Dark Prince Road #3

Моят мрачен принц

Rate this book

- lj shen made a reading order for the new readers and the couple mentioned for this book is 'frankie and oliver' 🙂

frankie is mentioned 92 times in this book and she's not the heroine... seriously the authors just changed the heroine last minute 🙂 just like gracelynn langston. but nvm, the reviews are making me excited now, i kinda figured that oliver might not be a hoe.

Oliver's gross 😭

✯ 𝟐.𝟕𝟓 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬

I truly enjoyed the first 50% of the book, BUT the second half ruined it for me. This book had a strong start and I could see myself rating this 4 stars but then the second half happened. It dragged on and on to the extent, I had to force myself to finish it.

The limited content in there did not justify its huge length— 533 pages. This book has 99 chapters for god's sake. Add the epilogue and it's 100. Also, the miscommunication trope truly got on my nerves. Had they communicated like mature adults, 300 pages could've easily been cut short.

I liked the main leads in the start but they got really annoying as I went further into the book. They're in their early thirties so why are they behaving like teenagers? I personally felt there was no maturity or emotional intelligence on their part.

Honestly the side characters were even more immature and intolerable in this book (I haven't read the first two books) but after seeing their cameos over here, I'm glad I didn't. The only character I truly adored was Sebastian (mmc’s brother) I really hope the author writes his book and does justice to his amazing personality.

Also what's up with the group chat? There are literally 20 chapters dedicated to the group chat among the characters and that's INSANE. Like WHY?? This book is already unnecessarily long, we didn't need 20 chapters dedicated for the group texts alone. If it were 3-4 chapters I could've gotten behind but wtf were the co-authors thinking while writing this?

All I can say is that, in my opinion, this book had SO much potential that is now completely wasted.

4.5 stars! 🌟 First of all, THANK YOU to Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for the ALC! 💌 I would’ve had to wait an entire WEEK to read this otherwise, and my patience level? Nonexistent. 😩

So, picture this: I’ve been waiting for this book for a YEAR. I waited so much to read this, and then boom—EXAMS. 😭 I was already mourning my fate when NetGalley said SIKE, and I saw the ALC. Immediate request. Immediate approval. Immediate serotonin. 😍📚

Okay, so looking at my rating… Pre-release me is judging so hard right now. Like, I SWORE I wouldn’t give this more than a 3 because (1) Frankie & Oliver betrayal and (2) Oliver is a h@e. 😒 But then, within the first 10%, I realized… yeah, Frankie and Oliver were never it. They do not belong together. 😤 Oliver needs someone to ground him, and that someone is Briar. 💯

To everyone refusing to read this because "Oliver is a manwhore"—babes, he’s not. We thought his reputation was partially fake, but nope—it was ALL fake. Everything. I won’t spoil, but trust me when I say I was shook. 🙀

And let me just say—the amnesia trope? Usually, I hate it. 😩 But THIS?! THIS is the only time I’ve actually loved it. 😍 It just worked. Also, I low-key think Briar replacing Frankie was a last-minute author decision because EXPLAIN THAT SCENE FROM BOOK 2. 🫠

Now, let’s discuss Briar at the dinner party after she got her memory back. 🤣😭 She out-Olivered Oliver SO HARD. I WAS WHEEZING. 😂 This girl said, “You wanna play games? Let’s play.” And she won.🔥

Also, someone, PLEASE, give my love SEB his happy ending NOW. 😩 The man has suffered enough.

Tropes & Vibes:
✧ Enemies to lovers 💘
✧ Second chance romance 💓
✧ Fake engagement (but make it amnesia) 💍
✧ Childhood friends to lovers to enemies to lovers 😭
✧ He falls first, he falls harder 😮‍💨

This is officially my favorite book in the series. The angst, the banter, the DRAMA?! 👏 And don’t get me started on Young Ollie & Briar—they were EVERYTHING. Then, of course, it all went to hell, and I wanted to throw my phone. 📱💥

Final Thoughts:
1. Oliver? A beautiful mess. A funny, hot, dream man. 😍
2. Briar? She’s exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 💖
3. Frankie? She needs her own book, but she & Oliver were never endgame. 😜
4. Christian Fox & Andi Arndt? Their narration was PERFECTION. 🎧💯
5. SEB BOOK WHEN?! 😩📚

TL;DR—this book owned me. Go read it. Immediately. 🔥

────୨ৎ────────୨ৎ────────୨ৎ────

Let me just say this first: WHO TF IS BRIAR?! This was supposed to be Frankie and Oliver's story! Like, the betrayal here is REAL. 😭 We spent two books thinking these two were endgame—AND THEN THIS?! What is the meaning of doing us dirty like this? I’m screaming.

