In a world of identity confusion, anxiety, and growing disconnection from God, the next generation is facing many spiritual pressures. Even in Christian homes, many youth are struggling to find a real, lasting relationship with God—and often, they’ve never been taught how.
In Next Generation Prayer, Jennifer Barnett offers a practical and hope-filled guide to help parents and ministry leaders walk with youth as they discover a personal, lasting relationship with God through prayer. Drawing from her decades of prayer ministry and parenting four children, she lays out a clear path for how to help young people connect with God, overcome obstacles, and hear his voice. This book is filled with real stories, hands-on tools, and honest encouragement to help you build a culture of prayer with the next generation—one that starts young and lasts a lifetime.
The most important thing a child can learn is that God is good—and he is near.
Helping my children connect with God through prayer is one the most important things I can do as a mom. Jen lays out clearly what it looks like to teach our children how to hear from the Lord and how to meet Him in a safe place (their refuge) that is unique to each child.
As I read this book, I was reminded how powerful and impactful God’s words and posture are toward us. He is kind, gentle, gracious, and compassionate. Hearing truth from God (about our identity, what is true, what He thinks about us) impacts us far more than hearing from anyone else. I’m thankful to know His voice and have the opportunity to teach my children the same.
A huge thanks to Jen for the work she has done to help others connect with God through prayer. Let’s pray alongside her that this next generation be marked by one who seeks God’s face, His wisdom, and His guidance.
