Rate this book
When a fierce storm exposes the long-lost wreck of The Laughing Gull , it reveals historical artifacts, and a fresh corpse with decades-old secrets.

Iris Evans thought running a quiet bookshop in coastal Whispering Shoals would offer the peaceful refuge she needed after her husband's death.

Instead, she finds herself drawn into a web of maritime mysteries when a violent storm reveals both a legendary shipwreck and a modern murder.

With Detective James Blake and her irrepressibly curious best friend Lucy, Iris discovers that some secrets have been buried for generations—and someone will kill to keep them that way.

As Iris decodes cryptic diary entries and uncovers evidence of a smuggling conspiracy spanning eight decades, the investigation puts her directly in the crosshairs of a criminal network with deep roots in the community she's grown to love.

The names linked to this conspiracy are powerful members of the community. Cynthia Thorne, the mayor. Chief Rober Morrison. Captain Calloway. Dr. Brennan who has gambling debt. Any of them could be the killer.

Childhood memories surface linking her to a boy who vanished forty years ago This isn't just historical—it's personal.

Each revelation brings new threats.

When her quiet sanctuary turned into a battlefield, she must decide how much she's willing to sacrifice to expose the truth.

In Whispering Shoals, some tides carry more than salt water—they carry sins that refuse to stay buried.

Great cozy mystery. I love the characters and the small town of Whispering Shoals. This town has some serious mystery and corruption going on. The mystery (danger) is a little heavier than in some cozy mysteries. The story line is integrated into town history with several disappearances and crimes unsolved. In come Iris trying to settle into owning a bookshop and a new town detective who question everything. I look forward to reading more adventures of Iris, James, and Lucy.
Favorite character: Sam Lang. I will say the writing can be a bit slow sometimes. Lots of descriptions about "decades of planning", "expertise", "intimate knowledge" of the town and history, and everyone seems to be an expert at something. Still, it's a 5 and I look forward to more.

Drowned in Evidence is a great as story about Iris a Bookshop Owner and her clever dog Max with her friend Lucy. There was a huge storm and an old wreck came to the surface but there was a body on the wreck from more recent times. Detective James Blake was investigating the mystery with the unofficial assistance of Iris and Lucy. But is this mystery linked to the past? Who is trying to stop the investigation?
Can they succeed and find the truth and stay safe?
Excellent story that I recommend you read.