Remember this scene from Book 2?! 👇
Frankie and Oliver busting in, looking messy and sus, lipstick smudges everywhere, and everyone in the room side-eyeing the hell out of them like “WE KNOW WHAT YOU DID.” And then the authors drop this bomb on us in Book 3?! You’re telling me after all that... they won’t be together? I need answers. Like, yesterday.

Also, can we talk about this amnesia trope nonsense? My literal most hated trope ever. Missed communication? Fine. Accidental pregnancy? I'll live. But amnesia? It’s giving rage. And now the theory is that Frankie lost her memory and became Briar? That makes zero sense because HELLO, Dallas (Frankie’s sister) is RIGHT THERE. So… either I’m delusional, or I’m rating this 1 star out of pure spite.

And Oliver? Babe, why are you acting like Briar has been the love of your life for decades? You spent two books as a certified manwhore, and now this?!

Okay, okay, deep breaths. Maybe Frankie’s story is coming later. Maybe Briar is low-key amazing, and I’ll love her. But for now, I’m manifesting some serious damage control. Delulu is truly the solulu. 😇

Final Thoughts:
1. Still bitter.
2. Still confused.
3. Still gonna read because I’m trash for this series. 😭

Release day cannot come soon enough.

Welp, I ate my words. Isn't that just amazing?! 🥲 Curiosity about the reviews suggesting that Oliver isn't exactly the character he seemed to be in prior books (a nasty walking STD) and that male cover really got the better of me. 🫠🫣

The first 60% was okay-ish, I think??? I mean, the amnesia thing made sense, as did how the MCs interacted with one another.

But when Briar (33) regained her memories and still decided to go back to Ollie's house since Seb had asked her, I just lost all interest. Probably because I hoped she'd show indifference, pettiness, or cling to her anger (I'm petty 🤷‍♀️), but nope, her hormones just took over. 🥴 She's angry, or so she claims, but she still lets him touch her and do things to her body. And Ollie was more than happy to oblige because he finally had the only woman he ever loved. Although she claimed that staying there was for Seb's sake and the rational thing to do given that it's only for three months, readers know deep down that isn't the case at all. Whether she admits it or not, she remains in love with him despite the years and the pain he has caused her.

Tbf, Oliver (34) was dealing with his own stuff as well. They were young and didn’t really know better, and when he got that ultimatum to pick between his brother or Briar, he chose the former without hesitation, though it came with a lot of regret and heartbreak. After that, he started to think that all he did was bring pain to the people around him, and that maybe he didn't deserve any good things in life or love, for that matter. Hence, the start of his "act/pretending" to be the notorious dumbass manwh*re.

Apparently, he's not a hoe (shocker). It turns out he only had sex twice in his life. He said he was only pretending to be an airhead playboy and not to believe anything the gossip magazines and websites say about him. He said that after he and Briar broke up, he had just one ONS, but it sucked, and he gave up after. So, after knowing that info, I think readers are supposed to believe that he had been celibate FOR YEARS.

Oh, and he's also not dumb and jobless. It turns out he has been secretly running his family's business for more than a decade, despite the fact that his father is still in charge. He's also not careless, like the way he carries himself, and one of his weaknesses is that he cares too deeply and too much.

It would seem that he just carefully constructed that image and has been maintaining it for so long so that people won't try to dig deep about him. 🤔

Does this 180-degree turn of events make sense? Nope, not one bit. Do I believe any of it? Nuh-uh.

