Marketing with AI For Dummies: Thoughts

This book was published in August of 2024. Given the pace of change in the AI (Artificial Intelligence) world it is likely out of date. That does not prevent it from being a valuable reference and/or starting point. It is comprehensive. It is suggested that you scan the book. Absorb and test what you are most interested in. For most people, it would be difficult to absorb all the information.
Some examples of where AI could be useful include:
• Training manuals
• Community building
• Membership requests
• Membership exchanges
• Writing code
• Testing software
• Researching subjects

But those are only a tip of the iceberg. Again, there is an overwhelming amount of information. Slow down. You will not absorb it all in a first read. That is not the point of this book. Pick and choose; savor and use; think and try. You can always go back and learn some more. And there is plenty of that.
Most sections have a table with software that supports the topic discussed. Who knew that there were so many AI tools? Obviously, the author, Shiv Singh, and his team knew. Thank you.
Sure, you can read it all, but will learn more if you go exploring a little. If you try to explore everything, you may become an expert, but it may be too late by then. There is just so much. Focus, learn, apply, repeat. Or come up with a formula that works for you. Remember, there is lots and lots of stuff. Normal readers will not absorb it all – impossible. And if you do, you don’t need this book. This book is for the rest of us. Focus on bits that you need, and try, try and try some more.
“By truly understanding the language that customers use, companies can not only listen to customer feedback, but also anticipate, strategize, and deliver greater value to their customers.”

The world has changed. AI is not coming. It is here. It is not a matter of liking, accepting, or wanting. It is a matter of dealing with existing reality. This book helps cut through the noise and embrace that reality. And if you want more there is a plethora of informative AI resources. Yet, AI alone is not enough. There is an artistry in business marketing. It is more than just a checklist. Intuition, insight, and experience matter. AI can enhance, provoke, and even lead. But it cannot replace that human touch.
Slow and steady wins many races. AI likes precision and detail. Developing a systematic approach to your querying and use of AI is a good business practice. This book will help with your AI journey. It shows how to harness AI’s power to assist existing and future business projects.

This book is a low-quality effort of someone who used AI to create large parts of the content. There is a lot of filler and repetition to reach the number of pages required by the publisher.

If you’re looking for a theoretical book on AI combined with some Marketing concepts, this book is for you. You’ll be amazed to learn a thousand AI terms such as backpropagation, TensorFlow, and under-fitting.

If you’re looking for a book that shows you how to use AI models and commercially available AI products to come up with marketing executions, please look for another book. This book is limited to telling you in a few short sentences that you can use DALL-E and Adobe Firefly to create images based on your prompts.

Some interesting insights, but mostly just a book about AI shuffled together with a book about marketing. Less braindead than most marketing books, but that is a low bar. Most of the insights were packed towards the beginning of the book. As the book carried on, there was a lot of filler.

Like many AI books, getting the right level depth of technological knowledge combined with application in a domain like Marketing is a challenge. As a reference book maybe this is close to a 4 but reading it through for me was a struggle. Like the dummies series, you can dive into a specific topic and get out again with something applicable which is its strength but without the lists of providers, the exact applicability of most marketers isn’t relevant enough.
