SHOCKING CASES OF PARENTS WHO KILLED THEIR CHILDREN KILLER TRUE CRIME One of the hardest things someone can live through is the loss of a child; after all, children are not supposed to die before their parents do. It goes against the natural order of things. Therefore, it is unimaginable that someone would want to take the life of their own child or children. Unfortunately, this type of heinous act is something that has occurred multiple times over in the history of the United States and the United Kingdom and elsewhere in the world. Of all the hideous violent crimes that are committed, the murder of one’s own children, one’s own flesh and blood, are the most baffling. The majority of parents, thank goodness, would do anything to protect their children and would even die to save their children. So for a parent to look at his or her child, perhaps hear their pleas and cries, and watch their uncomprehending faces, and murder them, is almost too heinous to think about. In this book, bestselling author, Sylvia Perrini, examines numerous profiles of mother’s and father’s who have murdered their children.
There's nothing wrong with reading about parents who murder their children on Father's day, right? Anyway, this book is a quick read true crime anthology dealing with mothers and fathers who have killed their children. A rough summation appears to be that men murder their children either due to financial stress and ruin, or as revenge against the child's mother. Women seem to kill because of psychological problems or because their children are (in their minds), hindering a romantic relationship from flourishing. The author covers cases mostly from the States and the U.K. Some of them are well known and a few are more obscure. I was particularly impressed with her rendition of the List murders as that is a complicated case and is the subject of a really good full length book. There are some color thumbnails throughout which is always appreciated.
If you previously read any other filicide crimes from Sylvia Perrini, then you’d already have read the crime compilation stories in this book. Nonetheless, it’s informative and interesting to read.
I found this book extremely interesting as it attempted to explain why parents murder their children. The book is in 2 sections, the first being fathers and the second being the mothers. Sylvia Perrini has taken each individual story and has tried to give an insight into the minds of those who carried out these heinous crimes. If you enjoy Reading about this topic then I would highly recommend this.
