There are infinite ways to die, and the fates are calling for blood. After evading Azael since her betrayal, it’s finally time for Pen to stop running and face her desperate brother. But she won’t have to challenge him alone: the rebel army of New Genesis is ready to stand strong and fight to secure the future they believe in.
As Azael spirals deeper and deeper into darkness, and Pen grapples with her new leadership role, a familiar name rises to power whose decisions have the potential to rewrite everyone’s future. Dangerous secrets, silent traitors, and unraveling fates means that time is running out. There’s no telling who will survive the final battle.
In this thrilling conclusion to the Ignite series, Pen and Azael return to finish what they started over a millennia ago.

Oh my god. Oh my god. Guys. Guys. It’s over. The Ignite series is over, and I am so emotional right now, because I started blogging when this series began, and it shot straight to my forever-favourite shelf, and now it’s come to a close two years later.
And it was amazing. Infinite was everything I could have wanted in a conclusion, and Erica has once again proven why she is my favourite author.
In Infinite, we have the perspectives of Pen (as always), Azael (oh my LORD), and a new addition of Lillith. I thought that Lillith’s chapters added an interesting addition to the story, and I appreciate that we weren’t left in the dark about everything that was going on beyond Pen and Azael. Although, I must say that whenever her chapters came up, I just wanted to get back to Az. But that’s probably because Az is my one true kryptonite.
A lot happens in Infinite. I kept on wondering how everything was going to come together and fall into place, but the pacing was perfect, and everything did all come together and fall into place just right. As if I should have expected anything different from Erica (pfsh at my stupidity).
Pen has truly cemented herself on the side of the “grey area”, not purely “good” like the angels nor purely “evil” like the demons, and this is evident in everything she does in Infinite. She fights for the cause of New Genesis, and just wants everything to be different. For the fighting to end, and for the suffering to end, and for everyone to get a new beginning. Her thoughts are a little darker, in that they’re not constantly filled with hope about the outcome of the inevitable showdown between her and Az (and the New Genesis and the Hell demons), but I found that to be very realistic. Life can be shit, and not everything turns out the way you want it to, no matter how hard you try or wish or keep positive.
Her relationship with Michael was as strong as ever, and those two are definitely soulmates if there ever has been. The intensity with which they love each other, and they fact that they do things together, not behind the other’s back, or to try to shield the other, is amazing. I love it.
“Together, or not at all.”
Az. Oh, my darling. My precious. My bb. My one and only. I don’t think I have ever – ever – loved a character as much as I love Azael. And I don’t say that lightly. I read a shit tonne of books (as you all know), so I do come across a lot of characters I love. But Az. Az is so very different. He has managed to completely nestle into my heart (probably the dark and cobwebby corners, knowing him), and I know that he will stay there forever. He’s just so incredibly complex, and beautifully broken, and savage, and I couldn’t tear my mind from him – even when I was reading the other perspectives in Infinite. He’s just the perfect addition to my life of fiction. (I FUCKING LOVE YOU, AZAEL.)
The ending had me very emotional, tears and all, both because of what happened, and the fact that this amazing series has closed its doors. If I haven’t convinced you to read the Ignite series by my previous reviews, or my constant flailing and fangirling, please do. You won’t regret it, I promise.

*My Thoughts*
Infinite is the final installment of the Ignite trilogy by Erica Crouch. I had a bit of difficulty in putting together my thoughts for this book, but it finally all came together late Sunday evening. No, I didn't hate the book. In fact, the ending was really good, and emotional, and leaves you with plenty of feelings long after you've read the last sentence. I liked how different aspects of this series were finally revealed, but left a sense that not everything is right in the world, and there's always room for more story.

The last installment in this series was pretty action packed. It was done in alternating viewpoints (Lilith, Az, and Pen) and I'm not sure whose was more intriguing. I mean, most of Lilith's was brutal, but some of the quotes took my breath away.
"One way or another, all will kneel before me. I want to hear their kneecaps break as they fall at my feet in genuflection..."
And then there was Az.
"Hell is here, and we leave no survivors."
