She moves with a purpose, with direction and passion, like it is her own version of art.
Rory Davis is on his last real chance to make it as a professional fighter when he decides to come back to where his passion for the sport was born, West Haven. Where he thought he would be walking back into the gym of his old coach, he finds AJ. The girl that makes him feel everything he has lost with the sport. The girl that he quickly decides he wants to have a permanent spot not just in his career, but in his life.
He wasn’t erratic or random in his decisions. He knew exactly the outcome of every move he made.
Avery Jude “AJ” Davenport has fought her whole life for the home she has found at West Haven. Suddenly her life gets thrown out of its perfectly curated schedule when she finds herself as the new head striking trainer at the gym. No one has been able to shake her ability to keep everyone at a distance, until Rory walks in and introduces himself as the new fighter she is training. AJ isn’t prepared for every way that Rory will teach her soul to heal from her past.
From the moment I read the first page, Fragmented Desires by M.K. Jensen had me fully hooked. I genuinely loved every single second of this book! Huge thank you to the author and Luna Literary Management for the ARC! 💚
There was mental health rep, a beautiful slow burn, and two main characters that drew you in with every word on the page. It's not even just AJ and Rory, literally EVERY single character was likable. Well, other than the ones that were made for the reader to hate, of course. Can we take a moment to appreciate Rory? He is THE perfect man. He was so sweet, caring, and patient with AJ in every way that mattered.
With how much I enjoyed Fragmented Desires, I can't wait to read more from this author! Mia and Oliver's story is next, and I've been rooting for them from the start. 👀I highly recommend this book yall!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the storyline for AJ was just incredible and so upsetting at the same time, hearing what AJ and Chloe went through pulled on the heart strings, AJ thinking she couldn't have happiness, then along came Rory, absolutely brilliant book. so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to read the arc, can't wait to see what Oliver and Mia's story is, already gripped onto that ❤️
“for the first time in so long i feel like breathing isn’t a fight.”
this is one of the most beautiful books i have ever read. mk’s debut is everything i expected it to be and more. from the raw, bone-deep emotion and connections between the characters, to the very important, very real struggles with mental health, this book has them all and treats them with the care that they deserve. there are fragments of this book that will break you and the others will heal you all over again. it’s truly so beautiful to see how all of the pieces fit against each other and how strongly you can feel the characters coming off of the pages.
there aren’t enough words in any language to describe how i feel about this book. truthfully, the only word that comes to mind as i’m writing this is family. the overwhelming sense of family in fragmented desires will have you in tears. family doesn’t need to be blood, we all know this, and i highly encourage you read this book just as a reminder. from the main characters, to each and every character that gets introduced in this book, you’ll be hooked and wanting more. i’m already on the edge of my seat for what’s next in this series, and i’m so beyond proud of mk for her debut. thank you for sharing this journey with me. 🖤
happy release day! go snag this baby on ku and in paperback on amazon <3
This was a very emotional, character-driven slow burn that, to me, felt deeply centered on one core idea: you have to fight for the things that make you feel alive — even when that fight is against your own fears.
What struck me the most is how personal AJ’s journey feels. She isn’t just “guarded” in a typical romance-heroine way — her walls are solid, built over years of trauma, anxiety, panic attacks, and survival. Even the people who became her safe haven, like Eddie and the triplets, had to work hard to earn a place inside that armor. That’s why Rory’s presence feels so disruptive and fascinating at the same time.
Rory, with his relentless warmth and determination, never stops wanting to know AJ and tear down her walls — almost as if he’s drawn to her aura. For a large part of the story, his interest feels completely one-sided, and that dynamic actually worked for me. He keeps showing up, keeps choosing her, even when she can only give him crumbs in return. And somehow, slowly, patiently, he manages to slip inside a shell that took years for anyone else to penetrate.
I also really appreciated the emotional softness of Rory’s character. He’s truly a green-flag cinnamon-roll fighter - strong in the ring, but incredibly gentle in the way he handles AJ. The small, tender gestures were some of my favorite parts: him sharing his playlist with her, the way he truly listens to everything she says (whether it’s about training or small pieces of herself), and all those quiet moments that show he understands she needs time, not pressure. Those details made their connection feel believable and earned.
