Divinely Inspired: Spiritual Awakening of a Soul.

Rate this book
From King Solomon's Biblical Writings "God offers His fragrance to all, but His wine is for those who are righteous and wish to be guided by Him" Divinely Spiritual Awakening of a Soul by Jerry J. Pollock, Ph.D. describes, through selected glimpses into Dr. Pollock's life, the spiritual path that he chose to forever be 'drunk' with the joy of loving and trusting in God. It's a path that can give you the strength and courage to deal in life's wondrous mix of pain and pleasure, particularly the pains of childhood and mental illness. It's a path where you don't have to feel alone because when you are in trouble, you can always feel the presence of your Creator. It's a path that removes envy and jealousy of others because you have the best gift of all - the Creator - and you can be content with whatever and wherever you are in your life. It's a path that eliminates the need for anyone else's (except your spouse) approval because you have the highest approval of all, God. It's a path that points you heavenward, that humbles you and permits you to truly like and love yourself because you have recaptured your essence, and for the first time you know your intrinsic worth as a human being. It's not an easy path, as spirituality is a personal and gradual process. As you will read in Divinely Inspired, Dr. Pollock's difficult journey attests to this. Moreover, it is true that you can choose other ways to exercise your spirituality in life. However, if you choose the Creator's path, described in Divinely Inspired, then you open yourself up to the possibility that God will enter and change your life forever, as He did the author. Divinely Spiritual Awakening of a Soul by Jerry J. Pollock, Ph.D., describes one person's journey of spiritual awakening, which facilitated past fetal, childhood, and adult hurts to be overcome and Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depression) to be pushed into remission. The catalyst for writing this book has been the author's recent and unusual audio (hearing God's Voice)and visual spiritual experiences. The author has noted that acquiring spirituality is both a personal and gradual process and did not cure the author's ills. Rather, spirituality has given him the inner strength and tranquility to resolve his past and present issues and place him on the road to inner peace. God would make a great parent because He helps you but you still have to do it yourself. In the Epilogue of Divinely Inspired, Dr. Pollock shares his spiritual insights with the reader. He proposes that God is the master scientist of both Creation and Evolution. The author discusses the Ten Commandments and living your life in the Image of the Creator as one route to spirituality and one path to achieving harmony among humankind. There are other paths to spirituality, but only the Creator's path offers the possibility that God will enter your life and change it forever as it did the life of the author.

Life may have a destiny for us all. My destiny seems to have changed from being a research scientist of forty years to becoming a spiritual writer of the arts. My first book, Divinely Inspired: Spiritual Awakening of a Soul, was a memoir published in 2003 with a second edition published in January 2009 and a companion audio book just out in 2010. My second book, also published in January 2009, was a biblical fiction novel, Messiah Interviews: Belonging to God, which is also available as an audio book.

My stage play, Code Name Daniel, premiered in Manhattan at the American Theatre of Actors from July 7th thru July 11th, 2010. I published my biblical political supernatural thriller novel, Gog & Magog: The Devil's Descendants in June 2011. My wife's Memoir, The Wing of the Butterfly was completed in the spring of 2012 for family and friends.

I was born Jewish in 1941 in Toronto. I didn't know what it meant to be spiritual until God entered and changed my life at the age of 57 with Divine miracles. I am now 70. Despite onset adult Bipolar Disorder, growing up neurotic in an unloving and non-nurturing home environment and an almost successful suicide attempt, I succeeded in academics. I have a Bachelors and Masters degree in Pharmacy, a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Israel, and further training in Microbiology. I am the author of seventy-five scientific publications, and am Professor Emeritus at Stony Brook University on Long Island. For the past twelve years, I have embarked on a path to gain spiritual wisdom and share it with others. My beloved wife Marcia, my bashert or destined one passed away in March of 2011 but has returned to telepathically communicate with me from the spirit world. Across two worlds we have coauthored a new book, Putting God Into Einstein's Equations: Energy of the Soul now out in April of 2012 both as a paperback and Kindle version. While Marcia resides in Heaven, I currently reside in Florida.

I read the paperback version of the first edition (2003).

"A touching narrative that reaches out to the reader and proves that it is never too late to find God. The author believes and rightly so, that the original Ten Commandments are not only to maintain order in a chaotic world, but they are also in their essence, the source for any human efforts at self improvement. A thoroughly engrossing narrative style and almost conversational tone makes this an easy, fast and extremely satisfying read, yet one that leaves the impact of a gentle loving wallop, if there is such a thing."