And we can't forget Pen! She and Michael were as great as ever, but in this book they were so much stronger. Pen stepped up and took control of New Genesis and herself. She didn't rely on everyone else to help her make decisions. She owned up to what she did, and did what she had to do. Some of it was brutal. I wasn't happy with her and Michael's ending either. It may have been happy, and what the characters wanted...but I wanted more!
I love this series so much. I'm so excited to follow this author and read whatever else she writes. She has become such an amazing writer, even just after a few book. I know she will only get better! These are by far the best angel book I've ever read. If you haven't started this series yet...do it now! Now that I don't have any more of this series to look forward to I just don't know what to do.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I have really enjoyed reading this great series by Erica Crouch. I was so excited to be able to read the conclusion to the series. I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen to Pen, Azael, Michael and all the rest. This book gave me everything I was looking for in a conclusion to this awesome series! There was action, romance, drama, etc. I was surprised to find myself liking Azael more and hoping that he would be able to change his ways. I was also completely fascinated by Lilith's story advancement. My favorite though is Pen and Michael's story. I love the whole opposites attract thing so a demon and an angel falling in love is perfect. Michael sees the best in Pen even though she isn't sure that she is good enough. But in the end, they find out just how good her soul really is. I could not have imagined a more perfect ending to this series. This was probably my favorite book of the series.
Ignite is one of my favorites series, so ti see it end is bittersweet. The ending was emotional, and I hoped that it would have been a little different.
If you haven't picked up this series, and you are looking for a great angels and demons story, this is your book!
Erica Crouch's writing is wonderful and I really enjoyed her style. Can't wait to see what she brings us next.

Why do you do this to me Erica?!?!
Now, the full review (warning: extensive abuse of animated gifs!)
Erica Crouch is a delightfully evil person. No, seriously, she is. She wrote one of the BEST endings to a series I’ve ever had the opportunity to read. She had me in tears (once again!) but I admit that those were happy tears. Actually, I had so many feelings reading this book I sent the whole time with my heart in my hands. I cried, I laughed, I panicked, I hated, I loved and a lot more. I was inside a glass case of emotions and I was too masochist to want to get out. I was loving it!
Infinite is the last book in the Ignite series. Damn, I can’t believe this is the end. Since I read Ignite, two years ago now, I’ve been following Erica‘s work and loving every bit of it. It’s hard to say goodbye to these characters that I became so attached to, so fond of. But being able to accompany their journey till the very end is the most awarding experience ever. Especially if that same end is simply EPIC.
In this book we continue following Pen and Michael’s struggle within the war between angels and demons and Azael’s tormented mind. In addiction to the sibling’s voice, we also get a scope of what’s inside Lilith’s mind. Not wanting to dwell to much in the plot itself – not wanting to give any spoiler – let me just warn you that the moment you set foot inside this book, you are immediately swept away into a spiral of conflicts, turmoils and battles.
Pen and Michael complete each other in so many levels it’s impossible to have one without the other. They grew up to become this huge pair of survivors and fighters, always standing up for what they believe but never leaving anyone behind. If Ignite had these strong romantic pair that I was rapidly shipping, this book made me love them all over again. And their love is so sweet, deep and real it’s impossible not to ship them almost straight away.
AZAEL!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!!
Why do you go breaking my heart like this? The conflict inside his end, the hurt, the confrontation with Pen, everything broke my heart into tiny little pieces. This story isn’t about the love between Michael and Pen or the fight between Heaven and Hell… it’s about these siblings who despite being so different from each other, manage to be one being intertwine. And the final confrontation between them was one of the hardest things I’ve ever read in my life.
Lilith was a shock. What she does in the Prologue was totally unexpected and the way she sort of manipulates her way into the throne showed us she wasn’t a character to be taken lightly. However, I was so focused on the siblings I only wanted to skip her parts. But, I admit, that her voice was hypnotic ever for us readers, we ended up reading her chapters thirstily.
Kala and Ana! No… I’m not talking about that! I refuse to! Erica, and all of you who read Infinite will know why I don’t want to talk about them. It was too cruel… especially after reading Engage! You can’t do that to us Erica… it hurts too much!
