbell. Torr refuses to add Clan MacDonald to be a pawn for Campbell and it turns the other clans against him. The first time the two meet, Liliane is being auctioned off to form an alliance with another clan in the Pact with Clan Munro, where her father is Laird. Torr shows up at the auction and wins the bid for Liliane, keeping her from ending up in the hands of a vile man and keeping her father from getting the alliance he wants. Liliane wants nothing to do with Torr in the beginning and I love how their story unfolds the more time they spend together. But the danger from the Pact always remains and when it comes time to rescue Liliane’s sister Nessa, the danger becomes very real. An ambush looks to be the end of the rescue mission but Torr will find a way to come out victorious and rescue Nessa but it will come with a cost. Angus Campbell, who was there with Roderick Munro will escape and Torr imagines it won’t be long until the Pact comes looking for revenge. But for now, Torr and Liliane get their happily ever after and I can‘t wait to read what Fiona comes up with next!

I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

Good start to the series.

Torr MacDonald has been laird since he was 20 years old. He has no desire to be part of the Pact set up by Laird Campbell which only gives Campbell more power. So he bids on a bride at a gathering set up by Campbell to strengthen alliances within the pact. Liliane Munro is now his wife, although not willingly. To protect Liliane. And the safety of his clan and to keep Campbell from gaining more power, Torr will do whatever is necessary to meet those goals. Interesting storyline, well developed characters, and a happily ever after. My only complaints are the length of the book and too much time before the main characters came together as one.

Torr MacDonald never intended to take a wife, he just wanted to try to stop the pact he wanted no part in. Liliane Munro only wanted to save her younger sister. When Torr saw Liliane, he knew he had to save her, thus bidding on her as his bride. Will they be able to find the victory they both seek or will their stubborn ways keep them from finding happiness? A wonderful story of courage and resilience.

Great story

Lady Liliane was put up in an auction to the highest bidder by her father and Laird Campbell was to bid on her to insure the alliance with the pact, only he was outbid by Laird MacDonald. Liliane only agreed to the auction because her father had threatened to use her 14 year old sister if she didn’t. Liliane was furious when she was taken away by Laird MacDonald because she was worried for her sister left alone with her abusive father. But then things change.

Great adventure

Such a beautiful romantic story. The love shown for spouse, family and clan is inspirational. I only wish my relationship with my siblings was as close. The adventure was incredibly exciting. The characters were very brave. Thanks for sharing your story!!! Hope to read about Catherine and her adventure hopefully with the Cameron Laird! Lol

What a great story. She is saved from marrying an obsessive suitor only to be thrown into another situation. This story is full of twists and turns to keep you reading. Will they be able to rescue her sister and learn to trust each other? This is another great story by Ms Faris.

Great book. Love me some Scottish romance. It took a while to get used to the Scottish brogue. But it made it more real to imagine.