Somehow it still seems like there are so many contradictions between what he thinks/says (inner monologues), how he was portrayed in the previous books, and what he claims is his reality. 🤧

I think the authors tried their best to redeem Ollie's character by making him as this secretly sensible and responsible man. Showing that there's more to him than his facade and the misunderstandings surrounding him. But, idk, it felt unconvincing and just really doesn't make any sense to ME.

For some reason, I really believe that their initial concept for him was to be this manwh*re from the start, but then they changed their minds and completely flipped his personality and reputation around. 🤷‍♀️🤔

As for Briar, she was just so...meh. Idk, she just didn't intrigue me at all. Aside from being an intimacy coordinator, there’s just not much that stands out about her. I mean, I felt sad for her when she was young; it's not her fault her parents were nasty people. But the way I see it, that was all she had to give, along with her love for Ollie and his brother, Seb. I just didn't like her character; in fact, I had more fun reading about Dallas and her shenanigans, and she's only a side character in this story.

A lot went down in the last quarter, and it feels like everything was crammed in there. Did it improve the story? Imo, marginally. Things started to look up and eventually made more sense. Still, I don't think this book needs to be over 400 pages. Some of the scenes/chapters appear to be fillers that add nothing to the overall experience.

This story was chaotic, and I'm not really sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Some parts were fun, while others didn't quite hit the mark for me, and tbh, I'm still not sure how I feel overall about Ollie and Briar's story. Anyway, it all boils down to personal preference, and to each their own as always.

Book info:
- Second chance (15 yrs)
- Childhood friends/lovers to enemies
- Fake engagement
- Post traumatic amnesia
- Parental abandonment
- Facial disfigurement (side char, by an accident)
- Dual V (in the past)
- Slowburn
- No cheating, OM/OW
- Separation (1 month, LDR)
- HEA (married)
- Bonus epilogue (thru newsletter, 1 yr, planning to have a baby)

Notes:
- Separation (when they were 18/19). He claimed he had one hookup after ghosting (breaking up with) her. It was never said how long they had "broken up" before he did it. Apparently, that was his second (and final) sexual encounter. 🤷‍♀️ Meanwhile, Briar's had her share of boyfriends, and based on what happens in this book, readers can assume that she's probably had more action in the last 15 years than Ollie has.
- I'm really unsure about how to feel about Seb; I'm kind of torn when it comes to his character. Imo, I think he was a jealous and selfish person, and he brought a lot of his own misery on himself. But I'm still intrigued about his story, if he ever gets one.

Initial thoughts 😐

Nope, thank you very much. It's a hard pass on Oliver's book. 🤧

'𝐌Y D𝐀R𝐊 𝐏R𝐈N𝐂E' Is a full length enemies to lovers romance book co-written by L.J. Shen & Parker S. Huntington. Spoken in dual perspectives.

As soon as this landed on my ipad my weekend was sorted!! When I saw 99 chapters and an epilogue I outwardly gasped, the sheer volume gave me hives, but I literally jumped in and inhaled it.

Like everyone else I also thought Frankie would be Oliver’s end game, but comparing Frankie and Briar, I love Frankie to bits but she’s way too messy for Oliver, he needed someone grounded and mild mannered, I think Frankie would’ve outshone Oliver, and trampled all over him. She’s a ticking time bomb that causes destruction wherever she went.

I think Briar brought out the best of him..She saw his vulnerabilities, and all his sharp edges, a boy who felt too much.

And she was a girl who hid in the shadows discarded by parents who should’ve loved the girl who could do no wrong..

And then just like her parents the boy she loved discarded her too in the most debilitating way when Briar needed him the most. These two were childhood friends so it was kind of natural for them to transition into more. They hadn't seen each other since they were nineteen.
...'𝙾𝚗𝚌𝚎 𝚞𝚙𝚘𝚗 𝚊 𝚝𝚒𝚖𝚎, 𝚑𝚎 𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚖𝚒𝚜𝚎𝚍 𝚖𝚎 𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛.

𝚑𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝙸 𝚏𝚎𝚕𝚝 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚖𝚊𝚗.'

Now 15 years later, he has to put his best foot forward and prove he’s the man that she loved as a boy.

