Cozy by the Fire(man): A Sweet Small Town Holiday RomCom

Rate this book
A woman in need, a man who doesn’t realize all he has to offer, and a... bear in a hot tub? Welcome to Christmas in Crescent Cove.

Cleo

As my brother’s guardian, he’s my top priority. If it’s not helpful to Cameron, I’m not doing it. Dating is off the table for me.

But when we take cookies to the fire station, I’m intrigued by the lieutenant. There’s more than meets the eye when it comes to this surly man. He’s the last distraction I need, and the only one I want.

Ansel

The guys in my squad call me “grumpy grandpa” behind my back. Fine by me.

But the beautiful woman who shows up at the station? I’m surprised at how much I care what she thinks. The problem is, I know I could never be right for her.

Might Cleo and Ansel be exactly what the other needs?

Love this one!! What a precious story of love after loss. I adored the age gap, the banter, the actual bear in the hot tub! This chemistry/longing/physicality is higher than the others I’ve read in the series so far but still kept things in the sweet romance category. I really just loved both of these characters so much, and Cameron, and Ansel’s parents, and the fire crew. The characters in this story absolutely shone. I just loved them all. Very cute Christmas read—can’t wait to see the rest of the series.

This was a super quick, cute, and Christmassy novella that felt like an even quicker paced Hallmark movie. The concept of this Letters to Mrs Claus series is so cute, and the romance and characters were all very sweet.

The only reason my rating isn't higher is just because it was too focused on noticing each other's looks for me personally, and it felt like they skipped over the getting to know you phase and were just suddenly cuddling and holding hands and kissing (a lot). I know it's hard to show a relationship develop emotionally a lot in such a short book though.

It was still a cute story, and I look forward to reading more in this series!

Thank you so much to Lindsay Rochester for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions in this review are voluntary and my own. 😊

Content: closed door romance, with a lot of noticing how fit and attractive someone is, some passionate kisses (though described in a tame way), cuddling, etc.

Who doesn’t love a good bear in a hot tub emergency, that leads to a hunky fireman coming to the rescue? Ansel and Cleo’s meet cute was definitely original to say the least and their instant attraction to each other was written flawlessly! I also loved how Ansel knew how to cook, took up time with Cleo’s younger brother without being asked, and ate sweets that Cleo made even though he doesn’t like sweets in general. I honestly loved this book so much that I wish I could give it 10 stars!

Ansel is the lieutenant at the firehouse for the Starlight Valley area. Despite being only thirty-three, his crew calls him Grumpy Grandpa behind his back. He knows that they call him this; not much gets by the man.

The firemen are sent out on a call about a bear at a residence, and when they arrive at the home, the door is opened by the most stunning woman Ansel has ever seen, Clea. But he’s not there to flirt, he’s there to do his job. When he finds some of the other firefighters are flirting with Clea, he shuts it down. Because this woman is going to be his, despite his claim that he has no interest in her.

Clea is the legal guardian of her young seven-year-old brother, Cameron, and this is their first Christmas after losing their parents to a car crash earlier in the year. They’re both still figuring things out, learning how to be a family now that half that family is in the great beyond. When she and Cameron take Christmas cookies to the firehouse as thanks for dealing with the bear, that’s when the sparks begin to fly between her and Ansel, and when Ansel starts being a sort of big brother to Cameron.

It’s cute that they both think that neither of them are suited to each other, as Ansel thinks Clea is too young at twenty-five, and Clea thinks Ansel is too old at thirty-three. Kids these days, I’m telling you — they have no idea that in another decade or so, they’ll realize how ridiculous those assessments were. But, no matter, as these two can’t stay away from each other, and fall in love.

This story isn’t without some realism; Clea is worried that she wouldn’t be able to handle it if Ansel gets hurt or killed in the line of duty. Frankly, that could happen to anyone, at any time, in any way, for any reason. What ifs are natural, but overall, obscenely unproductive if you hold on to them. You can’t make good choices when you’re operating from a baseline of fear.

In any case, a letter from Mrs. Claus to Clea appears, and you’ll just have to read the book to see how it all turns out.

I very much enjoyed this book; I love a grumpy hero, and I especially love grumpy men fall in love with sweet women. This book is a lovely story, and a worthy entry in the Letters to Mrs. Claus series.

~A woman in need, a man who doesn’t realize all he has to offer, and a... bear in a hot tub? Welcome to Christmas in Crescent Cove…

“You know what, sometimes you do things you don’t enjoy because someone you love wants to do them with you.”