Among the side characters, Oliver completely stole my heart. At the beginning, I actually felt more chemistry between him and AJ than between her and Rory, but as the story progressed, I loved seeing the layered nature of their relationship. They truly are pillars for each other, yet it becomes clear that (despite their deep bond) they both need other people in their lives to grow. Mia was interesting too. At first, I didn’t fully connect with her, even though I liked her positive energy and the way she pushed AJ toward a lighter outlook. But toward the end, I genuinely warmed up to her and appreciated her role in AJ’s emotional evolution.
That said, I did struggle with the pacing. The first half, especially up to around the 60% mark, felt slow and occasionally repetitive, and the writing style sometimes made me reread sentences to fully grasp them. I also wish certain aspects had been explored more deeply — particularly AJ’s past and the fighting storyline, which sometimes felt like background elements rather than fully developed arcs.
Unfortunately, it didn’t quite reach a full 4 stars for me because the author’s narrative style often slowed down my reading. At times, I found myself getting stuck on the way certain scenes were presented, and there was also quite a bit of repetition, especially in the earlier part of the book. The characters, too, initially felt somewhat stylized and a little distant, but as the story progressed they softened and became more clearly shaped within their roles. Despite this, the reading still gave me many beautiful and heartfelt moments that made the journey worthwhile.
For a debut novel, though, the author’s voice is very distinct and noticeable. What stood out to me is her ability to portray traumatized characters in a way that feels patient and realistic: she gives them time to slowly step out of their armor, while also showing how healing often happens alongside people who support them rather than in isolation.
Ultimately, what made this book work for me were the characters and the emotional themes. It’s a story about healing, patience, trust, and the quiet bravery it takes to let someone see you when you’ve spent years hiding.
If you enjoy slow burns with strong emotional focus, found-family vibes, and a hero who falls first and never stops choosing the heroine, this will likely be a very satisfying read, even if it takes a little patience to get there.
Many thanks to Luna Literary Management and the author for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you so much to MK for trusting me with an ARC of Fragmented Desire! After reading FD I truly believe this is only the beginning of an incredible author journey for her ✨️
Avery’s story completely stayed with me. She’s strong in ways she doesn’t even realize, and honestly… she really is Eddie’s kiddo through and through.😩 Seeing her growth, her pain, and the way she slowly learns what love is supposed to feel like made this book unforgettable.
The triplets? Absolute gems. The kind of people who remind you that family isn’t always the one you’re born into, sometimes it’s the one that finds you when you need it most. And Mia… we all deserve a friend like Mia in our lives. PS - I need Ol & Mia book ASAP!
Chloe’s story broke me. I cried so much while reading 😭 In my mind, Chloe was the one who brought them all together, the reason Avery finally got to see what real love looks like.
And Rory… yeah. He officially entered my top green-flag book boyfriends list 🫶
This was one of those books I read slowly on purpose because I didn’t want it to end. Every page carried raw pain, healing, and love, and by the end it truly felt like Avery found the family she was always destined for.
Definitely the best book I read so far since the beginning of the year !
I’m convinced Mk has actually been writing for years under a pen name and this isn’t a debut because just no way. It was so freaking good.
An absolute delicious slow burn with all the tension. Witty banter for days. A sassy, strong FMC. Found family with emotional depth. And the cherry on top a down bad yearning man. I mean what more could you ask for.
The mental health rep was so well done. So many profound statements that truly hit you in the chest. I could truly feel all the emotions and inner turmoil the characters were going through right alongside them.
I never get tired of a found family but this one was a unique twist. Unlike any I’ve read before. You can’t help but to fall in love with all the characters. I will be NOT so patiently waiting for the next book to be back with them again.