Now, let’s talk about the ending! The ending was beautiful and totally unexpected. When I realised what was happening, I couldn’t help but gasp at how perfect it was. The line between good and evil will never disappear but people can change. And Pen was the character that changed the most, the one that sacrificed everything she had to those she loved the most so I found the ending quite comforting and rewarding. When I started Infinite, I had no idea what kind of end I was about to meet so, when I finally reached that moment, I was relieved to know that I did liked it, that I understood Erica‘s reason to write it the way she did. You truly are amazing!
Erica‘s writing was impeccable once again. The way she manages to swift from one character to the other was skilfully made and her talent continues to blow me away. The final battle was so well detailed, so well developed I was hooked in her words, trap inside the story mind and body and soul. Beautiful and action-paced and breathtaking.
I had the highest of expectations and Erica managed to surpass them delivering the perfect conclusion to a series I loved. It was emotional to the point of leaving you sobbing and wanting more and more. I still hope for more – a short-story from Michael’s perspective for instance?. But overall this was PERFECTION!
Just one small thing: thank you for this amazing series! That’s all <3

You guys. THIS BOOK. I mean, I loved the rest of this series. Everything about the story and Erica's gorgeous way with words made Pen, Azael, Michael, and the other characters come alive and jump out of the pages. I always felt like I was right in the middle of their world and the battle, and I often feared for their lives as if I had known these characters all my life. I am SO sad this series is over, although I'm content with where things are now.
I went into this book pretty much knowing that Erica was going to basically just break my heart in every single way possible. I mean, it wouldn't be right if I read one of her books and didn't cry big, ugly tears at least once (see Madly, Deeply). There's Gus' prophecy hanging around, that Pen and Azael will destroy each other. And then there's crazy Lilith, who keeps throwing a wrench in the bucket and making things so, so strange and weird and wonderful. I really enjoyed reading sections from Lilith's point of view, especially knowing things she knows that Pen and Azael don't yet. I love having more information than the characters and watching things unfold.
Don't get me wrong - I love seeing things from the conflicting viewpoints of Pen and Azael. I mean, Pen just wants everyone to have the option to make their own choices and Azael just wants to be the king of Hell and rescue his sister from the crazy angels. But there's so much more beneath all of that, and it was such a thrill to be along for the ride on both sides. And Lilith... she's all over the place and doesn't give two craps about what anyone else does as long as it benefits her. I thought Pen was a great female lead - smart and strong-willed and always looking for the good in people, yet still with her vices and weaknesses and just so very real. But Lilith is power-hungry and willing to do whatever it takes to claw her way to the top. I mean, you go girl! But maybe slow down a little bit, you crazy woman.
Although I have wanted a happy ending for Pen and Michael, and even Az, from the very beginning, I kind of always figured in the back of my mind that things were not going to work out for everyone and someone was going to get screwed in this whole war and my heart would be in a bazillion pieces all over the floor. I don't want to give anything away, but I ended up in an okay place by the end of the epilogue. It wasn't what I was hoping for, and it wasn't what I was expecting at all, but Erica made it work. And I was able to put myself back together a little bit, so that was a bonus.
All of the supporting cast is fantastic too, and I never felt like anyone was superfluous or just there to be killed off or anything. Erica somehow manages to give every single character a well-rounded story and makes them important to Pen, Az, and Michael. Kala and Ana and Eligor, and all of the other angels and demons in New Genesis, and even Az's group of demons all had their purposes and their places, and were all very true to themselves throughout the entire book (actually, the whole series).
So, TL;DR, you need this book in your life. Now. If you haven't read Ignite or Incite yet, or either of the novellas, go get them ASAP so that you can read Infinite. I'd say that anyone who loves paranormal books with a romance that's important but not overwhelming should definitely read these books, but really anyone who enjoys a great story with amazing characters and absolutely wonderful world building should pick up this series RIGHT NOW. Erica is incredible, and I can't wait to find out what she's got up her sleeves next! 5/5, but I'd give it higher if I could!
