I’m a rocker with the eyes of the world on me. Waiting for my triumph or my downfall…just waiting. Most of my life is in my hands. My destiny? That’s another story. My destiny isn’t as debt free.
My band, Phoenix Rising, arrives in Houston to cut a new album. Before we perform our first concert in the city and I choose my groupies of the night, I’m thrust into debauchery. Sleeping with a gorgeous woman twenty years older than me has its perks, especially when her husband orchestrated the encounter and eagerly watches. To me, performing is performing. If a man wants to share his wife, who am I to stop him?
Unfortunately for me, I don’t make a clean getaway as I leave the McCall mansion. Georgie, their sixteen-year-old daughter, is in the midst of her own intrigue, sneaking home in the middle of the night after an evening of drugs and sex with her older brother’s best friend. In her, I see me. She’s lost and drifting. Her hedonistic parents insist she’s old enough to make her own decisions. Instead of time and love, they give her money and things.
I’m a twenty-five-year old international superstar and I know better. I’m cocky and arrogant. I know it so I own it. Somehow, I’ve always bested the fates. I have all to lose—my reputation, my career, and my freedom. Her mother’s jealousy forces my hand and I take Georgie on the tour.
This is our story and our secret relationship and the destruction of my life. You know the adage about secrets? Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead. Wise words from a wise man. If only I had listened. Secrets have a way of revealing themselves in the harshest way.
I am slowly but surely learning to manage my time more effectively and getting back to writing and connecting with everyone. I'm not completely there yet, but it is slowly coming together. Misled and Misappropriate have been updated with additional chapters and POVs from a couple more characters. Both books have about 30,000 more words and new covers. I have new covers for all the books in the series. Recently Misled placed first in the Mystery, Suspense, and Thriller category on Chick Lit Cafe. The paperback will also be included in an upcoming Reveal Book Box. While working on Reckless, I am also updating the text in the original series. About Reckless - It will be filled with death and destruction, as usual. However, I will admit to being slightly shocked myself at some of the turn of events taking place. I have restarted my newsletter with a new name, KatChats. Until the end of the year, I plan to send it out weekly because of all the news I have to share. After that, I will switch to monthly. I also have a new website. It should be online in a couple of days once the domain transfer completes. I also have a website dedicated to the Death Dwellers. It is still in its early stages, but it is live: https://deathdwellersmc.com. Meanwhile, if you have any questions, please send them my way.

SLOANE
GEORGIE
Sloane is 25, a badboy Rock Star...
Georgie is 16,out of control, using drugs and alcohol to numb the pain of getting no love from her parents
They first meet at a party where she is using and Sloane sees something in her that he wants to protect...
The second time they meet is at her home where he has just fucked her mother while the father watched And so their connection begins, he is desperate to help her, all the time trying to deny the sexual attraction he has to her which he knows he shouldn't act upon due to her age...
"Will you make me come?" Her words arrow right to the Hedonist in me and I know I'm fucked
It does have a bit of a taboo subject matter but I was gripped and my heart went out to Georgie..what a brilliant, beautiful, damaged character she is....
Oh and there's plenty of this....
Oh and I loved the appearance of Cash,as Georgies half brother, from the Death Dwellers MC...BRILLIANT !!
Ends on a bit of a cliffy, with a little teaser for next book
4,5 Stars! It's very contradictory and weird for me to say but the simple truth is i put a four star rating in this book because it deserves it although i can't really say i enjoyed it.
For the love of God, what the hell?- you may ask and that's exactly what i exclaimed myself countless times while i was reading it. Yes, this is a dark, greedy, over dramatic and frankly difficult to digest book and don't get me wrong this is right up my alley, but it just didn't work for me at least not quite as i hoped.
There is so much tension and passion, coupled with neglect, pain and even reflection, but it all boils down to the same thing. Most of the characters are too weak in order to hope for them to change their ways or redeem themselves and they go on a repetitive cycle of self-loathing, destruction, scheming or agonizingly impulsive tantrums and resulting for them to end up in a worse place than the one the started from..
Sloane is a very difficult person to understand but i guess i did it somehow, i even liked him even though he treated Georgie in a terrible way. But it was pure instinct for him to help her. His empathy, lust and heartache were enough to bind them for good. As for Georgie herself, she is in a very bad shape and yet she tends to respond like an adult, unlike her vicious mother or even her grandma who is the absolute devil.
Although it's a story line that balances precautiously between good and bad, moral and immoral, pain and well more pain, there is an almost totalitarian approach towards the biggest issues mostly in the end. I had a good time reading but at the end i felt exhausted by the tons of heartbreak that was bestowed upon me.
My last comment? Read it but be prepared to fend of irresponsible parents, crazy and devious grandparents, insane family in general, very unsure main characters, weird fetishes and people who are unable to deal with their shit! They 've got some good reasons but still..
THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- How on earth the adulterer Parnell -Georgie's father- ends up being the most likeable character along with his mistress i'll never know. But the truth is he was devastated when he found her after her suicide. It was the only humane moment of his. - Triple POV (Cassandra, Georgie and Sloane) - I can't believe Cassandra! Someone should kill this sick bitch immediately. - The writing is very good. - The age difference is a taboo issue but it could have gone smoother. - Kiln is weird but i believe he tries to protect Georgie in his own way. Or maybe not, i don't know.. I'm sure though that the last phone call was to check up if she was the one that went to the police. - About the cliffhanger, he should have known better! - I'm starting the next one right away! But I’m her first and I want her to be my last. I crave. I thirst. I hunger. I live for Georgie.
ARC provided via the ARR program of FSOG club by the author, in exchange of an honest review. Thank you!