He kind of fumbled that one right to hell and back when she loses her memory and he’s got to convince her they’re engaged. He's determined to right his mistakes and not let her go this time..But he just has to convince her of that.. 65451226-2019570151487824-6157464638251335680-n

“It feels like the sky is falling.”
“If the sky falls, I’ll hold it up for you.”

2 month of slumping and Not able to finish a book for weeks. My passion for reading was gone but this book was cable of getting me out of that god awful slump

Honestly i was so hesitant to read this because i heard awful stuff about my dark reomo but bro this was actually so fun I devoured it in 2 days!! You don’t know how happy i was that i finally defeated this slump ugh it so liberating 🤭🤸🏻‍♀️

This was not a live changing book or anything!! But it was fun and i loved it and i loved the characters and the banter it kept me interested even tho everything was predictable. The nickname was cringe and i died inside every-time he said it but I survived worse ✋🏻 it dragged a but at the end but i still enjoyed it nonetheless 🤭🤍

some quotes I giggled and loved in the book 🤭🤸🏻‍♀️

“Ollie, what am I going to do? It feels like the sky is falling.”
“If the sky falls, I’ll hold it up for you.”

“I’ll do anything for you. There’s no mountain too high, no ocean too deep, no planet too far for me to reach you. This is my oath to you. You will always have me. You will never, ever lose me.”

“That I’m yours. Completely. Unconditionally. Tragically. I will take your hate over anyone else’s love. Your anger over anyone else’s compassion. Your tears over anyone else’s smiles. A moment with you over anyone else’s forever. You’re the one.”

“What if I told you every time with you hits just like the first time?”

“You were all I could ever think of. Even now. All these years later. For the longest time, I thought of you as a shadow following me. But you’re not the shadow. I am. You are the living, breathing organism inside of me. I’m just here for the ride.”

“Unloving you was impossible. As unnatural as trying not to breathe.”

“You’ve ruined me, Briar. Completely and utterly destroyed me for every other woman on this planet. It’s you or nothing.”

“I’m done pretending I can live without you. You’re not a chapter in my life. You’re the whole damn story.”

“I chose her over the world.”

Woaw, who is Briar? I thought the heroin was going to be Frankie🥺. Oh well, I just hope we get Frankie's story as part of this series too. Can't wait for release day.

Book 2 hasn't even released yet but I am already excited for book 3.
Also I fully intend to manifest the release of this book in 2024.

“You’re not a chapter in my life. You’re the whole damn story.”

°˖➴ Dramatic. Ridiculous. Unhinged. Hilarious. Mysterious. Swoon-worthy. Tragic. Heartbreaking.

Oh boy, it was a wild rollercoaster ride, i am obsessed. Such a page-turner. Can’t believe my first 5 star of the year is Ollie’s book. OLLIE’S BOOK?? What more baffling is that it has second-chance, friends to lovers and on the top of it, amnesia trope? I am not a fan of any these three lol. Even tho this series is my guilty pleasure, if you have told me this a year ago, i would have rolled my eyes and declared you a liar🙄 I always find something lacking in a book but this? No criticism (this is my post reading bliss talking btw)

Oliver von Bismarck. Duke of Carinthia. Unofficial CEO of The Grand Regent. In short, our own Ollie. This man made me realize how single i am. He made me smile, giggle, blush, giddy, sad, laugh, scream, cry, heartbroken and every single emotion i expect from a book boyfriend. I need a Oliver vB in my life😫 He is not a just green flag or carpet, but a freaking AMAZON FOREST (now i get why Briar hug trees lol)

Whenever he was with Briar, he left me swooning and kicking my feet in the air like a foolish teenager in love. The way me and Star were saying "ME WHEN" on every devoting lover-boy Ollie scene and were LOL-ing on every funny scenes were my highlight of these last three days. ILY for sharing my humor💆‍♀️

“That I’m yours. Completely. Unconditionally. Tragically. I will take your hate over anyone else’s love. Your anger over anyone else’s compassion. Your tears over anyone else’s smiles. A moment with you over anyone else’s forever. You’re the one.”