This was a just incredible ending to this series. I don't want to see it end. Michael and Pen oh my. They truly complement each other and bring out the best in each other but the scene I love the most is the last between Pen and her brother. Tear jerker true tear jerker. That turning point for Azael wow and so so sad. He always needed Pen not just to be his moral compass but to breathe. Without her he flailed. He became a shell of a person out for revenge and used his anger of loneliness to hurt others. He was used by Hell in so many ways that you can't help but feel bad for him. Yes I actually did say feel bad for him but that ending was just so tearjerking between him and Pen.
the way Michael was used by Azael not cool but the final outcome from it for Pen was amazing. It shows us that our sins can be forgiven and we are given chances to be what we wish to be. That there is good in all of us and it outshines the bad.
This is the final battle and was written eloquently. We see good vs. evil play out like in Star Wars where lessons are learned, epiphanies found, chances given, forgiveness is found and love is seen throughout. Love from Pen to Michael, Pen to Azael, Kala to Anna and the surprising one for me Eli to all his friends at new Genesis and the dog.
There are surprises and twists that take the book in a different path and you do wonder with Lilith what the future now brings. She is one evil queen. So the evil queen in sleepig beauty must have been her mentor because she is really badasp bad and downright maniacial. She's diabolical in her planing and plotting what I don't undestand is the rib? Why isn't anyone using it against her?
The final battle is bloody and bittersweet as we see the scene play out. Characters you have come to love meet in death and forgiveness as new genesis fights hell for change.
All the characters will give you feelings towards them. Gus is a enigma and sometimes you just wonder about him. Jeremy is freaky, Asher is sweet but that ending I wonder about how that will play out with Asher, Michael is amazing you see why he is who he is-he's kind, supportive, sweet, courageous really just awesome, Kala a breath of fresh air, Ana starts to become chill and Eli is awesome. Azael has you in knots for you see what his sister sees in him and want that to be what comes forth but all the pain of loss and betrayal from everyone just takes him down, Lilith really no words can measure up to her diabolical ways she really is Maleficents prodigy.
The book is action packed and keeps you in the moment as you watch the final battle for good vs. evil occur. Each blow and each moment in which we see that heaven changes and sees that the world changed as well helps good in overcoming what will be the battle of their life. But we are left wonde
I've been thinking all day/night about what I want to say in this review because i'm just so sad that this series is over...but then that ending was the most perfect ending ever and omg. Okay, so I've said this in every single review I have ever done for this series but it's very important, Erica Crouch's writing is just so beautifully poetic and flowing that I have only ever enjoyed two author's writing a little bit more, that of George R.R. Martin and Charlotte Bronte. It just immerses you straight away into the story and you can't help but get dragged along by such powerful language, all you can do is keep reading as these words empower, devastate, disgust and fill you so full of emotion that, in the case of the character of Lilith, you actually feel as though you are sharing all of her blood-thirsty emotions and thoughts. Had to drag myself out of that dark hole. The writing isn't the only spectacular thing about this book though, the one-of-a-kind characters and each of their struggles and actions make you really hope that they will get their happily ever after, even the bad ones. I just wanted to wrap Azael up in blankets (even though he would probably kill me for doing it) and keep him from making all of those terrible decisions. I loved Michael and Pen just as much, their love for each other warming the pages of a thick shadowy story. But my favourite character has to be Lilith. I just feel as though she has an added depth of character that the others did not, her imagery so powerful and devastating that she seemed almost real (which would be terrifying). I really hope this series continues somehow, because I want more Lilith and I need more of this writing. It's safe to say that from now on, whatever Crouch writes, I'll be reading!
If you've read the previous books in the series, you'll know that . 'Infinite' picks up basically where 'Incite' finished - but instead of just getting Pen and Azael's perspectives in this third novel, we also get to see inside the mind of Lilith, which lends itself to some of the most dark and twisted writing that I've ever read. The three perspectives mean that we get to see all of the events going on from the different angles, which is both a good and bad thing. In the big fighting scenes it's an absolute blessing - there's so much going on that it would get confusing at times without the other perspectives, or we would always feel as though we were missing something. However, it does make the pace of the novel slow down a lot through the other scenes - there are bits when nothing really seems to be happening, so there's just a lot of talking or internal ruminating on past situations, which was hard to get through but definitely expected with all of the loose ends needing to be tied up in this final installment.
