Starlight: A Spicy Enemies to Lovers Novel

Rate this book
Celeste Abbot has always shied away from the spotlight. Always having hidden her face, never showing more than her eyes for fear that no one would take her seriously. She wanted to be feared, not criticized for her looks.

Enter Brooks Hockley, an arrogant know-it-all hotshot with a hell of a past who strives for the attention of both the public and the camera.

Although, the two are enemies, naturally. Being CEOs of rivaling security companies will do that to you. But when a tape gets out of their most intimate night, a drunken one night stand, Celeste isn't sure if she can work with him to get the tape erased…or bought out.

I would venture to say that this is one of my new favorite, modern, enemies-to-lovers reads!! I feel like it really portrayed the effects that society puts on women's "mistakes" and how they're looked at differently.

Brooks and Celeste are CEOs of rival companies in New York. They absolutely hate each others guts and you know from the start that they would both just go for the jugular if given the opportunity. Brooks just left the Marines a few years ago and Celeste was orphaned and had to work her way to where she is now.

They go to a gala for a mutual client, wind up drunkenly flirting and Celeste goes home with Brooks... we can assume what happens next. But *plot twist* a mutual company rival sneaks his way into Brooks' building and records a sex tape, all because Brooks forgot to lock his door and Celeste had turned him down, multiple times.

The video gets leaked and Celeste's company starts to fail because her clients are canceling or refusing to work with her since she is visibly seen in this video and its a huge scandal.

Over the course of trying to eradicate this video, Brooks and Celeste grow closer emotionally and as individuals. She helps Brooks out of a PTSD episode and Brooks saves her life. They fully fall in love with each other and everything is right as rain.

Celeste and Brooks are rival CEOs of security companies. They have an attraction to each other that they finally give into one night after a gala. When a tape of their night together is leaked, they work together to get rid of it. Brooks is very protective of Celeste, doing all he can to apologize and show her he wants more with her. Can they figure out who shot and leaked the tape and why?

"A Spicy Enemies to Lovers" novel, indeed. There was no huge build up or drawn-out relationship between our main characters. Celeste and Brooks were immediately thrown together in what should have been a one-night stand but somehow, they keep falling down, naked, together.

Our FMC, Celeste, is a man-eating CEO dominating in what is seen as a man's world. She takes no crap and is good at what she does for security. Gorgeous, but meant to be taken seriously, she hides from the paparazzi so the focus can be on her work, and not her looks. Think lyrics from Taylor Swift's "The Man." Which I think the author grabbed inspo from when writing this character.

Then you have Brooks, our MMC, with an ego that is warranted, yet a total softy the instant he is attracted to Celeste. He is the competing CEO in security and plays well in the big boy world. He is dealing with his own demons in regard to his PTSD and broken heart over losing his best friend.

For me I sort of felt like there were parts of the story that weren't too flushed out or maybe made sense in the overall sense of the story. With Brooks's PTSD, I felt like it was more to give him depth as a character and not really much of a story line. The best friend wasn't much use, not in terms of if he had been cut, it would have affected the story. I was left wanting in the storyline for why Celeste hated to be filmed. They said a couple mean things about her appearance, but she was able to duck out and be removed from the paparazzi once she decided to step back? To me that made no sense as the paparazzi we see these days are relentless. Even if she wanted to, they wouldn't have just ignored her or let her give glimpse of her profile.

This book was overall a quick read and full of spice. It's very much what you would expect to read in a smut book and it delivered nicely.

Arc review.💋🖤

I’d love to thank Corri for giving me the opportunity to read this novel, I appreciate it so much.♥️♥️💋

The way this whole book was written was pure chefs kiss. The character development, the tension was so palpable, so powerful it got me melting. The dynamic between the characters, the betrayal, the tropes were so intense and unique. The emotions throughout the story was incredible. I loved these characters so much, the romance, the things the man would do to keep her safe. Everything was perfect. You can feel their emotions, and I didn’t want this story to end.

Overall, this novel was very beautiful, I enjoyed this story so much, these characters will hold a special place in my heart. I loved the way these characters collided together. And I can’t wait to see what Corri has for us next.💋💋♥️♥️

🥀ARC Review🥀

📚Title: Starlight
📚Author: Corri Rose
📆Release Date: October 23rd, 2025

This is a pretty good book.

Celeste is a bad a** CEO of a security company who ends up in a predicament with her arch rival.

Brooke is a veteran who now is a CEO of a security company and has PTSD and falls for his arch rival.

The book was really good in my opinion, BUT it was definitely cut short. The whole book was about a scandal and etc, but no actual resolve was made. The end felt slightly rushed, but still overall a pretty good read 📚 I really enjoyed reading both of their sides and it was also a cute story.

I really loved Starlight, especially Celeste and Brooks - both individually and together. Watching their character growth and the evolution of their relationship was one of my favorite parts of the story. Their journey felt earned, layered, and emotionally satisfying.

I loved that Celeste is just as powerful and accomplished a CEO as Brooks, while still being allowed space to be vulnerable. That balance made her feel real and relatable. And Brooks? His protectiveness of Celeste - even when she wanted nothing to do with him - was everything. Steady, intentional, and quietly devoted.

Overall, this was a solid, enjoyable read with strong leads, great chemistry, and meaningful character development. A 4-heart read for me.

A short sexy, super hot enemies to lovers set in the real world. With rich entrepreneurs, Galas and blackmail oh my! Both damaged people. Ptsd has effected so many people especially soldiers it was lovely to see the representation. And also sad that this is the reality for so many that have faced horrible life experiences in and out of war. Was a great book to mixup my normal fantasy genre! Great read!

I was really enjoying the plot and the pacing. About 70% in, it felt like the plot dropped out and we were just there for the smut. Great smut, but the details were missing.

Without spoiling anything there were drama points that got glossed over. This happened, or that happened, but we got no scene for it? Felt like a Days of our Lives episode where something crazy happened off screen and we took it at the word.

The tension? You could cut it with a knife. I didn't expect the emotional depth. The plot centers around a leaked tap and a forced collaboration, but there's so much more beneath the surface: ambition, vulnerability, betrayal and a romance that simmers until it boils over..

Corri Rose spins a story of two powerful CEO’s that are both brought down a peg or two when they fall for each other (did I mention they started out as enemies?!) Celeste and Brooks are such a fire couple! He will burn down the world for her and we are here for it!