Before this book, adjectives i had used for Ollie:
Man-whore with weird sexual innuendoes, Gross, Dumb, Crass, Immature, Unserious.

After finishing his book:
Loverboy, Romantic, Caring, Protective, Passionate, Selfless, Swoony, Simp, Charismatic, A perfect husband material.🤌

This is the plot twist i never see coming. How could i have forgotten the fact that “the people who laugh the most are the most broken ones and hide their pains in their smiles” facade.

A special mention of his one liners. His simping skills can rival mine😝

“Do I have a criminal history?”
“Only for being criminally hot.”

“Now I’m going to punch you.”
“Don’t threaten me with a good time. Every time you touch me is a call for celebration.”

“I have a feeling we’re toxic together.”
“Hell and Heaven are the same experiences in different temperatures.”

“You can’t spell impossible without the word possible.”
“You also can’t spell manslaughter without laughter.”

“Just remember you are the most precious woman in my life.”
“Why are you reminding me this?”
“Because I’m about to treat you like a dirty whore.”

AAHHHH CAN YOU HEAR ME SCREAMING

Tbh i was very very skeptical about this book before cuz I didn’t like Ollie in the previous books, so i bullied Star into buddy reading it with me. in case i didn’t like it or chicken out, and damn it was so fun laughing on their banters and swooning over their romance and making theories about what went down. Also I am relieved the fmc is not Frankie cuz i don’t like age-gaps (unless it is a professor-student romance hehe) and comparing to Briar, she would have been way too childish for this kind of storyline.

Briar is perfect match for our broken boy. She was strong and lovable and yes, how can i forget the biggest modern day “Chipko Aandolan” enthusiast🤭 I fell hard for her perseverance and character growth. I loved how she managed to chase her dreams even after everything went wrong both with her parents and Ollie while fighting her vulnerabilities. I admire her so much for being the purest soul despite her shitty upbringings.

“Don’t break my heart, Briar.”
“What happens if I do?”
“To you? Nothing. You get to live your happily-ever-after with someone else. I’d never hurt you. To me, however? “I’ll be finished. You have that power over me. To end my life as I know it.”

Their backstory broke my heart💔 I am not going to recover from them anytime soon. The dramatic ending to them was perfect, I was laughing through my tears. My babies deserve all the happiness in the world. They are made for each other in every sense of the world🥹

The phases of their journey in a nutshell:

“Ollie, It feels like the sky is falling.”
“If the sky falls, I’ll hold it up for you.”

“It feels like the sky is falling.”
“You’re strong enough to hold it up.”

“Things are changing, Ollie. You’re not alone.
This time if the sky falls, I’ll hold it up for you.”

“The sky isn’t falling.”
“We’re holding it up together.”

“You will make an amazing husband one day.”
“If I don’t marry you – and that’s a big fucking if – I’ll make the worst husband in the entire world. Because I’ll spend every second of every minute thinking about you. You’ve ruined me, Briar. Completely and utterly destroyed me for every other woman on this planet. It’s you or nothing.”

Lastly, what made this book more special was this “Dark Prince Road” found family. The dynamics between Ollie, Zach and Romeo, and even Dallas and Farrow, their bickering and interactions, how they are always for each other with their unhingedly-chaotic personalities and antics, and most importantly the group chats, I adore everything about this family. Petition to the authors to publish a whole long ass book of their GCs and i will devour it with a popcorn bowl istfg😌

“You’re not the shadow. I am. You are the living, breathing organism inside of me. I’m just here for the ride.”

This book is not just a love-story, it is more than that. It show us loneliness, self-loathing, guilt, hurt, sacrifices, trauma, forgiveness, redemption, acceptance, healing and finally finding a family while embracing happiness, portrayed in a light-hearted way. The underline motives of this book made a deep remarkable imprint on my soul.

Some relatable quotes:

°˖➴ The only way to destroy a dream was to make it come true.

°˖➴ A man’s shadow is designed to hide a woman’s light. It seeks to contain what it cannot control.

°˖➴ The hardest battles are fought in silence, with no one to see the scars.

°˖➴ That’s the thing about being cheating on. It leaves a scar. A mark that whispers, not enough.

