I would love to read more from this author minus the sex/steam. Even though it was after marriage it was still not necessary for the development of a good story and added nothing in the way of romance in my opinion. The characters and plot of the book was very well written and moved along as a well developed theme with suspense and danger.

Preface: Brutality as a method of correction?
Brutality gives way to treating people and situation by studying situation and creatin a plan of action. Hero changes the most but both characters consiously choose improving the situation, not taking revenge as a pattern to move forward.

Harriet Caves never fails to deliver a great novel for the reader and the Stolen by the Rakish Duke is no exception. Lady Beatrice Hinton and her friend Phillip, Marquess of Mallingham make a vow to marry each other but when the wedding ceremony day arrives the Marquess fails to attend leaving Beatrice left to deal with being jilted. Philip’s cousin, Leonard Ashwell, Duke of Stagmore offers to marry Beatrice. Why has Philip disappeared, what has happened to his lover, Leo and Beatrice must join forces to unravel the mystery and to ensure the villainous Earl of Westbury. An interesting novel with romance, illegal activities, danger, attempted murder and of course a happy ending. An easy but enjoyable read.

Do I accept this offer?

Ms. Caves has written a winner in this book! Covers it all a jilted bride, a cold distant Duke and a marriage of convenience! And of course there is a villain looking for the runaway groom! A very interesting story and will keep your interest! Loved Beatrice’ strength, and slowly chipped away at Leo’s icy heart. Loved the extended epilogue and their family!

Lady Beatrice is set to marry but now it’s a cousin who seems to be the groom. And the Duke, Leo is really at his word. But convenience hits the road as he falls in love with his wife’s charm & character. And that works until there’s a threat to his cousin, himself or his as well as his wife. His resolve is one that no other man needs. And he never lets up. A wonderful read!! Read slowly!

What an incredible story of resilience. Leo, who had grown up with indifference and cruelty from his parents and Beatrice, into a loving family yet still not having her worth recognised. When they initially met it was all cold and proper between them. Then as they slowly navigated their relationship they were able to find a loving and warm relationship to Last them a lifetime.

Ice to fire

Leo and Beatrice formed an unlikely union--a rake and a wallflower. Married to quell the scandal of being jilted at the alter, both had little expectation of more than a public presence as a married couple. However, the search for Leo's cousin, Beatrice's missing groom, revealed the hidden depths to both husband and wife.

Adventure for truth

Such a good story of a sacrifice a debutant was making to marry a friend who runs away. After marrying a rake of a duke she finds his past has caused issues in his life. Searching for a relative brings danger and joy. A must read