I also just have to point out how well done I thought the fighting aspect was. You can tell Mk has knowledge in the sport and explains facets of it so you can understand too. A lot of sports romances I feel can gloss over the actual sport aspect. With this being an integral part of the story I thought there was a perfect balance between the romance and sport.
i was so unbelievably excited for this book and mk blew me away i feel in love with these babies well before the arcs even rolled out but nothing really compares to loving them after finishing the book rory might just make you believe a man can be good aj reminds you that feeling broken is okay and you can still find your people by just being you mk you truly did such an amazing job with your first novel and i am so so proud of you i cannot wait to see where you go from here and follow along with these characters for the rest of the series
I’m going to bully everyone into reading this one. SNS Rory and AJ deserve all the love and more. Rory is down bad from the start. He is determined to break down every barrier AJ gives him. He takes care of AJ in every way. AJ, don’t take her kindness for weakness. She is such a bad ass. Putting everyone before herself. She is what true strength looks like. I’m usually one to pick the mmc in a book, but AJ has my heart and is the soul of FD🐍
m.k. jensen where have you been???? the west haven series is about to be my new fav romance!! i adore when the mmc is so down bad that he’s patient to get what he wants and rory is 100% that guy!! he’s training to get back in the professional fighting circuit and avery jude is his striking coach, but oh does he want her to be much more! the banter and emotional connection was too good but part of me wanted to see aj and oliver together……
This book was beautifully written. AJ was such a well rounded character, she was resilient as well as frustrating and I love that in my characters. It was such a refreshing balance. Rory was the most perfect MMC for her. I love them so much, I can't wait to read the next book!
damn, this was so good i literally got some of it TATTOOED on my arm.
this book is for the people that have had a rough start to life and need the reminder that everyone deserves love in all of its beautiful shapes and forms.
if you like MMA romance, a man that embodies green flag and a gloomy little storm cloud, a chaotic representation of girl friendship and swoony side characters PICK THIS UP PLEASE!!
AJ was everything i needed in an FMC. a raw, powerful strongminded HURT woman who got the love she deserved. but that love wasn't just from our MMC. it was also from the found family, from the beautiful girl who became her best friend and the man down bad who loves her with his entire heart and soul. Rory is a man who knows exactly what he wants and he let NOTHING stop him, he went after our girl and kept going until he got her, and boy when he got her... it was perfect. he was so full of love and life, and he needed that person to share it all with.
the emotions i felt during this book were a roller coaster of intensity. one-minute i'm giggling feet swinging - next chapter i'm sobbing on my floor. (there are pictures to prove it)
MK, i'm honored to have been a part of this journey. thank you for taking the chance on me and letting me Beta read.
I will bully the fuck outta you until you read this book. Just saying.
Avery Jude, AJ is my girl. She is fierce, loyal, independent, and is in the thick of her self preservation mode after everything she’s been through.
Rory. My mannnnnns. This boy is down so bad, confident, tatted, broken just how I like ‘em, and theeee most steady mmc.
The mental health rep throughout this insanely well done & I so appreciated the raw moments 🥺🥺
Mia, Oliver, Eddie, Max, and Eli are some of the best found family and supporting characters. Truly cannot wait to get back to this crew with book two. (Yeah, yeah, book one isn’t even out yet- I KNOW!)
Yep, that’s all you get from me. Just know I’m also bullying MK daily for book two.
OH! Also, you’re going to go from laughing to full body goosebumps more than once. You’re welcome.
“Scars don’t define brokenness. They don’t make us weak. They teach us how to love without causing them.” 🥺🥺🥺
This book hit me so dang hard, literally starting with the dedication.
Avery, aka AJ, A, and Avery Jude or Jude by Rory, is our bad a$$ FMC with a troubled past. She really went through it, and considers herself broken, not fit for relationships and not able (or really willing) to let anyone close. Which has been all well and fine for her for several years until she has to take over operations of her found family's gym and meets the newest trainee: Rory.
I'm sorry but I have to say it, Rory is perfect. In all sense of the word, p e r f e c t. You can't convince me otherwise 😂 In the words of Avery: "Rory is genuinely all the good parts of life. He is kind and outgoing and pays attention to the tiniest things. He makes sure that the attention is appropriately placed in all situations." Did I mention he is a perfect gentleman who shows up EVERY TIME, wants desperately just to care for Avery, and spends literal months devoting himself to being a steady and reliable constant in her life so she feels comfortable opening up to him? AND... despite being a complete and utter (hot) golden retriever, he can (and does) just lean in close and literally drip sin from his mouth 😩
To get this back on track, our perfect man Rory falls flat on his face down bad for Avery and she tries SO HARD to resist. This is a slow burn, after all. But despite trying so hard, she can't deny how safe and easy it is to talk to him, how he notices every little thing, and has showed up every single time. It's inevitable. To quote our girl again, "If a girl could deny Rory Davis when he said please… Well, that girl wouldn’t be me." Girl, same.