This was a pretty good read! Super hot with great character development! The story is about Sloane, an arrogant, intense, 25 yr old man-whore rock-star, and his biggest fan Georgie, a fucked-up, destructive, abnormal young girl. Georgie is a virgin, drug addict, 16 yr old beautiful girl who has the hots for Sloane.
“Chin trembling, Georgie focuses on me. Her gaze begs me for an explanation, anything that she can latch onto to make her conclusions not be real. I’m searching, too. Georgie is so fragile. She tries to be tough and not give a fuck, but she does. She cares that her parents, her entire family, couldn’t care less about her.”
The taboo stuff going on between them made me often feel uneasy, but this book definitely is the perfect read for anyone who loves the forbidden fruit. The build up and anticipation are what gained me over. Morality, ethics and self control are being questioned almost throughout the whole book. The sexual tension between Sloane and Georgie is intense, hot, sensual, often dark and twisted. Be prepared as there are multi-layered taboo themes and plenty of ups and downs. This book is an absolute emotional roller-coaster and there are plenty of can't put it down moments. What I didn't like was its abrupt ending. I need book two now!!
*I kindly received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review.*
We wanted to love this book so much. The premise sounded brilliant. Dark Rock Star; yes please, right?! To begin with we were incredibly intrigued and the writing style felt quite unique - it was gritty and raw. However, from about 10% we began to struggle as the characters, in our personal opinion, were too unlikeable with no apparent likeability factor. We kept going wanting to see how they developed and where the story was taking us. Unfortunately by 30% nothing was clearer, in fact we were even more confused and still not connecting to any of the characters or seeing any real development. It felt at odds as to what it wanted to be and there was way too much going on without much structure. This DNF breaks our hearts! ♥
Title: Inferno Series: Phoenix Rising Rock Band #1 Author: Kathryn Kelly Genre: Contemporary Romance with taboo elements Pages: Unknown Heat Level: 5 out of 5 flames Overall Star Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Reviewed by Naughty Book Snitch Kay
I was asked to beta read this book and being a huge Kathryn Kelly fan, I was honored. There is some taboo element to this book in my opinion due to the heroine's age. That's my disclaimer and Kathryn Kelly and I have discussed this.
Phoenix Rising is a very popular rock band. Like many rock bands, not all the members of the band get along. This story is the beginning of the love affair of Sloane Mason and Georgie McCall. Georgie is a huge fan of the band and Sloane in particular. Their first meeting, Sloane notices how young she is but also how beautiful. When he finds out that she's sixteen, he knows that his fascination and attraction can go no further. But it does. The second time he sees her, he's leaving her home after having just had sex with her mother while her father watched. Sloane lives for debauchery in all it's forms. He's a former addict who's living drug free for the moment.
Georgie is a little girl lost. She's in a kind of relationship with her brother's best friend who trades drugs with her for oral sex. She's ignored and down right neglected by her pervert parents. Her dad spends money on her but no time with her. He's too busy screwing younger women with his wife. Her mother is a selfish woman jealous of her daughter's age and beauty. So Georgie looks for attention where she can find it and anything to numb the pain of her existence. In Sloane, she sees her savior of sorts. Falling in love with him was easy. Their life would be hell if they acted on their mutual attraction.
This is a very dark story. You are swimming in a world full of privilege, debauchery, drug abuse and child abuse. There were difficult moments for me because of this abuse. Sloane is a first class man-whore with just a touch of conscience. Georgie is a very troubled girl looking for love in all the wrong places and unfortunately finding it. Your heart breaks for her over and over. Despite all the things in this book that raised my "ick" factor, I was hooked. I had to find out where it was going and what would happen when I got there. There is a second book and yes, this one ends on a cliffhanger but I'm all in now. I have to know if there will be an HEA for Sloane or Georgie and will it be with them together? Kathryn Kelly has hooked me to another one of her series and I'm thrilled about it!

Inferno falls into that forbidden love category with a taboo twist on it.
It was sexy, it was gritty and provocative, and it was scandalous.
Be prepared for when you venture into this world, that you're read for one hell of a ride as this one was pretty at times tough to digest yet intriguingly scrumptious.
Inferno is fifty shades of messed up and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy it. I have so many mixed feelings about this some are good some are bad and some are just all over the place. The other part of me is screaming “WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST READ?” while the other is saying “I LOVE IT!”.
Our Story Inferno is definitely a taboo romance, a sixteen year old with a twenty five year old. It actually didn’t bother me like I thought it would.
Inferno is about Sloane and Georgie.
Sloane sees something in Georgie that makes him want to protect her. He sees her spiraling out of control and no one seems to care the girl will be lucky if she even makes it to her seventeenth birthday at the rate she’s going. He can’t help but want to protect her from not only those around her but from herself. Not to mention she’s beautiful and damaged and god help him because he knows he shouldn’t touch Georgie because he would face jail time if he did but temptation is sure hard to resist.
The story is definitely a page turner. It definitely kept me on my toes and I had to know how this was going to turn out. It is told in multiple points of views – Sloane, Georgie and Cassandra (Georgie’s mom). I actually liked the different points of views minus Cassandra’s. I had to read Inferno without stopping (even though I did have to stop a couple times because of reality). But it is a story you need a whole day to read because you cannot just pick it up and put it down and pick up again. You just need to know what’s going on.
Our Characters Georgie she’s sixteen and lost. She’s spiraling down a rabbit hole of disaster one where she’s lucky if she’s going to live to see her seventeenth birthday. Does her family? NOPE. She already knows she’s an inconvience to her family, they just buy her stuff and tell her to go about her business never showing her attention or even giving her love. It’s a damn shame. She’s a drug addict thanks to her brother’s best friend Crowell. She’s an alcoholic. She’s a damn disaster. You can’t help but feel sorry for her because the girl isn’t wanted. She’s just there and no one cares. You feel like its your job to care about her so you keep reading and praying something, someone helps her out of this disaster and someone does….Sloane.