-Cozy By the Fire(man), is a delightful small town novella. It is book 4 of the delightful Letters to Mrs. Claus multi-author series-a kisses-only romantic comedy collection bursting with holiday cheer. This is a quick but, swoony less than 10 year age gap romance, involving a grumpy small-town firefighter lieutenant with a heart of gold, and a woman focused on surviving through grief and raising her brother all while learning to open her heart again. I thoroughly enjoyed all the festive vibes and the dash of Christmas magic weaved throughout. My favorite part included a hot tub, a real life bear, and fish. What I loved most about this story was watching hearts melt with the genuine care and love given to dear characters and the difference it makes for all within! Even with differences, they are just right for each other’s needs. This story is a delight and is worth the cute read!🙌🏻📚❤️

“Loving him feels like such a risk, but not loving him? I don’t know if that’s an option anymore.”

•Content: death of loved close family member-in past, but mentioned on page, fire needing to be put out. No language, kisses only. Closed-door.

“I’d love to be able to call you mine.”

-I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

“You’ll be worth any extra worry you cause.”

It was a cute super short novella to kick off my Christmas reading. It was insta love but I didn’t care. I loved the firemen banter, the cozy Christmas vibes, cute little brother moments, the bear in the hot tub, and small southern town. No drama just all fun!

SPOILERS and book notes:
I love that it takes place in the south. The Tennessee/ NC border. Ok this book is hilarious. The bear eating a fish in the hot tub is amazing. So then the firemen always called her girl with the bear in the hot tub. I love the 33yo firearm lieutenant grump and the sunshine 25yo woman that made the call. The banter between the firemen is gold. The boy Cameron is 7 and reminds me of my son! I love the texting! I love that she calls him Lieutenant. I love banter while playing cards. I love how much Cameroon loves him. Cameron reaches his hand up toward me for a high-five, so I meet his hand in the air. “Ah. You can do better than that, can’t you?” I say, teasing. He rears back and smacks my hand as hard as he can. “That stung a little.” I nod my head at him approvingly. I turn to Cleo. She’s smiling and shaking her head. “Boys…” Ansel is a great cook amd she a terrible one. and such a gentleman too. “I’m unpacking her blackberry jam when I hear an upbeat “Hello, Lieutenant,” and turn. Cleo throws her arms around my middle and squeezes. I’m stunned, to say the least. It seems Cleo is not shy with physical touch. I don’t mind. Now that I’m thinking about it, I had both my hand and my lips on her cheek yesterday, so…” I love the open communication! I love that their first kiss comes from her witnessing this: “Seeing Ansel like this? Problem solving. Taking charge. Carrying a man down a ladder over his shoulder like it’s not a big deal makes me want to climb up on a roof myself.” And then attack kissing him when he gets home: ““That was so hot,” she says, breath coming hard and fast. She instantly starts kissing me again, running her fingertips through my short beard. I vaguely wonder what was so hot, but can’t stop and ask.” The cooking lessons, the Christmas!

Cozy by the Fire(man) by Lindsay Rochester is part of the delightful RomCom Series titled Letters to Mrs. Claus. This story by a new-to-me author won’t be the last written by her that I read. This “grumpy verses positive responsible,” some would say sunshine, tale is a hit with me. I will admit that I was surprised that it was Cleo who received letter from Mrs. Claus. That is because Ansel seems totally closed off, Cleo is just focusing on raising her brother after her parent’s sudden accident.

There is much to love about this story, the main characters and the supporting ones are likable, and the plot well developed for a short novel. I especially liked the way that Cleo and Ansel first unforgettable meet, is Mrs. Claus a bar whisperer too? Such a charming story, it makes you want to bake cookies and deliver them to first responders which is a great idea. Need some “mistletoe kisses and a heart full of hope” then Cozy by the Fire(man) is the story for you.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and even though I wasn’t required to post a review, I wanted to offer my honest, voluntary impression of it after reading.

This is the fourth book in this new series set before Christmas where Mrs Claus receives letters from family or friends asking for her help in helping a individual find love during this special season.

Cleo has taken on the responsibility of being the guardian to her younger brother Cameron after their parents died in an accident. She makes a call one morning because a bear is in their hot tub and the fire department comes out. She likes the lieutenant right away and the feeling is mutual but she doesn’t think she has time for love because of her new responsibility. When she receives a letter from Mrs Claus she decides to act on her feelings with the encouragement of her best friend who actually wrote the letter to Mrs C.