The character growth by Avery in this story is incredible. Watching her go from someone who keeps her distance from everyone, not thinking she's worth anything and thinking she will only cause damage to others, and has walls as tall the eye can see, to someone opens up about her past, makes a new friend, is encouraged to let go and be free and just LIVE. To know and trust that she has a group of people who love her and will always be in her corner 🥹 Avery and I definitely have some shared trauma here and I was just so thrilled to see such a beautiful trajectory of life open up for her ❤️
Thank you to Luna Literary PR, the Author and publisher for allowing me to read and review, it was a joy!

“You have to fight for what makes you feel alive.”
Rory Davis is down to his last real shot at making it as a professional fighter. Returning to West Haven—the place where his love for the sport began—was supposed to be about redemption. He didn’t expect AJ.
Avery Jude “AJ” Davenport has fought her entire life for the stability she’s built at West Haven. As the new head striking trainer, her world is structured, controlled, and carefully guarded. No one gets close.
Until Rory walks in as her new fighter.
He’s steady. Intentional. Certain.
And somehow, he sees every crack in the walls AJ has built around herself—and instead of breaking them down, he patiently waits for her to let him in.
WOW. What. A. Debut.
First and foremost, thank you M.K. and Lunar Literary for letting me be part of the ARC team and read Fragmented Desires ahead of its release date. I’m so grateful I got to experience this early.
M.K. writes one of the best steady, ever-present MMCs I’ve read in a while. Rory isn’t loud or chaotic—he’s grounded. Intentional. Solid. And that presence? It’s everything.
I loved AJ’s strength… and my heart hurt for why she had to be that strong in the first place. Watching Rory slowly seep into the cracks of the walls she’s built was glorious. He doesn’t rush her healing. He just stays. And sometimes that kind of love is the most powerful.
The banter between AJ and Rory? So good. You can feel her coming out of her shell with him, little by little. And the way she finally lets herself break down—only for Rory to hold her up like it’s second nature? I melted.
And the found family in this one? Elite. The way everyone rallies around AJ when she’s hurting—and the comfort Mia brings her—added so much depth and heart to the story.
This MMA romance packed emotional punches and I cannot wait for book two.
✨ Tropes: 🖤 Storm Cloud FMC x Steady MMC 🥊 Trainer x Fighter 🐍 Broken FMC 🖤 Strangers to Lovers 🏠 Close Proximity 🤍 Found Family 🥋 MMA Romance 🔥 Slow Burn 💙 He Falls First
An emotional, steady-burn romance about fighting for your passion—and letting someone fight for your heart.
Fragmented Desires by M.K. Jensen is one of the most emotionally resonant debuts I’ve read in a long time.
From the dedication alone, I knew this story was going to hit hard. And it did.
Avery Jude “AJ” Davenport is a fiercely strong, guarded FMC who has built her life around control and discipline. As the head striking trainer at West Haven, she keeps her world structured and safe. No one gets close.
Until Rory Davis walks back into town.
Rory is returning to West Haven for one final shot at making it as a professional fighter. He expects redemption. He doesn’t expect AJ.
What makes this romance stand out is the steadiness of Rory. He isn’t loud or chaotic. He’s grounded. Intentional. Present. He sees the cracks in AJ’s walls and doesn’t try to break them down, he simply stays long enough for her to choose to let him in.
The slow burn is exquisite. The tension during training sessions, the quiet glances, the patience, it all builds in a way that feels earned rather than rushed.
AJ’s character growth is one of the most powerful aspects of the book. Watching her move from isolation and self-protection toward vulnerability and connection felt deeply personal and authentic. The mental health representation is handled with care and honesty, never glamorized or simplified.
The found family element is equally strong. West Haven feels alive, not just a gym, but a heartbeat running through the entire story. The sense of community, of people standing in your corner even when you struggle to stand for yourself, adds so much emotional depth. 🖤
The MMA aspect is also well-executed. The sport isn’t just background scenery; it’s integral to the characters and their journeys. The balance between romance and fight-world realism was thoughtfully done.
