K. C. Mitchell’s book, The Last Lie, does not disappoint. Once you start reading, you will be so intrigued that you will not want to put this book down. I was hooked at the beginning with the Prologue. This romantic thriller explores obsession, loyalty, trust, and love mixed with a spicy relationship. I enjoyed the way Mitchell alternates the story and point of view between characters, and also the way she ends the chapters with a twist that makes you want more!
The story begins with a brief encounter one night between Taryn and Iron which leaves them with feelings of unrequited love and obsessive thinking about each other. They will meet again and learn that trust can be developed by discovering the truths each one holds. It is a reminder that life can offer us second chances, and that sometimes the most unexpected places lead us exactly where we need to be.
Taryn and Iron are special agents and their careers unexpectedly become intertwined, and they must make critical decisions. The choices lead them to places of survival while encountering dangerous enemies who seek to eliminate them. The fight scenes are so intense and exciting – I felt my heart racing at times! The story remains suspenseful and thrilling throughout, coupled with romance and emotional connections. The tension between Taryn and Iron is brilliant!!
I have read quite a few of this author's novels in the past, and I found this one to be one of the best thrillers I have read lately. The continuous twists and turns and the unusual characters make this a page-turning read. I always feel blessed by the way Mitchell brings faith into her writing. I look forward to her future books.
