CIA Paramilitary Officer Thomas Caine is a man with countless enemies, but few friends. So when an ally from his past is brutally attacked, Caine returns to Japan to settle the score. There, his mission takes a deadly turn when he crosses paths with Byakko, the White Tiger - a merciless Yakuza gangster whose hypnotic gaze strikes fear into the hearts of his victims.

Following a trail of bloodshed to the snow-swept city of Sapporo, Caine uncovers a chilling conspiracy. The White Tiger is linked to a cabal of foreign operatives plotting a devastating attack on US soil. And the countdown has already begun…

From Seoul’s neon-lit alleys to the icy forests of Hokkaido, Japan, Caine races to protect a terrified woman who holds the key to this sinister plan. Can he prevent a viral outbreak from killing thousands before it's too late?

To look into the White Tiger’s eyes is to stare death in the face. But Caine is a predator himself. And in this clash of killers, only one will survive…

The story was well written and full of action to keep the pages turning. This was the first Thomas Caine for me and it was OK.

Not sure if I'm fully convinced on the series though. There was something about it. However I'm willing to give the series another crack down the road and maybe even reread this book to see if I can get a better grip on it.

Don't let this turn you off however. This is only my opinion. Still worth 4 stars on the good parts alone.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC of this book.

So this is book 6 in the Thomas Caine Thrillers series, but the first one I have read, it was easy to follow so could definitely be read as a standalone.
This was full of action which made it a page turner for me and a quick read as I couldn’t put it down.
Definitely a series I will read more of, in fact I’ve downloaded the first book in the series on kobo plus.
A fast-paced, edge of your seat, thrilling read which I throughly enjoyed plus in a beautiful setting I loved the descriptions of the places visited in the book. Caine was certainly not short of enemies, hopefully there will be further books to be added to this series I’m looking forward to reading them all.

There was plenty of suspense in this book but I had trouble keeping the characters straight. This was the 6th book in the series, I haven’t read any of the others, so this might have contributed to the problem I had. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Andrew Warren’s White Tiger is the worst book I’ve read this year.
This is a boys book, and I know books shouldn’t be gendered, but I feel that no woman reading this could ever enjoy this plotline, or what little plot is featured around this homoerotic babble. I don’t know if Warren wants to be Thomas Caine, or wants to be with the fictitious protagonist, but either way it makes for a tiring read.
Thomas Caine is the man everyone wants to be and the guy every woman wants to be with – apparently. Secret spy, tough guy, a great hairline and a job that allows him to cheat on his partner (who lives in a wheelchair because of his previous actions) in the name of his CIA job. He is too cool for trivial things, like love, friendship or willingness to interact with his deceased partners son – who has time for that rubbish anyway? Warren could not big up this guys ego anymore.
The story takes places in Japan after an old ally is attacked and asks for help locating his daughter. Thomas quickly finds the culprit, Byakko a crazy snake-eyed dude whose Yakuza gangster lifestyle is a result of daddy issues. He’s ready to kill, infect the public in a viral outbreak (cough cough, massive Covid 19 spin off), promote racism and fuel discrimination while contributing to the slave trade in the name of revenge against the countries which have wronged him.
This is the first (and last book) in this long series I have read, but don’t worry you don’t need to have read any of the previous 5 books to understand what is going on. The main bulk of this novel is devoted to the pretty continuous fight scenes, Warren makes sure to describe every gun model, make and manufacturer to make sure we can perfectly visualise what weapon Caine is using – he also gives the same dedication to the cars he drives because this is valuable information to the plot.
My main issue with the novel, was the sexualised description of a young girl’s corpse. Warren found it appropriate and essential to inform us that “only a pair of baby-blue panties covered her naked skin” which was not only inappropriate and unnecessary, but suggests that even in dead, a young woman can be sexualised. Hurray!

CIA officer Thomas Caine has finished with his assignment in Orenit, only to be requested to be seen by a man that he owes a favour to from years past. His people in Washington do not know of this at first, but later will find out. Once he finds out the reason, he realizes that opposing gangs are after the man he is working to protect, along with the man's daughter. The daughter does not know that he is her father, and many secrets are revealed, and there is also a lot of action. A good story with many twists and turns to keep you occupied. A good book.

This was a book that had me gripped from the get go. It is very full on and action packed. The story moves at pace, there’s no fluff or filler and for me that worked perfectly. There are some strong, well written characters and the plot is jam packed with jeopardy. To be honest, the blurb mentions “bloodshed” and I can be a bit squeamish, so I was worried but the levels of gruesome are manageable. A tense and chilling thriller. Loved it

The first book by Andrew Warren I have read. This book is the latest book in the Thomas Caine series. An enjoyable easy to read thriller that I read in a day.