Sloane is the rockstar god. He is amazingly talented but does it matter? He’s a recovering drug addict with a list of problems from here to Timbuktu. But he’s working hard to set himself straight not necessarily by his own free will but still enough to try and clean up his image. He sounds like an ass for the first part of the book but then you see the other side of him the one that’s caring, the one that wants to protect and help someone who can’t really protect themselves. I liked the side of Sloane that wasn’t a rockstar. I liked seeing him shield his protection so that he could do the right thing (although it was sometimes for the wrong reasons). I thought he was a far better choice for Georgie compared to all the other jerks in her life.
Cassandra is Georgie’s mother and that is an insult to mothers everywhere seriously. She views Georgie as a threat. Georgie’s young and beautiful. Cassandra is getting older, her husband is bringing in other women and men into their bedroom and Cassandra is starting to obsess with her age and looks. She’s shallow. She’s downright crazy. Once she sleeps with Sloane she can’t seem to stop thinking about him. She’s downright obsessed with him and it’s insane how she views Georgie as a threat instead of her daughter.
Overall, Like I said I had so many feelings when it came to this story. It was such a beautiful disaster. Once I started the story I just had to finish it and now that I finished it, I need to go on and read the second book because seriously that cliffhanger. I GOTTA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!
We wanted to love this book so much. The premise sounded brilliant. Dark Rock Star; yes please, right?! 4 "Taboo Love" Stars! Holy hell! Kathryn Kelly never ceases to amaze me. I became a fan of Kathryn Kelly's writing when she opened my eyes to a whole new MC world with the incredibly fresh, raw and gritty feel of her Death Dwellers MC series. When I found out she was launching a new, non-MC series, I couldn't wait to see how her style would translate outside of the MC world. Combining her signature, dark style which tends to tow the line with society's mores to deliver a highly erotic read with a decadent feel, Ms. Kelly brings to life the debauched life of the rich and famous where sex, drugs and excess prevails.
Please note that this book is not for everyone. If drug abuse, teenage sex, or multi-parter sex (M/F/M) offends you, or if you are just generally offended by nontraditional romances, then this book is not for you. If you have an open mind and are willing to venture into a world where anything goes, then by all means, grab a copy, and give it a whirl, as Inferno may be the next book to rock your world!
Sloane, the lead singer of Phoenix Rising, may have had his fair share of family drama combined with a dark past, but you wouldn't know it from the way he seems to be on top of the world. Leading a life where taking a new partner, or two, to his bed each night, owning the biggest and most glamorous mansions and cars that money can buy and otherwise generally living life to the max is the norm; Sloane is no doubt an idol in the eyes of many. Then he arrives in Houston to record a new album, and a sixteen year-old girl, changes his destiny in a flash.
He came to her mansion that night to fulfill an obligation. Sleep with a beautiful, forty-five year-old socialite, while her husband, who was also present, entertains his own desires. What he didn't count on was stumbling on his way out upon their daughter, a broken, girl of only sixteen years of age--who he had previously met and had been deceived to believe was eighteen-- on a sure fire path of destruction via drugs and sex. Georgie's sole "friend" in the world is her brother's best friend, a man in his mid-twenties--who functions as her drug dealer and demands sex for payment. Seeing in her a younger version of himself, and having failed to save another before, Sloane couldn't help but want to spare Georgie from what would no doubt come. Clearly her parents were too self-absorbed to see or care where Georgie was no doubt headed. But try though he might, the one person Sloane can't save Georgie from, is himself, even if it just might cost him his freedom, career and just about everything.
In a strange world, of hidden agendas and cruel twists of fate, Sloane and Georgie may just be the only two people who can save each other, but in a life where the stakes are high will they succeed or just end up destroying the other in an inferno of flames?
Be prepared to have your conscience challenged. Inferno is not for the faint of heart, and just when you think redemption is possible, the story will take another turn causing you to question whether a HEA is possible or even morally desirable. Additionally, please note that this book ends in a cliffhanger, so if you want to learn the whole truth of Sloane's and Georgie's story you will need to commit to reading Book 2 of the Phoenix Rising Rock Band Series. I, for one, can't wait to see in what direction Ms. Kelly will take this guilty pleasure of a story to next!

I just finished Inferno and I don't quite know what to say. My emotions were, and are, kind of all over the place. I'm sitting here thinking about the book and what to say, and I'm just numb, and then angry and then numb again. I want to scream and yell and rage and kill all the characters except for Georgie. I want to go and read a happy, easy book and forget about this one for awhile, but I have to finish this first.
Normally, with a synopsis like the one we're given for this book, I would say "No, thank you." to reading it, but seeing as how Kathryn Kelly wrote it and she's one of my authors, I said: "Ok, why not?" I thought it surely couldn't be as bad as her MC series and I love that, so once again, I didn't hesitate. Boy, was I ever wrong because this book is seriously muffed up. In some ways, it's similar to the MC series, but in most aspects, it's a world away and I would even say it's more messed up. I'm telling you, give me fighting and murder any day rather than this kind of drama that just makes your heart feel like it's been through a cheese grater.
The characters are obviously the main problem and I'm just going to talk about Sloane and Georgie; you don't even want me to get started on Georgie's family or anyone else for that matter because--GRRR--they just make me angry! We'll start with Sloane--the hero/rocker/utter jerk. He's an a**hole, plain and simple. He's a total manwh*re and well, to me, he's just not a very good guy right now. I understand that he was trying to help Georgie, but he hurts her way more than he helps her! Sloane confuses her with his whole Hot N' Cold, Katy Perry act and when he needs to leave, he doesn't and he hurts her even more. Sloane is just no good for her right now and I'm angry and disappointed with him. He brought out my vindictive side, and it's going to take a lot for me to be okay with him.