This is a sweet no spice story of two people who take a chance on love even though she has misgivings because of the job he has and the recent death of her parents where she is afraid of being alone again if anything happened to him.

Love finds a way to overcome that fear and makes this a wonderful warm holiday story I enjoyed and heartily recommend to one and all as one I also think you’ll enjoy as well!

The feelings and concerns are very real in relationships but life can’t promise nothing will ever happen to affect that happiness but when you love someone you shouldn’t let uncertainty prevent you from taking that leap of faith towards what you most desire.

I encourage you to get this book as well as the other books in this series. I’ve read them and recommend them as ones I also feel you’ll enjoy.

No cat caught in a tree for this fireman. A bear in a hot tub with a snack. Sometime life throws curve balls , so you got to be ready to catch them. This is a quick tale that includes everything a bittersweet tale should. There is tragedy and joy. There is anticipation and disappointment. There are routines and surprises. There are friends and family that make it complete. Full of wonderful characters. It ends to quickly but doesn’t forget to tie everything up with a festive gift. Great work Mrs. Claus! 👨🏻‍🚒🎄

What better meet cute could you have than a bear in a hot tub? I loved that Ansel’s crew referred to him as the grumpy grandpa even though he’s only 33. That helps even the playing field for all those brides that were considered “old maids/spinsters” at the ripe old age of 20. Cleo deserves the best for jumping in and becoming guardian for her brother, Cameron, at her young age. Two extremely responsible main characters, humor (remember bear), a squad of firefighters, a pesky best friend, and Mrs. Claus, all come together to give us a delightful story. This is my first book by this author but I’m already looking forward to my next one.

This was such a heartwarming and festive read.

The story follows Cleo, who’s doing her best to care for her younger brother after their parents passed away. She’s focused on being a good guardian and doesn’t think she has time or space for romance.

Then comes Ansel, the local fire lieutenant, who shows up after Cleo calls about something..... Their first meeting was funny and memorable, and from there, the story builds. I liked how their connection grew slowly, with thoughtful moments and a few laughs.

I liked how the book didn’t shy away from anxious emotions. Ansel was kind and steady, and his bond with Cleo’s brother was one of my favourite parts. It made their relationship feel more complete.

This is a clean romance, full of cozy vibes, small-town charm, and just the right touch of Christmas magic. It’s part of the Letters to Mrs. Claus series.

This was so cute! 🥰 Short, sweet, and totally gave Hallmark movie vibes. It’s the perfect cozy read when you want something light, heartwarming, and festive without a ton of angst or drama.

The romance was simple but charming, the small-town feel was cozy, and everything wrapped up nicely just like a feel-good holiday movie by the fire. Definitely one of those books you pick up for a smile and finish feeling warm and happy.

Holy tension batman!! I think there is a common misception that books without spice aren’t swoon worthy and don’t have the tension. Lindsay proves that is absolutely not the case! There was so many swoony moments in this book and my heart felt them all. I adored this book and will absolutely be reading more by her.

Thank you so much to the author for allowing me an ARC of the book!!

This is the first book I’ve read by Lindsay Rochester, but it won’t be my last! I just love Christmas and Christmas stories! Christmas can be a magical time, especially when you see it from the eyes of a child. The lights, the songs, the decorations, seeing Santa, making your list and checking it twice and so much more! A lot of children write their yearly wish list to Santa, but Santa isn’t the only one at the North Pole getting mail. Did you know that Mrs. Claus also gets mail? Well, she does, and she is fabulous about answering your letters.
Ansel is the Lieutenant and the Starlight Valley Fire Department. He’s a fantastic cook and the other firefighters always appreciate his meals. In the middle of grocery shopping a call comes through the radio about a black bear at a residence. He rolls the buggy to the front of the store and tells Mrs. Truman they’ll be back later.
Ansel is surprised when “an absolutely stunning woman” opens the door. She invites him in and informs him that the bear can be seen from the back window. The bear left and came back with a fish and got in her hot tub. Now, that would be a funny sight to see (from far away). They tranquilize the bear and wait for Cypress City Animal Control to pick him up.
Cameron arrives home from school, but instead of being excited about Christmas Break, he throws himself on the sofa and begins to cry. Cameron has been emotional lately and Cleo attributes it to their first Christmas without their parents. Their parents were killed in a car crash almost a year ago. He was upset over a mix-up of names at school. His teacher wants everyone to participate in “Good Deeds for Winter Break”. There are some great ideas and some not so great ideas. Cleo suggests they do the one where they make cookies for the firemen. When Cameron asks why, Cleo hesitates. She really didn’t want him to find out about the bear. Like any boy, he was bummed that he didn’t get to see the bear. Cleo showed him the pictures she took, which helped a little.
Cleo finds out that the group of firefighters that came to her call will be working again in a couple of days. That would be a good time to make and take them some homemade cookies.
There’s attraction between Ansel and Cleo, but there’s age difference that makes Ansel feel uncomfortable and he wonders if Cleo feels the same way. There’s also the fact that a lot of people don’t really know Cleo and mistake her for Cameron’s Mom and not his sister.
Is there the possibility for the two of them to become a couple or more? Is the age difference too much for Cleo? Will Ansel be willing to include Cameron? Is it possible for Ansel to teach Cleo some tips and recipes that she’ll be able to handle and not burn? Do not miss the answers to these and more questions! ⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️