°˖➴ Forgiveness belongs to the wounded, not the one who caused the wound.

°˖➴ Recovery doesn’t shout. It whispers – and it needs time to be heard.

°˖➴ Some mistakes don’t deserve the weight we give them. Their lessons are enough. Let go of the memory but hold onto the lesson. That’s the best you can do.

°˖➴ Maybe that came with the territory of growing up and discovering ourselves. Maybe love changed with age and became less about filling gaps and more about building something whole. Or maybe love simply changed when it stopped being a need and started becoming a choice.

°˖➴ The past is a chapter, not the entire story. Stop letting it decide the next pages.

°˖➴ Family has nothing to do with blood. It’s about the people who enter your life and fill up empty spaces you didn’t know existed until you can’t imagine life without them.

“You wanted a normal childhood, and I’m fucking furious your parents were too selfish to give it to you. But I promise that if you give me a chance, I won’t blow it. I’ll give our children love. They’ll have birthday cakes, and ugly Christmas sweaters, and a stable childhood in one place they recognize and love. There will be fights, and sleepless nights, and days rolling on hills, and family picnics, and movie binges on a loop. And we will do all of it together.”

Tropes:
☞ Sleeping beauty retailing
☞ Childhood Sweethearts
☞ Hurt and Betrayal
☞ Second Chance
☞ Amnesia
☞ Dual-virgins
☞ He’s a Billionaire
☞ Fake Engagement

SPOILER AHEAD!!!!

I want Seb’s HEA so bad, my heart can’t handle his pain and loneliness anymore. PSH AND LJS have mercy on us and give us his book asap😭

p.s. I can bet it would be Beauty and the Beast retailing. How Seb was arrogant and proud over his looks to the way he became all stand-offish and rude obviously points to this. I CAN’T WAIT ANYMORE FOR HIS BOOK.

The hardest battles are fought in silence, with no one to see scars

Okay this was a rollercoaster of me enjoying it and not enjoying it. Like a lot of people I was surprised that this wasn’t Ollie and Frankie book. But once I read this book I understand why it wasn’t Frankie and I’m happy that it wasn’t her since she was a way completely different person in this book. Briar seemed like such a lovely girl when we read from her and Oliver pov from when they were teenagers. Their chemistry back then was so good but in the presence it felt so forced. It’s almost as Briar changed herself completely to make force that chemistry especially since she treated Oliver like shit throughout the book (I completely understand why) she still is completely in love with him at the end?? Like I just don’t understand that, there is no way she loves him. I don’t see her forgiving Oliver even though it says that she did we don’t get to see it. I really did not like her she was so snarky that at points she overdone it. The amnesia trope was actually done pretty well which I surprised at since I normally hate this trope. I feel like the whole situation with Briar family felt so skipped over. I will say that I had a good time reading this book if we ignore Briar completely.

I was counting down the days until this books release since its announcement. I was looking forward to the chaos that was Ollie and Frankie but understand that it was for the best the authors brought along Briar, it added more to Ollie as a character and also due to the questionable age difference and immaturities of Frankie it is for the best that a new lover interest was our heroine.

I love the dynamic of the three friends as well as the way the whole group interacts. Seb was a nice addition too and gave us reason for Ollie’s behaviours and self loathing.

The story itself went through many changes from childhood sweethearts to amnesia plots to enemy roomies and second chances. I love each and every chapter, both our leads were fleshed out and perfect for each other.

I hope Parker and Leigh collab again in the future as their writing together is unparalleled. I am sad to see this series end but will be excited to see what each author comes up with next.

3.5 ✨️✨️✨️✨️

I finally finished this one. And I say I finally because I still have so and so feelings about this book, and I did want to dnf at least two times 😅. But in the end, here I am, read everything, including the extra epilogue you can receive by email.

-- small spoilers, possibly, below --

Ok, so, by the end, I was not Ollie's biggest fan. I understand that he went through a traumatic event, but omg, it was not his fault. It was an incredible sad accident. And his family was so disappointing. They all let him take the burden of what happened, for 15 fucking years! I'm fuming.