Now onto Georgie. The girl just breaks my heart, makes me want to cry for her, and brings out my protective side. It's true that she's messed up and that she did drugs, but I can't really even blame her. It feels like no one really thinks of her even if they are thinking of her because it ends with the same result: causing her pain. It seems like everyone hurts, abuses, and uses Georgie, and it's a miracle that she's still a beautiful, sweet girl. And I don't know, maybe it will help in the long run and make her stronger, but as of this moment, that's hard to see. I really loved Georgie and she was pretty much the only character I didn't want to strangle.
Okay, you've listened to my ranting and raving and hopefully, it made some sense. I'm done now and I know that I haven't really painted a pretty picture, but that's just not this book. Inferno is hard and hurtful and dark, but not all the time. It didn't happen a whole heck of a lot, but I still smiled and snorted while reading this. And even if I hadn't read it yet, but knew what I know now, I would still read it because Kathryn Kelly wrote it. The MC series will always be my favorite, but I won't stop reading this series until it's finished.
Inferno is told mainly from Sloane and Georgie's POV, but we do hear from Georgie's mom some of the time. It ends in a cliffhanger, but I was fine with that because I need a break from this book world, these characters and as for the ending, well, Sloane has a lot to make up for. ~ Paige, 4 stars
My star rating for Inferno is: 4 1/2 out of 5 stars! :)
My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading an ARC Copy of ‘INFERNO’(via: BooksMoviesFandoms.wordpress.com):
This is the first novel in the new series from author Kathryn Kelly named Phoenix Rising Rock Band Series. If you’re familiar with her previous work, readers know you can rely on her to write an intense novel with plenty of raw and emotional moments. The characters always stir powerful feelings in you whether it be a strong love or hate for each of them. And that is always a great thing when you read a story because it draws you into the novel so much more. “Inferno” is written in the three P.O.V.’s(point of views) from Sloane Mason, Georgiana McCall, and Cassandra McCall.
The story begins with a huge revelation about where the story will go for one of the main characters, sixteen year old Georgiana McCall. Georgie’s life is filled with nice things money can buy, her new curiosity with drugs, exploring her sexuality while remaining a virgin, and having parents who’d rather give her money instead of attention. She runs the risk of dieing young but no one around her seems to really care one way or the other. She can feel it, too. Her brother’s best friend has been secretly introducing her to the darker things in life without her big brother’s knowledge. She uses it all as an escape from her empty existence that has been slowly bringing her down.
Georgiana’s mother Cassandra McCall has always been looked at as classy within the social circle of high society she’s a part of. But there are many more, deeper layers to her life than what she shows to those she clinks wine glasses with in he snobby social world. She will do anything to keep her husband Parnell happy and satisfied, which includes allowing extra outside lovers into their bedroom to spice their sexual life up. When the famous rocker Sloane Mason comes over for a one night tryst with Cassandra with her husband’s permission, things become messy, fast.
Rock star and lead singer of the band Phoenix Rising, Sloane Mason, lives the life of what a rock star and his reputation is mostly accurate. He has a new woman or a few women each night, parties hard with his band mates and long time friends, and is as cocky as can be. At a party he meets a very sexy girl that happened to be high as a kite. He spends a little time trying to get her right while she’s busy fangirling over who he is and wanting to seduce him. Temptation is a strong drug sometimes. He gives in a little. He also can’t help but see a little bit of himself in this young, broken girl. After that brief encounter, he ends up sharing a very wild night with a married woman. The only problem was that as he was leaving, he runs into the same girl he met from the party. He finds out she’s only sixteen from her father!
From there, the story just falls into a twisted tailspin for all of the characters involved in this story while delving into a taboo relationship between Sloane and Georgie. This story is dark, twisted and captivating. This is not your typical romance so don’t expect that. “Inferno” takes you for a deeper ride down a dark road where the temptations are full of intoxicating decadence at every corner. The characters and their imperfect needs struggle through their choices. Will Georgiana learn to live a better life or will it end before it can truly begin? Is Sloane always going to live up to his bad-boy reputation or will he prove naysayers wrong? Will Cassandra go to any distance to stop her daughter from getting what she wants? I definitely say this one is worth the read and I’m looking forward to what is next in this series. And yay, there is a sneak-peek into the next novel of this series toward the end! Check this one out, I recommend it!
My star rating for INFERNO is: 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. :)
Visit my Blog and see Memorable quotes and character photos of how I imagined them while reading INFERNO.
I am a huge fan of Kathryn Kelly's Death Dweller's MC series, so when I was given the opportunity to read a new book from her, I jumped at the chance. This is the first book in the new Phoenix Rising Rock Band series and I was very interested to find out whether the brilliance she brings to the MC romance genre would cross over.
Georgiana McCall is a 16 year girl being swallowed up in a world of money, drugs, drink and sex. Born into wealth, her father Parnell loves her but is too busy to really know what she is up to. Her mother Cassandra finds her an irrelevance, only dealing with her when absolutely necessary. She is lonely and struggling to stay afloat in a world where she is unwanted. The only person who cares for her is Crowell, her much older brothers best friend who also supplies the cocaine that has become essential in her survival from day to day. One evening Crowell sneaks her into a party resulting in an encounter with her musical idol; Sloane Mason, front man and lead guitarist for the huge Phoenix Rising rock band. What she doesn't know is that that chance meeting will change her life forever.