What an adorable, sweet, Christmas romance Lindsay Rochester wrote! Cozy by the Fire(man), book 4 in the Letters to Mrs. Claus balances Christmas cheer, heartbreak, and catching feelings for someone perfectly in this closed door, kisses only love story. From the beginning Lindsay sets up a bear of a meet cute and things go from there.

Clea and her little brother, Cameron, are trying to navigate their first Christmas without their parents. It’s been a rough year and being Cameron’s guardian has her wanting to make this Christmas special for him. Things don’t start out well when they find a bear in the hot tub of their residence and have to call the fire department. It is here she meets Starlight Valley’s Fire Lieutenant, Ansel, and sparks fly.

Ansel is in his 30s, but is grumpy and serious. His crew even calls him Grumpy Grandpa. He is all business, even when the latest has him meeting Clea. He immediately notices her beauty and is bothered by his crew flirting with her. When she and her younger brother come by the station to drop off cookies, as a thank you, Ansel can’t deny the attraction he has to her. Being what both Clea and Cameron need, a steady presence and a big brother like presence, he still worries about their slight age gap.

As these three become a makeshift family, I couldn’t get enough of Ansel and Clea. They are both so sweet to each other, even though they hold back to fully letting go and letting love win. Clea does worry about falling for Ansel and then losing him like she lost her parents, which is understandable. I loved how she was able to work through this fear and find someone who makes her feel seen and heard. I adore watching a grumpy MMC soften for the all sunshine FMC and they both brought the best out of each other.

A wonderful addition to this collaborative series and so worth the read!

As always, review any author notes before reading.

Lindsay Rochester’s addition to the multi-author Letters to Mrs. Claus series is small town age gap with Lieutenant Ansel Williams of the Starlight Valley Fire Department being eight years older than the “beautiful-woman-with-the-bear-in-her-hot-tub” Cleo. Yes, you read that right, the two meet for the first time when twenty-five year old Cleo has to call the fire department because a bear has gotten into her hot tub. Cleo is the object of Mrs. Claus’ Operation Mistletoe Match in this book after Cleo’s friend Ellie wrote to Mrs. Claus asking help in getting Cleo not to just focus on being guardian to her seven year old brother, Cameron, but to open herself to love in a romantic way. Will the “Grumpy Grandpa” as the other firemen affectionately call the very fit Ansel take a chance on someone so much younger than he is? All things are possible with a little bit of Christmas magic, right?
I loved the banter between the firemen in this one as well as the endearing interaction between Ansel and seven year old Cameron. I was sort of surprised at how Cleo sort of took the first big step but I was cheering her on the whole time. Her dilemma over the risks of his job were realistic and I liked how the author handled this, especially Ansel’s conversation with her. Another sweet, clean romance to add to your Christmas reading list…or your any time reading list.

This is the 4th book in the “Letters to Mrs. Claus” series, which is a 12-book series and each book by a different author. I’m loving the stories. This is the first book I have read by this author, Lindsay Rochester but I’m sure it won’t be my last. This series is all related around the theme of Mrs. Claus’s Operation Mistletoe Match. In each, Mrs. Claus sends a letter to one of the main characters in response to a letter she received from a friend or family member about someone who is lonely, heartbroken, or closed off to love. In this book we meet Cleo who lost her parents and she is now the guardian of her 7-year-old brother Cameron. She meets Ansel, our firefighting Lieutenant and the men under him from the Starlight Valley Fire Department when they respond to her call about a bear on her back porch-it had actually left but then came back with a fish and was now in her hot tub. I loved the picture that I created in my head. Cleo receives a letter from Mrs. Claus encouraging her not to close herself off from the possibility of love shortly after this event. The electricity sparked between these two from their first meeting. I thoroughly loved this story, and thoroughly recommend it.