While she was somehow strong and made something of herself, considering her situation, where she lacked support, of any type, I think the h could have been even stronger, after she recovered from her amnesia episode. She should have made everyone grovel so much more. Especially the H and his parents. She forgave and forget so easily. How could his parents let their son(s) be so miserable!? They should have sensed how wrong their behavior is and done something earlier.

I'm also not a big fan of Seb, hehe. Mainly because he held the responsibility of their trauma against his brother for so many years, when it was clear it was an accident, especially after he started everything actually. But I could see some potential for a good redemption book. I'm not sure who the heroine would be, though 😂. I'd read his book, if it will ever be considered. Such a tormented, sad, and lost soul. 😞

The little circle of friends was also so cringe a few times. I liked it, though, when the girls just took matters into their own hands, referring here to their little unplanned excursion.

Anyway, I still think that the second book was better. The first one I couldn't finish, and Romeo and his wife confirmed in this book that I made the right decision 😂😂.

What to expect
- second chance romance
- is he really who he said he is!?
- they are each other true love
- secrets, betrayal, trauma
- beauty and the beast vibes, but the beast is not who you think it is; I see it's marketed as a sleeping beauty retelling, but I actually got stronger vibes on the beauty and the beast side 😂 the roses, the secrets, the huge house with a wing that is forbidden 🤷‍♀️
- more secrets, throw in some amnesia, and a little bit of groveling (I expected more, so much more), and a HEA

I am so disappointed that this isn’t Frankie and Oliver’s story.
I don’t really care who briar is. The authors built Frankie and Ollie’s story but decided to go another route with his story. They purposefully misled their readers.

To me, Frankie and Ollie are endgame and this book doesn’t exist

**im not reading this book

There is a book preview/sample on Amazon with the prollgue and some of chapter 1 in Briar's pov. It's like 6 pages.

Update: I was really surprised when I read the book blurb. I really thought Oliver was going to end up with Dallas' little sister Frankie. The synopsis says this is a Sleeping Beauty retelling is supposed to be a second chance romance story with his childhood sweetheart who has amnesia. At first I thought maybe Frankie had amnesia but it said childhood sweetheart so I knew it wasn't Frankie. I wonder what happened to end things in the first place with the childhood sweetheart? It's gross that he went on to sleep with every female that moves and I guess took a bunch of women's v-cards at a party and sent d*ck pictures. Briar is a lucky girl. I am curious how Briar got amnesia and how things ended with Oliver and Briar. He has a dark past too. I figured he had some trauma and maybe became a manwhore bc of that.

I hope the book isn't really 813 pages?

I hope Oliver wasn't sleeping with Frankie if he is ending up with Briar bc that would mean Briar would have to be around a girl he was hooking up with since Frnakie is his bffs sister-in-law.

I'll need safety info before delving into this one. He was sending d*ck pictures to women in book 1. He had different women's lingerie all over his house and I think empty condom wrappers scattered on his floor. I really hope he gets his house deep cleaned if Briar is staying there and that she doesn't find women's lingerie and condom wrappers and who knows what else at his home.. I would need a hazmat suit to walk into his house.

Some Tropes:
Enemies to lovers
childhood sweethearts
second chance romance I guess
Sleeping Beauty retelling
Heroine has amnesia

Old post:
I'm assuming this one is Oliver's book. He was into the sister of the h in book 1. Oliver was funny at times. I hope he stops banging ow if he starts to pursue Dallas' younger sister.

Dnf chapter 49. I don’t normally rate a book I don’t finish, my disappointment is just so palpable and have to.

I love these two authors, they are auto buy for me, Darling Venom and Pretty Reckless are some of my all time favorite books. I have read almost everything they have written, combined and separately because I love and understand their characters, they make me feel and experience through them.

This book is for me a train wreck, probably more 1⭐️, but an extra ⭐️ for the two previous books.

First of all Oliver is know to us from the earlier books, as a very different person, than in this one. Apparently everything we were told was wiped away, in one sentence “he had been pretending before “ and was really a completely different person. That is too easy! Show me he is different, don’t tell me in one sentence. It was so cringy. I can forgive a lot of stuff, and I like soapy, as long as I am entertained, this was bad and boring.