Fragmented Desires is a steady-burn, emotionally layered romance about fighting for what makes you feel alive, and learning that you’re worthy of being fought for in return.
An incredible debut, and I am already counting down to the next installment in the West Haven series. 🥊✨
Rory Davis has OFFICIALLY earned a PERMANENT spot on my VERY exclusive book boyfriend list — which previously only included Noah from Say You Swear by Meagan Brandy.
Thank you to M.K. Jensen and Luna Literary Management for the eARC!!
Rory is emotionally intelligent, kind, stead, and deeply in tune with not only his feelings but Avery's pain! Reading him love her with patience and intention was honestly so beautiful! There were MULTIPLE moments were I wrote the word "poetry" next to quotes in this book! The emotional delivery was just that powerful!
"It's hard wading through parts of yourself that you keep in the dark because you don't want that darkness to contaminate people"
Avery Jude "AJ" Davenport is a fractured woman who has survived, not just lived... She's been broken for a long time and the found family she builds, especially with Eddie and the triplets, absolutely wrecked me in the best way! I adored this dynamic! I don't think I've ever read a romance with triplets before and it added a unique layer to the story! Their bond felt authentic, earned and deeply meaningful.
"She's fought for her story to be her story."
One thing I especially loved was how the sport was handled. Even as someone who knows nothing about competitive fighting, I never felt lost of overwhelmed. The story stayed grounded, accessible and emotionally focused without sacrificing the importance of the sport itself!
I read this book in ONE sitting! Completely unable to put it down, and I'm still shocked that this is a DEBUT NOVEL??? The emotional depth, character work and balance between romance, healing and passion are very impressive!
If you love: Emotionally available MMCs Found Family Sports romance Healing stories ....This book is an absolute must read!!
I will be watching out for more from M.K. Jensen!!!
To start, the fact that this book is a debut novel, still has me absolutely speechless. MK, your ability to create a world that is so deep, meaningful and sticks with you, solely with words, will forever astound me, and have me greatful for getting to experience it.
Avery Jude. Her backstory and everyday mental health struggles spoke to me on a molecular level. She emodies strength, resilience, and the ability to grow and thrive from past trauma. She proves that you are not your past and that you can heal from all that is thrown at you.
Mia. What a woman. She was absolutely sent by Chloe to our AJ, and what a revelation that is. This woman couldn't be a more perfect fit in a friend, sounding block, backbone and rock for Avery. She is exactly what AJ needed and proves that it is ok to open up, that not everyone is out to get you, and that platonic soulmates exist. Her and Avery's souls belong together.
Rory Davis. This man. I honestly don't know where to begin with him. He is the complete embodiment of a green flag man. He is quite literally EVERYTHING you'd want in a partner, friend, the man in your corner. He consistently and constantly shows up, with his calm and secure presence, saves space for Avery and her demons, gives her a safe place to just FEEL, and the icing on the cake - he looks good while doing it. The way he handles AJ's trauma responses truly healed something inside of me. He is beyond patient, kind, thoughtful and overall a genuinely great man. He IS the standard, in the best way.
I will never be able to fully express just how much I loved this book and these characters. Their chosen family is made up of damaged souls but together they are whole. Each character in this book plays an important role and it is absolutely beautiful to witness. The words on these pages are ones that will stick with me forever.
grabbed me by the collar and said feel this, and wow… I did. This story pulses. It sweats. It aches. It heals. It is all sharp edges and soft landings, and I devoured every page like my heart was the thing in the ring.
Rory Davis is that kind of fighter you root for without even meaning to. Bruised dreams, one last shot, everything on the line. Coming back to West Haven felt like fate already had its gloves on, but then there’s AJ. Avery Jude Davenport. Controlled. Disciplined. Closed off with intention. She doesn’t drift through life, she moves with purpose, and watching Rory collide with that was magic. Messy, emotional, soul-deep magic.
