Hyde by Ari Roper is an absolute knockout, dark, clever, twisty, and so addictive I devoured it eagerly and impatiently as soon as the chapters dropped. In a world where demons handle taxes, vampires renew their licenses, and the fae pay their fines like everyone else, Hydes are the emergency alarm. So when murder scenes start appearing staged exactly like episodes from Under the Skin, the host finds herself pulled into an investigation where her own work is the killer’s roadmap. The concept is brilliant, the world building insanely detailed, and the tension between our FMC and the detective assigned to babysit her is chef’s kiss perfect. The banter had me grinning like an idiot and swooning, nobody writes banter like Ari Roper. And the relationships are gold, Lilith, Adrian, and Celeste have delicious “weirdest throuple ever” energy that I’m absolutely here for. (And yes, I call DIBS on Adrian...and Benji Kwan.) Spicy and sweet, full of twists and turns, and featuring an additional villain who made me so furious I threw things, this book is everything I love about urban fantasy and then some. I’m already rabid for the next installment.