I received an eARC of Infinite from Patchwork Press via Net Galley in exchange with my honest review.
My love for this book is INFINITE !
I can't stop myself from being mind blow by this book. I mean, 3 POV ( Lilith, Azael, and Pen) of the most interesting characters are shared in Infinite, and I can't even decided whom's I like the best !
From dark minds, thirst for power, to seeking out hope to be just alive and cherish happy moments, the final book in the series will turn your world upside down.
I learned more about many of the characters' pasts, which is one of the things that interested me the most ! specially Lilith's past. I am thrilled that Erica add her voice to the story. Lilith is a Pleochroism, her thoughts and strength can be compared to the black diamond.
The conversation between Azael and Pen reminded of the song Hurricane by 30STM ! Jared Leto world be the perfect actor to play Azael !
The description is phenomenal. When I read the details, I was able to form vivid images in my mind that made love, pity, and loath the characters at the same time ! I also found myself disliking a character that I liked ; well done Erica .
Sometimes, I felt like some descriptions were a bit repetitive, so I had to skim a little bit.
Honestly, I still have about 20% of the book still unread, thanks to my reading slump! This means that I will be updating my review, once I get to the Epic ending of this amazing series.
You've successfully created a perfect ending. I loved it. I freaking loved it. It was so damn good and I never wanted it to end. Can't wait to read more from this author and I'm so glad I decided to take a chance on this series. I was not disappointed at all.
Whoo wee! I'm always nervous when I read the last book of a series. It's the bittersweet end to a story and I'm rarely ever ready for a good story to end. Are you ready? Cause I'm ready.
To put it simply, Crouch delivers! I had already enjoyed her previous books and had high hopes for the conclusion to this story. I'm glad to say that I enjoyed the end of this series.
Pen and Michael are back and dealing with the Heaven vs Hell war as well as figuring out what to do to get back Michael's soul. I like the push and pull Azael and Pen have during this book and let's just say Azael surprisingly broke my heart in this one. Love the moment of confrontation the twins have and I'll admit, I cried a little. It's now one of my favorites scenes in the story! There were several other scenes I really liked in this book but that one touched me the most. Probably helps that I have 3 siblings and am a twin so I can totally relate.
The addition of Lilith's voice was a fun one and I'm glad Crouch added her voice. I really liked the twisted way she thought and how she went from in the shadows to extremely important. She's smart and deceptively manipulative. I respect that she calculates and thinks about her actions before putting them into motion. Although, I'm not too sold on her rise to power because it seemed too easy but I went with it and grew to enjoy her character.
Loved the final battle scene. Full of blood and death. We do lose some of our friends but I won't tell you who. It hurts but that's the result of war. I would have liked to see more aerial fights. We didn't get any especially considering that they all have wings. Most of the important battles occurred on the ground. It felt like they forgot they had wings. That bothered me a little but is fairly insignificant.
The writing is good, like before, Crouch is descriptive in her writing which I didn't have any problems with previous books but this time I found myself skimming just a bit to get to the action. When I started, I had no problem diving right back into the story as if I never left. The pace at the beginning of this book put me off just a bit. The reason is that we get an overlapping of point of views from a moment in time and to me it felt like repeating a scene. We'd move forward in the story and then take a step back and repeat for a moment from another character's point of view and I didn't love that. I just wanted to keep moving forward. Doing this is fine a few times but we did it multiple times and threw my pacing off.
I can't say I loved the end because it didn't quite blow my mind as I had hoped but after some thought I came to a mutual acceptance and agreement. It's satisfying and completes the story. At first I didn't like when Pen changed but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense to me and why Crouch chose to end it that way. When the realization hit me, I definitely liked the end more and why she wrote it this way. There is never an end between the battle of good and evil. It's definitely a bittersweet end to the series and I'm so glad the author included the Epilogue because if it ended at that last chapter I would have died.