AJ and Rory together? Electric. The slow burn had me feral. Every training session felt loaded with tension, every glance heavy with everything they weren’t saying. AJ isn’t some fragile love interest waiting to be fixed. She’s strong, guarded, and earned every inch of herself. Rory doesn’t save her. He meets her. And somehow they both learn how to breathe again in the process. 🥊❤️
The gym setting was perfection. West Haven felt alive, like a second heartbeat in the story. The fight world wasn’t just a backdrop, it was woven into who these characters are. Pain, discipline, passion, obsession, love. All of it tangled together in the best way.
This book made my chest ache in that good way. The way that reminds you why you read romance in the first place. AJ and Rory’s story wasn’t loud or flashy. It was intentional. Earned. Deeply emotional.
Fragmented Desires is about fighting for what makes you feel alive, even when you’re terrified to want it. And honestly? I’m still thinking about them. Still replaying moments. Still not over it. Absolutely a five star, heart-stealing read. ✨📖
Fragmented Desires is the first book in the West Haven Series by M.K. Jensen. Our MMC, Rory Davis, has just moved back to West Haven. He is ready to give it one more go at becoming a professional fighter. When he arrives at his old gym, he expects to see his old coach there. Instead, he finds our FMC, Avery Jude Davenport, or “AJ.” AJ is the new head striking trainer at the gym. What follows is their beautiful story.
I devoured this book. There is so much love to be found here. The main characters are strong, yet willing to be vulnerable. The character growth is real. The mental health representation is treated with care. AJ’s journey felt very personal. She is fiercely strong and independent. She had walls up to love, yes, but also to life and people in general. And the family! I love books with found family, and this one delivers! (And how could you not fall in love with this entire family?) It’s the feeling that someone is in your corner, has your back, and you are loved. Even if you are having a bad day, or you don’t feel like being loved. And Rory. I could talk all day about him. He kept being there for AJ, doing small things to let her know he cared and was there for her. He just stays, and he doesn’t pressure her. It was so refreshing to read and very emotional, in a good way.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book, and I’m excited for the next one. If you enjoy slow burns with a heavy emotional focus, found family, mental health rep, trainer vs. fighter, MMA romance, and a he-falls-first plot, then you will enjoy this book! Thank you to @lunaliterary.management and @mkjensenauthor for the arc copy. All opinions are my own.
"I remember everything when it come to you, Avery Jude."
Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️
The book was a punch right to my heart (in the best way), and definitely left a bruise. AJ’s walls are sky-high (and for good reason), and she's spent years doing everything to protect herself... only to have her carefully established schedule thrown off with the arrival of Rory Davis. Rory Davis, who she's forced to spend time with as she trains him, who flirts with her, who somehow manages to work his way under her skin. The slow way they circle each other is mesmerizing, and seeing Avery Jude slowly start to trust him feels like such a triumph to read.
Both Avery Jude and Rory will suck you in - Avery is SUCH a badass and has so much depth in the way she loves her friends & family so fiercely and yet can't bring herself to accept it back. And Rory - the way he sees her, how he knows he might get hurt but every moment is so worth it to him (the YEARNING), gosh it really is the best.
This is a beautiful and very emotional slow burn, I am already anticipating the book hangover on this one! And the care woven into the main characters extends to everyone in their corner - the triplets (and Eddie) will get you, and it's impossible not to love Mia. Found Family is one of the favorite tropes and the way AJ fits into their lives in this, it’s done SO incredibly well. You never doubt their love for her - there’s a certain scene at the end (🐍) that is going to be staying in my heart for a long time.
This is an absolutely beautiful debut, and you are not going to want to miss this. Very much looking forward to what's next in store for this series!! 💖

I was extremely surprised by how much I loved this book. Avery, the fmc is so strong yet she is struggling to overcome her past. She suffers from panic attacks, and has trouble getting out of her head. That personally is something I relate to. She uses training to physically wear herself out enough to be able to sleep. Rory is a fighter who has comes back to town to train at her gym. He is trying to find his passion for fighting again. Rory is the type of mmc that you instantly love. He is calm, steady, and safe. He understands things most people overlook. The banter and chemistry between the two of them screams at you off the pages. I enjoyed how the relationship between the characters grows. I felt so many unexpected emotions while reading this book. There are parts of this story that will remain rent free in my head. I highly recommend this book. It is an amazing debut.
Some of my favorite quotes from the book~
For the girls that crawled out of darkness and never quit fighting.