Sloan Mason is 25 and trying to keep his position in one of the biggest bands in the world. After months in rehab recovering from a serious drug addiction, he knows he is on his final warning. What he doesn't want is to get mixed up in a family drama that rivals his own. Forced to visit the McCall's by his father, he sleeps with the older but very beautiful Cassandra at her husband's request. Sleeping with women is a daily occurrence for Sloane so it isn't a hardship until he comes across the girl with violet eyes. Seems the girl who pleasured him the night previously isn't 18, is the daughter of the woman he's just been in bed with and is also in the clutches of a serious drug problem. Something in him is drawn to her, he understands her and feels the pain she is dealing with. He wants to save her, but it may just bring about his own downfall.
And in the background you have Cassandra. A woman struggling to keep hold of a husband obsessed with younger women. When Sloane Mason is invited into her bed, she sees it as a chance to feel young again. At 45 she is starting to see the tell tale signs of age but she has no intention of growing old gracefully; especially as it may mean losing her husband. If only she didn't have to watch her daughter becoming the person she wished she still was. Especially when the man she has set her sights on sparks up a relationship with her blossoming daughter. She cannot and will not let it happen.
A taboo story of a connection that is too strong to ignore regardless of age and consequence. A girl that needs saving and a man compelled to do the saving. A mother who lets jealousy over ride the love she should have for her daughter and a family ripped apart by dark secrets, envy and tragedy.
Before I go further - Kathryn your brilliance certainly does transfer. What a story!
This is an amazing read. The depth of characterization that Kathryn has brought to both Georgie and Sloane is fantastic. The loneliness and despondency that comes from Georgie is tangible, although much older you truly understand why Sloane feels compelled to save her. He sees himself in her and wants to protect her from the pain and rejection he himself has experienced. The attraction they feel towards each other will be difficult for some readers but as I am British and our age of consent is 16, that wasn't something that concerned me. Georgie although naive at times, also has a very mature, insightful and cynical view of life and that is what Sloane see and feels in his soul. He risks both his career and reputation for her and at times it isn't easy for him. The question is will it all be worth it in the end? Well you will have to read it and see.
A brilliant, emotional and heartbreaking story. The ending is a serious WTF moment and you will equally worry and wonder about where Kathryn will take us in book 2. I just hope that she is writing it now because I need to know what happens to our damaged and lonely soulmates.
Oh my God. This is one of those stories that take you on a wild ride, confuse you, play with your emotions and then leave you crying your eyes out because you wished the book never ended! Sloane Mason is a rocker. His band, Phoenix Rising, is famous; their groupies flood their every appearance and worship at their feet. Sloane is flawed; really flawed. He is the very image of a wild rock star; women, drinks, money. Ex-drug addict, he is trying to keep clean…His life is a perfect mess, one that he loves and hates…Until Georgiana comes into his life; a lost sixteen-year-old that will turn his whole world upside down. His accidental encounter with the young girl takes him on a journey that can and will be self destructive…for both of them. Lust, care and logic collide and make him question everything. Georgie has it all…or rather, she is very rich. Her parents do everything for her except from being there for her. She is wild, doing drugs and making her life hell because she has no guidance. She is a huge Phoenix Rising fan and she literally loves Sloane Mason. They meet once…until she sees him again at her house. Oblivious of her mother’s sexual affair with the infamous rocker, they start a very unorthodox relationship.
Sloane cannot seem to forget about Georgie and Georgie worships him like he is her lifeline…and he probably is. Feelings become entangled, Sloane tries but fails not to care about Georgiana and things become complicated.
I loved the characters. I simply loved them. Yes, they are flawed. Yes, the story is taboo in many ways, but the character development was amazing. Georgie is one of the most flawed characters ever, but I love her. There is an innocence about her and all she really wants is for someone to love her. Her own mother rejects her. Her own mother is jealous of her. Their relationship is nonexistent. Sloane is the only person to ever really care for her and she falls in love with that. Her gilded cage is not enough to keep her strong, to keep her alive. I loved the twists and turns and I especially loved the push and pull dynamic between Sloane and Georgie. That ending killed me and I desperately wish for the second book to arrive! If you want a story with real characters, a story with messy decisions and excellent writing, then this is for you. 5 Screaming Stars from me. Bring on the next book. I am dying here!
Kathryn has kicked my butt again with this dark, gritty, taboo subject of falling in love with a younger person. Sloane is an international rocker who is mid-twenties. He meets Georgie at a party and thinks she is 18 only to discover that she is almost 17! YIKES!! Sloane gets roped into “family fun night” with Georgie’s mom and dad after his night of fun with Georgie. He is floored by the fact that this girl, who he can’t stop thinking about, is this couple daughter. Then to discover her age….OY VEY!! Sloane has been the bad boy of rock and roll for a while. He is a notorious drug addict having been through rehab several times. He sees Georgie and knows she is battling demons. He is attracted to her but drawn to her dark, tormented soul. So he tries to help her only to fall further down the rabbit hole with her. He can’t stop his growing affections to her and she is his one desire.
While Georgie and Sloane are spending time together, Georgie’s mom goes abit nuts over this rocker. She has decided he will be hers….yucko right. Needless to say, seeing her mother’s treatment and reactions to Georgie makes us the reader just love her even more. We want Sloane to take her away to love her and make her better since she really has no one else but her drug dealer/sometimes lover/brother best friend, Crowell.
Well when Cassandra (Georgie’s mom) flips and goes way cray cray, Helen (Georgie’s grandmother) steps in and allows Georgie and Sloane to be together. This now makes the situation very complicated. They are both feeling the other but LOVE cannot happen…or Sloane is going to jail for a long, long, long time.
I Love Story Time was given a ARC by the author for a honest review!
