Katie Kirby is a writer and illustrator who lives by the sea in Hove with her husband, two sons and dog Sasha.
She has a degree in Advertising and Marketing and after spending several years working in London media agencies, which basically involved hanging out in fancy restaurants and pretending to know what she was talking about, she had some children and decided to start a blog called 'Hurrah for Gin' about the gross injustice of it all.
Many people said her sense of humour was silly and immature so she is now having a bash at writing children's fiction. The Extremely Embarrassing Life of Lottie Brooks is her first novel.
Katie likes gin, rabbits, over-thinking things, the smell of launderettes and Monster Munch. She does not like losing at board games or writing about herself in the third person.
Kocham Lottie bez zmian.
Lottie's family is so funnily and sweetly dysfunctional and her friends are awesome. I love that Lottie Brooks books teach young girls to have fun while being the weird awesome themselves and not to conform to the expectations of others. 😊😊
I actually bought this for my 12 year old daughter but couldn't resist reading it first 😂 Lottie Brooks is back with her teen angst diary entries and amusing stick figure illustrations! Its the end of her first year at secondary school and she is finally going out with Daniel, despite his wotsity fingers! Now she has a whole host of new things to worry about, including her first kiss, braces and a family summer camping holiday in France with, shock horror, no wifi! How will she cope without daily updates on her school WhatsApp groups?!
This is the third book in the Lottie Brooks series and, as always, Katie Kirby's writing is very funny (and spot on!) I will begrudgingly hand this over to my daughter now (and pretend that Amazon only just delivered it!)
This is the modern-day version of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole and from a girls point of view.
Honestly, it is the perfect light-hearted book that has some really good messages for young girls about being your normal weird self. Really enjoyed it.
I loved this book so much ! The French was confusing but got used to it x One thing I was shocked about but respect is Jess liking girls. Obvious this is 100% ok I was not expecting it. Over all excellent read

I completely loved this book from the start; I felt a strong connection to the character because they were incredibly relatable. I believe I enjoyed this book due to its real-life elements, making it seem as if you’re in the story or one of the characters, giving the impression you’re reading about someone else's life. Definitely recommend
Content warnings: bullying, more fart jokes than the adult brain can possibly cope with
This is definitely my least favourite of the three so far, if only because it replaced the laugh-out-loud funny moments with OMG BOYS BOYS BOYS BOYS BOYS and it got extremely repetitive extremely quickly. Then again, I'm a good thirty years older than the average Lottie Brooks reader, so don't take my word for it.