I know it’s too early in the series to say I’ve found my favorite couple, but Ansel and Cleo could be it for me!

After their parents passed away earlier this year, Cleo becomes the legal guardian for her much younger brother Cameron. She and Ansel meet when he is part of the firefighter crew that shows up to her house to help with a hilarious animal control issue. They meet again when she and Cameron bring cookies to the station as a thank you, where Cameron and Ansel hit it off - bonding over a love of baseball.

At first, both Cleo and Ansel seem hung up on the age gap between them, 8 years, but eventually Cleo’s friend Ellie brings up that maybe an older guy is what she needs right now. Ansel and Cleo complement each other perfectly, and he and Cameron have such a sweet relationship. The siblings have “Grumpy Grandpa” shedding some of his grump, so much that the other firefighters aren’t sure how to handle him not forcing totally healthy food down their throats and yelling about stuff being messy.

I loved all of the characters and would love to see more of the rest of the firefighter crew in the future.

I received an ARC from the author, and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Cleo's singular focus is taking care of her brother, Cameron. Her parents passed away, and she is now his guardian. Romance is the last thing on her mind. Poor Cleo does not realize that the merry matchmaker Mrs. Claus has her in her sights. Romance is inevitable. The path to get there is what makes this sweet novella so much fun.

Ansel is a fireman and at 33, the other firemen call him grumpy grandpa. He is singular in his focus on his job as well. That is until Cleo and Cameron enter his life. The electricity sparked between these two from the moment they literally ran into each other.

Cooking lessons and playing baseball with Cameron were just a few of the wonderful things that Ansel did that made my heart sing. My favorite quote was when he thought to himself, "I think I've smiled more in the last few days than I have in the past year." Oh sigh.

This quick read was so much fun to read with my favorite scene being a bear in the hot tub having his fish dinner. I laughed like a complete fool as I got a mental picture of this scene.

Christmas and a little North Pole magic from none other than Mrs. Claus make this festive, sweet romance a bundle of joy to devour.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was such a CUTE and cozy Christmas novella! Absolutely perfect for a quick, heartwarming read.

The story starts with one of the best "meet-cutes" I've read in a while: Cleo needs "rescuing" from a bear... that's just chilling in her hot tub snacking on a fish. The rescuer? Ansel, a grumpy (but secretly sweet) lieutenant firefighter.

Cleo's life is complicated—she's the new guardian for her 2nd-grade brother, Cameron, after their parents passed away. She's strong and independent, but she's also overwhelmed... and she really can't cook.

Ansel is instantly drawn to her but worries about their 8-year age gap. He quickly finds himself making excuses to help her out, from cooking lessons to playing ball with Cameron (my heart!). I loved watching these two tentative people open up, especially with the sweet, festive backdrop of a small-town Christmas.

It was so wonderful to see Cleo find a supportive partner so she doesn't have to do it all alone. Plus, a hero who can cook AND loves card games? Yes, please!

This was just a pure cup of hot cocoa. Sweet, fast, and left me smiling.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is by far the most unique meet cute between Cleo and Ansel that I’ve ever read. It’s good that Ansel’s crew and Cleo took pictures, because it’s truly a story you wouldn’t believe. Love that Ellie is looking out for her friend Cleo with her letter to Mrs. Claus. Who knew that a delivery of christmas cookies to the firehouse would start a friendship and potentially more for Cleo and Ansel. I know that Cleo is interested but there is an age gap between them however once they start spending time together they are both all in. The letter from Mrs. Claus helps Cleo get over some of her concern and once these two start spending time together and with Cameron, it’s a done deal that they should be together. Unfortunately on a date night, Ansel doesn’t show up and Cleo finds out he’s on the scene of a huge fire and she starts having second thoughts. I liked how they both talked about her concerns and things are back on track after that. It was nice when Ansel’s family treats her as though she’s already part of the family and when they spend Christmas together, it’s almost a done deal. I really enjoyed the ending of his book especially with the epilogue and the update we received. Great story.

