Young Reina Dominguez is the spirited daughter of the cook for the Roberts Estate on the high plains of the New Mexico territory. Determined to thwart her mama’s best efforts to mold Reina into a proper lady, Reina is stubborn and defiant. She believes she has found an ally in the ranch owner’s son, Blue Roberts. Half-breed that he is, Reina delights in the idea that the Indian blood that runs through his veins makes him a kindred, rebellious spirit. However, when he returns to the ranch after a long absence, she begins to doubt her judgment.
John Blue-Feather Roberts is in-fact a half-breed, but this is a circumstance that has been both a blessing and a curse. Torn between his mother’s tribe and his father’s estate Blue believes he has found a steadfast solution in his betrothal to the daughter of a neighboring ranch-owner. His decision to take over the estate for his father with his soon-to-be bride is a practical one, solidifying a future in which he can settle down. However, he does not account for Reina Dominguez. Her willful nature draws him into peril and turmoil when Blue must leave the ranch to cross the Mexican border in order to rescue her.