4 Stars!
Wow! This story had a little of everything! It was sexy, forbidden, and kept me asking myself...what is going to happen next??? Sloane is a rock star and went through so much growing up. He struggles everyday to stay on the right path for his career. Now that he is trying to stay out of trouble, he meets Georgiana. Sloan can tell she looks young, but he lets it go thinking that he won't see her again after spending only one night with her. Georgie has always been in love with Sloan. She has been following his band and his personal life for as long as she can remember. She never thought she would meet him up close and personal. After one night of getting to know each other, she didn't think she would run into him the very next night, at her own house! When Sloan runs into Georgie at her home, he can tell that she is battling her own issues. When he looks at her, he can see the look of....lost. He knows that look because he was once lost himself. Sloan knows he should stay away from her, he knows nothing but trouble will follow, but he can't!
There were so many things that went on in this story. Sloan kept secrets from Georgie that would have changed everything. I felt bad for Georgie. All she wanted was to feel loved, which is something she didn't even get from her parents. Her mom was screwed up, and her dad had more important things on his mind. This is definitely a story that many will enjoy! I did love Sloan and how he tried to do everything he could to help Georgie. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more and seeing what will happen next for Sloan and Georgie!
I'm so very excited that Inferno’s release day is almost here. I can't thank everyone enough for all the interest you've shown in Georgie's and Sloane's story. The subject is taboo, yes. Some of you know who inspired this Lolita-style, May-December romance.
This is the story of two broken souls who manage to find one another. Sometimes, when we are lost and shells of the person we should be, we do very stupid things. There's another component to Inferno--Georgie's mother, Cassandra. She's as broken as her daughter. The world is obsessed with youth and Cassandra knowingly ignores Georgie, to feel better about herself. Sloane is the bridge that crosses the Georgie-Cassandra divide.
Finally, I apologize for the cliffhanger. I wasn't sure which would be best. The cliffhanger or a book close to 200K words. I chose the CH. To be fair, I know everyone doesn't have my reading tastes. However when I have a choice between reading a very long book or a book that will be split into two or three different novels, I go with the latter. That isn't to say I won't read novels that are 190,000 words. It takes me longer to pick it up because with my day-to-day schedule, a longer book seems more daunting to me.
Once again, I thank everyone who took the time to read and review Inferno.
Leave it to Kat Kelly to deliver a dark story about a troubled heroine trying to fight her way to get everything she needs to survive... couple this with a dark Hero who carries with him the capability to haunt your dreams.
I wasn't sure after read THAT prologue what I was getting myself into.
The pages were dark, and I'm not a dark reader, but I couldn't look away.
Kat's writing style kept me captivated. There's nothing simple about the emotions she brings forth through her characters.
I'll admit, the ending left me saying "WAIT, what?" There weren't enough pages to finish what I now know to be a continuation.
If you enjoy forbidden stories, bad boy heroes, heroines that need all the help they can get, add to this a woman I'll leave unnamed that holds the power to make things so much worse, then you'll love this book.
There was elements to this book I really did not like but the writing was so engrossing and most of the characters so flawed that it kept me hooked I cant wait for the next one!
I was provided an ARC by the author, so buckle up because this is going to be an interesting ride! This book starts off with its foot on the gas and never lets up for a second. I was so freakin mad when it ended, sometimes I hate being a quick reader (LOL). The book starts out in the present and takes us back to the beginning of Sloane and Georgiana’s forbidden and tumultuous relationship. First things first, let’s deal with the big elephant in the book which is the age thing. Yes we know that book starts out when she is 16 and he is 25 and yes them having a relationship is wrong in society’s eyes, but throw all those notions out the window because this couple works. I love them together and they complement each other in all their fucked up ness! These two are 2 halves of broken souls. Our heroine has a family that doesn’t give a crap about her or what she does. In fact she has a mother that views her as competition that she wants to annihilate. I hope that bitch gets what’s coming to her in upcoming books. Our hero’s family is nothing to write home about either, his brothers hate him and his bandmates don’t trust him due to his past drug use. With these types of background of course these 2 would be perfect for one another. The hero really tried to resist her but the heart wants what it wants and let’s be real here, she was gonna give it up some scumbag who couldn’t give a crap about her anyway. As can be expected this doesn’t go over too well with many of the other characters in the book. As is often the case with taboo situations, once found out the repercussions can be devastating for all those involved. I can’t even tell you guys how much I really enjoyed this book without giving away anymore of the plot. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately because we get to hold onto these characters longer, this book ends in a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
~*~My Thoughts~*~ A 5 star rating Holy freaking balls!!! I literally just put this down and feel like I've been punched in the stomach repeatedly. This book was freaking nuts and I loved every single second. I adore Kat's books so I went into this knowing I would probably love it. I have to say this is probably one if not her best book to date. I want to scream at her and tie her to my bed demanding she gives me the next book. Alright dialing back my crazy (calm breaths) this book just did it for me in every way. The storyline was absolutely amazing and so different from other rockstar books. This book is not for the faint of heart it's dirty, raw, and just stunning. I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of this series. All I can say is I bow down to you Kat and pretty pretty please hurry with the second book.
Received a complimentary copy from the author for an honest review.
You can always expect to read something with a lot of rawness, emotional moments, and characters that you'll feel strongly about, love them or hate them, from a novel by Kathryn Kelly. This is what I enjoy about this author's work. Inferno delves into something that is taboo(illegal) but still this story is dark, twisted and captivating! If you want sweet romance and an easy love story, this isn't it. But if you like to read stories that tempt with an enthralling storyline, strong intoxicating decadence between the characters and their imperfect needs, this is more your thing. I definitely say this one is worth the read and I'm looking forward to what is next in this series. And yay, there is a sneak-peek into the next novel of this series toward the end!~
My full blogging review will be posted at: BooksMoviesFandoms.wordpress.com
Reviewed for Confessions From Romaholics Review copy kindly provided by author in exchange for a honest review So this wasn’t the book I expected, which I only have myself to blame for as I didn’t read the full blurb when I accept this book for review. This will not impeded my judgement on the book and if you are a fan of taboo stories and rockstars get ready for a rocky ride as this story is amazing!!!