She needs to feel safe and at the moment she feels unsteady. I always want to be her steady.
“I’m not asking you for anything because I know how much stability means to you. I won’t break that. But I want what you give me. I love being in your space. So let’s not blow this up. It’s a good night for an orgasm and scrabble. Let’s keep it that way.”
"You have to fight for what makes you feel alive." MK took those words and came out swinging with such a beautifully gritty first release.
Avery Jude is the epitome of a fighter. She's fiercely strong and so incredibly resilient. She's clawed her way out of darkness and does not let that define her; instead, she moves through life with purpose and stands as a reminder for all of us that our scars and our trauma do not determine our worth.
Rory Davis is steady. So steady, in fact, that you'd find a picture is his gorgeous tattooed self right next to the definition of the word if you were to look it up. He's got one last chance to make it as a professional fighter and try to find the passion that he's lost...and then he finds Au. He's invested but not pushy. He doesn't try to smash down walls, he slowly helps dismantle them a single brick at a time by providing safety and a soft place to land. The ultimate green flag.
Fragmented Desires gave me everything I wanted in a MMA romance: grit, heart, purpose, emotional vulnerability and characters that feel like family. West Haven felt alive, the fighting scenes were electric and the romance felt intentional and earned. At times it even felt like my own heart was the one swinging in the ring (I'II never look at a snake tattoo the same way again - *clutches emotional support sticker*) But my biggest take away from the story it's this: Healing may not be peaceful but the people you chose to have in your corner will absolutely help you fight your way back to the light.
Fragmented Desires by MK Jensen 5 out of 5 stars ARC
Thank you Luna Literary Management and MK for this early copy. All parts of this review are of my honest opinion 💚
I normally don't find MMA romances anywhere and I am so glad this one now exists! I was immediately hooked and I couldn't put it down. MK perfectly represented mental health and trauma without making it feel like too much. Yes, it was heartbreaking, but it was also so beautiful. It added such depth to the characters, especially AJ.
And speaking of AJ, I couldn't help but love her. She honestly makes me jealous because of her strength both mentally and physically. Like whew, we know she is hawt 🥵 We can't forget about Rory either. He is a DREAM. He is so attentive to AJ and truly understands her in ways that the others couldn't. Don’t get me wrong, Eddie, the triplets, and Mia are a-maz-ing, but they couldn't do what Rory could (though Mia comes extremely close). This goes to show how they are honestly perfect for each other 😍
I also loved all of the other characters, except Kyle, he’s a vial kind of human, but the others are who I think everyone would want in their lives. Like come on, Eddie and his sticky notes are so adorable 🥺 and I genuinely teared up at the ending when we found out his reason for using them. Like were you trying to break my heart MK? 😩
So if you haven’t figured it out by my rambling, I really loved this book and I think you all should read it too. And if you need a snack while reading the book, try some pink frosting and chocolate chips, iykyk 😉
Arc Review First off I would like to thank Luna & MK for the opportunity to read and review this book.
AJ Davenport & Rory Davis I don't think I have the words for this one, I absolutely loved it so much the whole storyline and the characters and side characters are just so perfectly balanced and well done, they give that complex but totally relatable vibes and feel so real. I love Avery so much, like I want to be her bestie and keep her close to me at all times I love how strong and resilient she is while still fighting for her life, while being closed off but only letting a select few in. I love Rory so dang much, that man is the definition of a man obsessed. I love that he was going after his dreams and doing anything it took to make that happen include change up his training. I love how patient and vulnerable he was with Avery while also just seeing her for who she is and showing up regardless for her. I loved watching them slowly build their connection through trust and friendship.