A bear in the hot tub? Well, I can't say that I've ever seen a story open quite like this! It was such a fun start... and only got better from there! Ansel and Cleo were the sweetest together. He is known by 'grumpy grandpa' by the men at his firehouse, but he certainly has a soft spot for Cleo and Cameron (the little brother she became guardian for after their parents' passing). I love a good protective hero, so the way he wanted to be there and protect them both? Oh, I just loved it! Like the other books in this series, it has just the right touch of whimsy and Christmas magic with the letters from Mrs. Claus... and I absolutely love that! It's a super short read (easily read in just a sitting or two), but one that had me smiling from start to finish. This is the first book I've read from this author, but it has me looking forward to more!

Cozy By the Fire(man) is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. It is part of the Letters to Mrs. Claus series, a multi-author series of holiday novellas that can also be enjoyed as standalone.

Thank you to Ms. Rochester for an early copy of the book! All opinions are my own.

This sweet little story is part of a multi author series (Letters to Mrs. Claus). Mrs. Claus receives letters from concerned friends and family, and she uses her magic to help them find love by Christmas. The books are Hallmark-esque: our characters fall hard and fast, with swoony kisses and no spice beyond that.

Cleo wasn’t sure what to do when she looked out we back door and saw a bear 🐻 in her hot tub. I mean, really?! So she calls the fire department to help out, so there is less danger to the local kiddos when they come home from school.

Ansel is the Lieutenant of the local fire department in his tiny town. He’s good at his job, and only a little grumpy with the younger crew. When he pulls up to help a woman with a bear in her hot tub…he was not expecting to be faced with just about the prettiest girl he’s ever met.

This was a quick read, and so sweet. I loved how quickly Ansel and Cleo’s little brother became buddies, and watching Cleo and Ansel fall so quickly in love was just so yummy…when you know, you know!

This is the fourth book in the Letters to Mrs Claus series, and it shows no signs of slowing down with the sweetness. This is the tale of Cleo, a single guardian to her younger brother Cameron, after losing their parents in a car accident earlier that year. Being closed off to love prompts an intervention by Mrs Claus.

Enter Ansel Williams, fireman and ‘Grumpy Grandpa’ at the local firehouse, called to Cleo’s home to deal with a bear in the hot tub, yes, you read that right. He deals with the situation and keeps the younger firefighters from flirting with Cleo, because that’s the responsible thing to do, right? Couldn’t be because he’s interested himself? Of course not (ha!!)

The chemistry between Cleo and Ansel is great; they both feel like the age difference is too much (8 years, nothing really), but soon look past that as they gel so well together. Ansel is the rock that Cleo needs in her life, helping with her brother and generally bringing her spirit back. Cleo is the fresh breeze Ansel needs to start living his life with a bit more joy to it. His job is so serious, and he’s a father figure to the other firefighters who tease him, so it’s nice to see him start to relax and have a bit of fun.

Of course, there is a little drama with the dangers that come with Ansel’s job, Cleo has already lost her parents, and she’s not sure she can handle anything happening to Ansel, too, but his steady presence and reason are the key to their resolving this issue.

Another great Letter to Mrs Claus

A beautiful story of family love, hope, and perseverance. It starts with a shattered family and ends with a family of love and new beginnings. The author painted a good picture of selfless love and hope, a pointer to the beauty of the Christmas season.
Cleo making room in her life for her brother, taking the sacrifice to be present for him after the tragedy that rocked their lives is touching. Enter the handsome reticent fireman, and the mix just got interesting.
I enjoyed the banter between the characters. There are so many laugh out moments, especially with the bear.... a very hilarious way to meet. Cleo and Ansel meeting sparked up a good change that took them to a beautiful future. I was glad that Cleo and Cameron found a new family when Ansel and his parents came into their lives as Cleo came to understand that loving Ansel was a risk worth taking. Ellie is one good friend and was a solid support to Cleo, the type of friend that is needed always.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have never read anything by Lindsay Rochester before, OMG this was fantastic!! This is part of The Letters to Mrs. Claus series; it is "Operation Mistletoe Match." What a sweet small town holiday rom com. Cleo is the legal guardian to her seven year old brother Cameron. Their parents were killed in a car accident in January, this will be their first Christmas without them. Cleo finds a bear in her hot tub and calls the fire department. Lieutenant Ansel and his crew from Starlight Valley fire department come out. As Ansel see's Cleo, he finds her beautiful; but he needs to do the job first. Cleo tells Cameron about the bear in the hot tub, and shows him pictures. They make cookies to take to the firemen. Ansel connects with Cameron and they throw a baseball around. Is this the beginning of something with Cleo and Cameron? Do the guys and the fire station stop calling Ansel "Grumpy Grandpa"? Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Lindsay Rochester!!!