Inferno is the first in her new Phoenix Rising Rock Band series and introduces to a spoilt rich sixteen year named Georgiana and Sloane the 25 year lead singer of the band who paths cross thanks to fate and family. Georgiana Mc Call is a massive fan of the band and she gets anything she wants thanks to her parents but isn’t enough . Swept into a life of drugs seeking attention from her older brother’s best friend Crowell , she does what she wants as parents don’t know or don’t care as they got their own issues . Her father Parnell does care but he too busy with his mistress and trying to keep her mother happy without revealing his big secret. As her mother Cassandra is a moody woman jealous of her beautiful daughter, only dealing with her when she has too, wanting to have the attention all on her. It would be easier if her brothers who love and care for her around but her brothers busy with their own lives unaware of what is happening. Her life is a sad existence , you want to feel sorry when you first me here but she acts like a spoilt immature brat .
However we discover Georgiana only wants love and wants it from anyone who can offer it to her and she is lonely despite being rich. Life isn’t easy for her with no one to turn except for Crowell who using her. Crowell has set her up with drugs and now she using of cocaine that has become her daily supplement and she on a dangerous path. However Crowell sets her on journey she least expects when she sneaks into a party and meets Sloan Mason.
Sloan Mason can’t get her out of his head and unaware who Georgiana is really and what trouble she could cause for his career. Struggling with drug addiction he was sent to rehab in order to keep his place in his band and he knows this second chance is his last one . He got enough issues with his father and brothers being involved in the band business. So he must do whatever his family says and to surprise of all, it leads them and the band on a very dangerous path.
As little does Georgiana and Sloan know they are both about to get mixed up in each other’s family business thanks to Parnell and his mistress, Abby who happens to be no other than Sloan’s Aunt. Parnell got an idea to keep every woman in his life happy by getting Sloan to sleep with Cassandra after getting Sloan’s father involved. For Sloan is nothing new, as he sleeps with woman regularly as part of his revolving one night stand but little does he know Parnell go other ideas as well. And he comes crashing back into the life of the girl he couldn’t forget. Georgiana who isn’t who she said she is and he in a mess now.
Resulting him have to deal with Cassandra and Georgiana, mother and daughter, two beautiful woman one seeking attention to keep her husband’s eyes on her, unaware of the full truth of her husband interests and the other looking for someone to love and be there for her. One totally selfish woman , trying to be young again and wreck the dreams of her beautiful daughter who Sloan wants despite her age.Who going to succeed, as it seems there a battle royale waiting to happen her between mother and daughter .
I have read some taboo stories in my day but they focus on the sex part and doesn’t have much a storyline. Inferno blew me away with its storyline. This book has a beautiful story about connections. You can’t stop a connection that too strong regardless if there is circumstances that could stop it in their tracks. Time after time again has romance proven this and simply this is a story about a girl who needs a knight a shinning armour and the man who does it. Thrown in a mother who wants her daughter has , that she never had and you get a beautiful story and should focus on that rather than the taboo part. The author has written a beautiful emotional story that you can fall in love with and the characters. It just the only the beginning of this story and I can’t wait for the next installment. Georgiana and Sloan are made for each other and get each other. They are soulmates and on a journey to discovering this . Georgiana may be spoilt, however there is more behind the loneliness and wanting love. Sloan sees this and understands that , he wants to protect unlike her clueless parents and the fact he has been thorough this all and knows she needs someone. Georgiana is more than that spoilt girl and we start to see that and this what makes it more than just a taboo story.
Holy cow did Kathryn Kelly pack a truck full of drama in this first Phoenix Rising Rock Band book. Just when you think one family is crazy, the other one turns out to be as bad or worse. These characters are surrounded by so much crazy, there isn't any way in hell they will come out unscathed by the end of the book. I was intrigued by the blurb, but that prologue had me all in and finishing this book in a day.
Sloane Mason is a rock god according to him and his millions of fans. The troubled front man of Phoenix Rising, Sloane has spent the last few years under the public's scrutiny. A typical bad boy rocker living the life of sex, drugs and rock and roll. Truth be known, Sloane is trying to stay numb to escape the reality of his life.
"In a fishbowl, attention limits you. With one snapshot or word, you're either loved, admired, scorned, or hated. Sometimes it's a combination. Solitary, though, isolation is the enemy." ~ Sloane
Alone while surrounded by many is the life he leads. Invisible to anybody that really cares about him. All Sloane is is the meal ticket and he knows it. Overcoming past drug problems, he knows loneliness and can see it in others. Which is what draws him to Georgie when he meets her for the second time.
Georgie is a little girl lost. Her parents are too interested in their next sexcapade to worry about who their sixteen year old daughter is sneaking around with. Screaming for attention in her own way with partying and drugs, Georgie just wants to be noticed. By anybody. Loving the band Phoenix Rising since she was ten, Georgie is shocked to see none other that Sloane Mason in her house in the middle of the night. Not having all of her faculties at the moment, Gerogie lets it slide that Sloane is at her house. She met him the night before and chalks it up to a surprising coincidence of some sort.
Sloane can't let Georgie go and can't have her since she's underage, so he needs to figure out something else. She's in his head, day and night it is nothing but Georgie and how can he save her. Led by his past, Sloane makes bad decision after bad decision trying to help Georgie, when it finally blows up in his face. Faced with his life or hers, Sloane has to do what's right and let her go.
"I've been to hell and back and I'm still standing, even if I'm a little bent at the knees. I'd be a fool to thrust myself back into the fire." ~ Sloane
Get ready for one heck of a ride through crazy town with Inferno. Kathryn Kelly wrote Sloane so well you don't know whether you want to love or hate him from page to page. With each family member being more insane than the next, the only way to end is bad. Speaking of end, there is a preview to Incendiary and I will be counting the days until its release.