5/5 Recommend this book, Y'all for this to be MK debut novel, she doesn't read like one at all! She is so well developed and detailed that you normally don't get in a debut and I loved it. I love how well the story flows and that she handles the hard topics with the upmost gentle care and respect it deserves while still bringing the humor and found family vibes. Also I'm ready for book two ASAP 🫶🏼
The setting for this book is a gym owned by the West family, where Avery Jude (AJ), a tough, guarded trainer, finds herself navigating new dynamics when Rory, returns to town. Rory is charming, persistent, and determined to break through AJ’s walls, while AJ is haunted by her past, struggling with insomnia, and fiercely protective of her independence. As they train together, their chemistry simmers, but AJ’s trauma and trust issues threaten to keep them apart. With steamy tension, emotional depth, and a found-family vibe, this book is all about healing, trust, and the slow burn of attraction. I liked how the characters in this book were portrayed. AJ's trauma, making her tough. Rory's charms and golden retriever energy. Eddie, Oliver, Eli and Maxwell as found family being protective over AJ. It is all well written en developed. I love the tension between AJ and Rory and am happy they got a couple of steamy and emotional moments. I especially liked how the scene with AJ's panic attack was written. What I do think that could have been an improvement to the book was less repetition of scenes in the beginning of the book. I would also loved to have more details about AJ's past. This was now briefly explained. Same goes with the fighting arc in the book. Give us more of that! I think exploiting these parts more would have made this book more complete. This all concludes it all in a very enjoyable slow burn.
I want to thank MK Jensen and Luna Literary for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Fragmented Desires. This was my first book by this author, and I already know I’ll be recommending their work to anyone who will listen.
We follow Avery Jude (AJ), an inspiring yet deeply traumatized main character who carries the weight of her past quietly. She keeps her inner circle small and is fiercely loyal to the people she loves. AJ is the kind of person who always shows up for others, no matter what she’s going through herself. Then there’s Rory, our main male character, whose only goal is to truly get to know AJ—every part of her. His patience and determination to break through her walls made their dynamic incredibly emotional to watch unfold. I won’t lie—reading about AJ’s trauma made me cry. Not just tear up, but full on boohoo cry. Her pain felt real, and her healing journey was even more powerful. At her core, AJ didn’t need saving—she just needed someone to show up for her the way she had always shown up for everyone else.
This book is a powerful reminder that people often overlook the “strong” friend, the strong family member—the one everyone assumes is fine. Sometimes, believing they could be hurting challenges the image we’ve built of them, and it’s easier to look away. This story shines a light on that reality in a raw and emotional way. This was a deeply moving, unforgettable read.

The story follows AJ, the FMC, and Rory, the MMC. AJ has been through a lot in life and was taken in by a single dad with three sons. Together they run a MMA gym. Rory attended the gym long ago, and is now back to try and find the spark of joy in fighting that he last felt while at their gym.
Rory flirting with AJ has me kicking my feet. “Flirt with my trainer? I feel like that wouldn’t be incredibly smart. ... And we both know you don’t like dumb guys, Jude.” “You’ll know when I ask you out, Jude. I promise.”
I'm dying.
And the way her family and friends show up for her? God, the tattoo scene had my nose tingling with tears. I loved seeing AJ come into her own and realize that she doesn't have to fight anything alone. Rory was the steady presence that she needed in her life to continue healing.
I had a feeling that Rory would be fighting for Oliver once they found out that Kyle asked for Oliver in the fight. I'm glad I was right.
Overall, M.K. Jensen was able to write a story that made me invested in the characters. I love the found family, the dynamic between the patient Rory and skittish AJ, and the satisfaction of karma finally served.
Thank you to Luna Literacy Management and M.K. Jensen for an advanced copy.

I recently finished Fragmented Desires and it's safe to say this story is going to stay with me for a long time. I loved everything about it from the characters (side characters included), the storyline, the banter and angst. It's truly a gem of a book and I'm so excited for everyone to discover it!
AJ puts the fight in fighter and I related to her on a deeper level. Broken, guarded, and her struggle to feel deserving of any happiness due to her traumatic past were qualities I saw in myself. Her resilience to keep fighting past her demons and not let the voices in her head get the best of her was truly admirable. She reminded me to keep fighting past our struggles and to keep the good people who enter our life.
Rory is officially my first MMA book boyfriend. The YEARNING and patience this man showed our girl AJ had my heart pitter-pattering. He took care of her physically and mentally, and I love how he became the steadiness she needed in her life. A man who knows how to kick ass AND bakes pie?! YES PLEASE! I'll gladly crawl to him.
Thank you so much to the author for the opportunity to read the eArc! I really hope we see more of Rory and AJ in future books, because seriously I love them lol I'll be anxiously waiting for book 2 to come out!