The first 49 chapters are packed with information that just wasn’t credible or real too me. I absolutely did not like the characters, they were childish and had very limited intelligence or maturity. They were in their mid thirties! There is no romance or chemistry between them and very limited real interaction even. As a reader you are only provided access to their self pitying thoughts.

The book is 99 chapters!! And it is extremely tedious! If you need help going to sleep, go right ahead.

That’s it from me, still a little pissed, that this is the book they gave us.

4.5 Stars!

Ridiculous... I loved it! A new favourite.

This is a dark NA-romantasy re-telling of Sleeping Beauty. That was all it took for me to add it to my TBR list.

Side note: I'm already familiar with L.J. Shen's books, but not Parker Huntington's. So this is going to be interesting.

Rating: 4, Good✨🌸🎀

“The sky isn’t falling,” my wife promises me.
“We’re holding it up together.”

This is such a perfect ending to a book 😍🤌🏾✨ Oliver and Briar are my now my new favourites in this series 🤭 second to Dallas and Romeo✨🌸

The people who were saying that Oliver deserved to be with Frankie obviously don't see that they don't have any CHEMISTRY together 🤷🏾‍♀️😶.

Seeing the other couples in this book was so enjoyable especially the group chats 🤣🤣 those were hilarious 😆. The pet name Cuddlebug was also cute and didn't make me cringe.👏🏾🙂

Even though I was pissed off at Sebastian for guilt tripping Oliver so that he couldn't be happy with Briar.....I do hope he gets his own book 🙂. I feel like his book will be a twisted retelling of PHANTOM PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. 🤭

I LOVED the narrators for this one! Dual narration should be a requirement when books have fmc/mmc povs. I loved it! This story was so intriguing. I loved the enemies to lovers trope. I was so curious to see how the amnesia would play off. I know it was a whole hot mess at times, but I enjoyed the twists and turns. The spice was also spicing 😍 The fmc was so smart and funny, I loved her sarcasm and plotting. The mmc was every bit of brooding and mystery. I loved Sebastian as well! Overall a wonderful read! Now I need to go buy the pretty special editions of this book lol

I received the audiobook from Dreamscape Media to listen/review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully listening to this audiobook.

"...I am so hopelessly obsessed with you, Briar. I didn't fall for you. I crash landed without a parachute."

This book stole my breath away. I laughed HARD, smiled, kicked my feet, and literally was jumping up and down. My heart beat at a million miles per hour and I am forever changed for this book.

I have LOVED Ollie's character since My Dark Romeo and his book just forever cemented that fact. It was everything and more getting to know who Ollie is behind the persona and the smoke screens... let just say this, I was FERAL.

Briar was the PERFECT FMC for Ollie. Girl was fire and brimstone and everything nice. She's a hurricane and lord knows Ollie's just along for the ride.

This book. God, the fact that I'll never be able to read it again for the first time again is criminal. I fell hopelessly in love with this book and these characters stories.

Thank you to the authors for allowing me an ARC of My Dark Prince in exchange for my honest review!

There aren't enough words to describe the impact this book left on me. I am irrevocably changed. My heart. My laughs. My smiles. Absolutely swooning. And I just finished it and I swear I have never written a review immediately upon complete. This book really did a number on me! 😍💘🫶🏻

And in that kiss, she sealed my fate. I could never love another. Briar Rose was it for me.

Seride sıralamam 2-3-1 şeklinde. İlk kitabı da hani mecburen ekledim.Yoksa benim için aşırı sevimsiz karakterlerdi Romeo ve Dallas.Kaç kitap geçti ama Dallas'a hala ısınamadım.

I have been anticipating the release of Ollie’s book and I was not disappointed. I savoured every moment yet devoured it in one sitting. I was gluttonous with these authors words and don’t feel any guilt whatsoever. I loved seeing all the characters from the first two book as they brought a levity to the dynamic of the main characters. The writing duo brought a certain je ne sais quoi that made this story standout. Their sleeping beauty inspired rendition is a first for me and I absolutely adored it. What a fabulous story to add to an already amazing series.