Inferno (Phoenix Rising Rock Band, #1) Reviewed for YOUR NEXT HOT READ by wendy wright
1st of all WHY ? HOW Could you do this to me omg I got sneeky peek at book2 I need it ASAP PLZ lol I'm rated this book 5 massive stars I loved it , it's giving me a book hangover I need more sloane , This was a Super hot read with great characters The story is about Sloane, an smoking hot, 25 yr old sex mad rock star at the top of the music scene , & his biggest fan Georgie, a messed up, young girl., Georgie,s a 16 yr old girl who has the hots for Sloane. Sloane Mason is an international rock star with a troubled past, lots of women coming in and out of whatever bedroom he is currently inhabiting, a drug problem that he is currently "controlling", and a penchant for getting into trouble with just about everyone around him. Georgie McCall is a forgotten teenager, who is somehow being both ignored and pulled into the middle of her parents marital problems, also ignored by both her older brothers, and being seriously taken advantage of by an older "friend" who is slowly helping her to build up her own drug habit. When these two collide, there is basically every single ingredient for a horrible situation, combined with two people who are just lonely enough, and too messed up, to ignore each other - even though they really should. Let me be very clear, there is a seriously taboo topic here, in terms of age of consent and sexual behavior, though nothing that is forced, for those that might have that trigger. Read at your own risk. I, like some other people whose reviews I have read, felt pulled into the story, despite having a huge problem with the age difference.
Sloane sees some of his own troubled past in Georgie's destructive behaviors, and he also feels for her, as both of her parents completely ignore her or just disregard her. They stopped parenting her a long time ago - her dad out of some misguided sense of equality for her having her own life, and her mom out of a really sick and twisted sense of jealousy. Georgie is seriously crying out for love an attention, and Sloane is the only one that hears her and also takes the time to do anything about it. Even though he is really tempted by Georgie, and also not used to telling himself "no" to anything that he wants, he decides to try to help Georgie out after witnessing some of her dangerous actions.
What follows is just one bad decision after another, from everyone, as well as some definite manipulation by just about everyone - Georgie's parents, Sloane's band members, his family, and finally, Georgie's grandmother, who may be the scariest one of all. I really felt for Georgie because she is 16, and, while she might technically know better, she does not have anyone in her life to hold her accountable for her decisions, or to reinforce to her that she is still a child, despite her feeling otherwise. This one ends on a pretty big cliffhanger, as it seems as though Georgie and Sloane have both been manipulated and both stand to lose something.
This book was darker than what I usually read. I can't rate it because the subject bothered me and I don't want to lower a rating just because it upset me. The writing was great and the story itself was good, disturbing but good. There were times during the book I was thinking this is five stars for sure and other times I wanted to stop reading it. I can read about despicable characters and still love a book but the mother in this book is beyond despicable and I had a really hard time with it. I don't know if it's because I have a daughter? But it just really hit me hard. Actually most of the people in this book are easy to hate except for Georgie, I felt so bad for the poor girl no wonder she did the things she did. No teenager should have to deal with the crap she did. Anyone who does and comes out okay is like super human.
Once again I have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers, this book has a pretty big one and I don't know if my heart and stomach can take reading the second book. I think if the book ended differently I might of even had a different opinion. I wish Sloan, (and I won't spoil it) but I wish he would have kept his promise to Georgie. The fact that he went right back to his old ways really pissed me off and I don't know now if I will ever find him redeeming. I wanted to scream at him to fight. Fight for what you really want. He had a lot on the on people threatening him too so I wish he was able to fight. I understand his concern but Georgie would never have let the threats of suing happen if he would of just spoke the f up. I know she wouldn't have testified against him. Both Georgie and him let people use and manipulate them.
I also had a love/hate relationship with Sloan, at times he was gentle and sweet and others he was just a complete a**hole. The book actually made me physically ill while reading it, it upset my stomach and I had to put it down. In fact several days have past since I finished it and it's still fresh in my mind. So with that said if you like dark reads and really good writing I think you'll love this book. Will I read the next one? Probably, but not for a while and I'll make sure to have a RomCom waiting on my Kindle after.
I know this review is a little bi-polar and that's why I just can't find a good rating for it.
Add a tormented bad boy rocker with dark secrets to a mix of a lonely self destructive girl with a jealous mother who's on the crazy side, a controlling rich grandmother, hot band members, secretes, lies, hate, love, betrayal, sex and rock n roll and you get one great book. This series is going to be another hit!
The story line and characters are great. Sloane and Georgie aren't a couple made in heaven and their relationship is anything but peaceful. Throw in Georgie's mom Cassandra (now she's a piece of work). The term bat shit crazy comes to mind when I think about her character. There's a lot of mothers out there that have those type of feelings toward their daughters and it is sad but that is what makes this story and characters so REAL. This book will take you on a emotional roller coaster ride. You experience the range of emotions from mad to heartbreaking with some laughter thrown in so please stay seated for the ride because there is more on the way. There are some very dark secretes waiting for you in this book and some twist that make you go "Wow, that did not just happen."
I could give you a outline of what happens in the book and how the story unfolds but I believe it takes away the pleasure the reader gets from reading the book.
Sex, drugs and Rock n Roll you get it all in this book. There's characters you will love and characters you just want to slap silly. There was even a few I would like to bury in the backyard. But the one thing you won't want to do and that is stop reading. I couldn't put this book down. I HAD to know what happened next and can't wait for the next book in this series!!!!!
If you can handle underage sex, drugs, lies, secretes, betrayals and rock n roll this book is for you. Kathryn Kelly gives you that and much more!So be prepared to be shocked and surprised when reading this book. It's not a lullaby it is rock n roll people!