Overall, I'd recommend this book if you love battles between Angels and Demons and the precarious battle between the balance of good and evil. Crouch delivers a fantastic ride of a story and I am sad to depart from this world and these characters. However, I'm excited to see what Crouch comes up with next!
3.5 out of 5 rating for me!
(A copy was provided for an honest review. I was not compensated in any other way.)
Pen and Michael have joined New Genesis in an effort to bring balance to earth and beyond. Although Pen is initially hesitant to join, she quickly finds her voice in leadership. She and Michael have become stronger in every way with their dedication to each other fueling them with hope for a new future. Azael, however, is slipping into a deeper darkness tormented by the rejection of Pen. Heaven, Hell, Angels, Demons, Humans… the battle is over and the war has begun.
I was given an ARC of Infinite from the publisher for my honest review. So here it is!
Wow! What an amazing comeback! When I received this ARC and learned that it was the third in the series, I realised that I would need to read the first two to give the best review possible. I was very disappointed with the first book, but held out hope for the continuation of the series as I really enjoyed the premise. Crouch finds her balance in Infinite. Allowing the reader into the mind of the characters and their worlds while keeping the story moving. She bring the weaknesses of Pen and Michael into maturity as their love and circumstances shape their characters.
Although I found the ending a little predictable, I fully enjoyed watching it all play out. I also love how Crouch allows the reader into the mind of Lilith in this book! What a wonderfully evil character. Exactly what I would imagine her to be. Beautifully done.
Pen and Azael can no longer avoid their final confrontation – which they cannot both walk away from. Driven to reclaim Michael’s soul, Pen cannot avoid Azael and Azael is driven to bring his sister back to his side – or destroy her and everything else in the process
But while they are focused on their epic show down, Lilith changes the whole nature of the game: there’s a new ruler of Hell and sibling rivalry is not part of master plan.
I loved one excellent element of this book – Lilith. Oh yes, I loved Lilith. I loved how her mythology was so centrally part of her story. I loved that she was the character who would not submit, who plotted so very excellently and whose defiance should, as she pointed out, have definitely being predicted. She is Lilith, the woman who would not submit, who would not be secondary to any man. The death of her children was just the last straw – just the idea that she was a gentle, submissive servant means anyone who falls for it thoroughly deserves the stabbing they get.
Her backstory, her depiction, her craftiness and, even to a degree, how she seems to slowly degrade down the same path when she gains power herself. It’s really well done, contains a lot of challenges against misogyny and is fascinating to read.
The introduction of Lilith as an independent force added a new layer to this series that, while sorely underdeveloped (more on that later), really widened the story. This is in addition to the ongoing examination of why Heaven failed and how it lost its way – expanding on what was already established in Engage.
On top of that we have some really nicely written action scenes and lots of hacking and slashing. We had Kala and Ana – a previously excellently established same-sex couple, one of which is a Black, disabled angel – with a lot of excellent depiction of her furiously objecting and fighting back against any idea that she is weaker or less capable because of her disability. We also had some nice debate about Ana’s pacifism – and how it can really only work for her and her campaign because she is surrounded by people who are willing to fight on her behalf.
It did have some really good elements that I enjoyed
Despite all this I find myself curiously dissatisfied with this book and after much internal deliberation, I think the problem is with the actual structure of the book.
A huge amount of this book is spent telling the story from multiple points of view. And part of this works because we see the events how they’re actually happening as well as from the point of view of each character. We get to see how things surprise them, how they operate in completely different realities and it quite works artistically and stylistically…
I am not satisfied with the way the series ended. I wish Lilith and Azael had changed places. I don't get why things had to happen the way they did. Azael could have gotten redemption and live somewhere with Pen. Things could have worked out eventually. Lilith could have gotten the ending she deserves.
I haven't read the second book (I know, I know, shame on me, but I didn't have time), but Lilith for me isn't someone who deserves to get what they want.
The fates of Azael and Lilith were the only things I didn't like in the book. The story is told from the point of views of Pen, Azael and Lilith, who has Gus and seems to always be one step ahead of everyone and everything. Azael is full of hate at this point and is blindly dedicated to Lucifer while Pen tries to fix everything and end the war. The epilogue was great, but I wish I had seen Azael.
