Genesis: Forever An Atkins

Rate this book
Genesis Atkins has gone through life knowing he was the least loved by the Atkins family. At least that’s what he’s been told. Having a name that can move mountains for you at the drop of a dime and not being able to use it for gains is useless. Taking what he wanted had become his thing and he took from any and everybody, no matter the status.

Cheyonne (chee-yon-knee) Afor is a retired model whose agency is taking off. She’s the role model you want your child around as well. Where her life is dull and routine, she’s still Black, successful, and loved by those around her. Life gets chaotic when her prescription of therapeutic shopping is filled on the wrong day.

One takes while the other earns. It may seem like the two very different worlds would clash but somehow the wrong time is the right place for these two to start an unbreakable bond.

This was too good! Genesis was definitely just as crazy as Royce 🤣 he was so meannnn omg 😭 but I quickly grew to love him!!! He was unhinged & his mouth had NO filter!! But he was lowkey a sweetheart!! He was hilarious too! He kept me laughing throughout the entire book!

The way he jumped in & fell into his role for Cheyonne no questions asked when he got out was so sweet! You can tell he had fallen hard for her after their first encounter & vise versa 🥰

This was such a good read with lots of twist & turns in between! I enjoyed getting an update on Royce, Klarity & the kids! & I enjoyed seeing the relationship develop between him & Genesis! I hope we get to learn more about Bentley next! I would love to see what’s his deal & why he’s so pressed about Royce!! Ms. Connie Easton gone do it for me every time!!

Another Toxic Situation!!!

Genesis’s book is similar to Royce’s book, has potential but didn’t fulfill its obligation to be a 5 star. Both brother’s really don’t like the word no ( Royce more than Genesis). Genesis is more on the disrespectful side and that was something that I couldn’t get with. I would have loved to see more character development and relationship with Genesis and Cheyonne because I think that would have solidified some of the reading points so they actually made sense. I have read a ton of books where the woman fell in love with her kidnaper but those books held more details and substance. Now I’m not saying this one didn’t, but it fell short a whole lot. This book has potential but it just didn’t do it for me.

Solid follow up to book 1!

Genesis was nothing to play with and was definitely hell on wheels! Genesis and Cheyonne's first meeting was definitely crazy, and her becoming a hostage was crazier. This dark urban romance had a solid story from start to finish. Royce, also known as Junior, was still a menace, but he is truly all about family and holds the Atkins family together. I do think Cheyonne's holding guilt was rough because she was trying to do what was right, but I’m glad that was resolved quickly. Genesis truly was an Atkins, the way he handled his crew and Bentley. I don't know how the story around Bentley will be spent, but at the moment, he is an opp. Senior and Iris were wrong, but Adele was super trash! Glad Genesis handled them all accordingly tbh! Ready for the next book and to read more from this author!

Wasn't sure & then I was hooked

I was not sure whether or not I was going to like Genesis's book. There were some things in the beginning that I didn't like but I realized that was because his mother made him a salty person. Her lies made me want to hit her upside her head. She was not nurturing at all. She was also a predator.
The next book highlights the person that is the OPS to me, Bentley. I liked Brat's aka Cheyonne's bestie Nesh. She was a ride or die for real.
It is interesting to see the dynamics of the Atkins men.

I really liked the book and the concept but I was a little disappointed by the lack of character development in Genesis and Cheyonne individually and the lack of romance, quality time and relationship growth between Genesis and Cheyonne. We didn’t get to see about the modeling agency or the kid models including any events she could’ve had post her retirement so that was disappointing. Then the amount of days they spent together in her house was not enough!! Genesis has a lot of childhood trauma from the lack of love he received from his father who abandoned him regardless of what excuses Senior made but he wasn’t really that crazy. He was a YN that was hurt. Plus the storyline between what happened between Senior and Adele could’ve been better. She was obsessed yessss.. but yall did nothing lol. Why would Senior even out himself in that situation? It made no sense to me. Royce is still the most unhinged dude in the family though. Genesis is second best but not worse than Royce. What I loved was how protective Nesh was over her best friend and how Royce has been looking for Genesis since he found out about him. He was really the only one who genuinely gave a f*** about his brother and he showed it. Senior and his wife made too many excuses and it was too late for them unfortunately. Overall it was very entertaining to me. Genesis and Cheyonne are both very funny and strong willed.

Not what I expected

I wanted to love this but I just couldn’t. Genesis was straight reckless and that was ok, in the long run. There was no conversations or relationship between him and Brat. Where was a real connection between them? So many rushed explanations and lack of explanations to the questions that hung around Perry much to the end of the book.

The bulk of the story, this couple wasn’t together. When and where did they fall in love?

One plus, I loved the relationship between Royce and Genesis.

CRAZY

Genesis was a wild card! I honestly didn’t know how he would recover after that meet ugly, but in true Connie Easton fashion she made me a believer again. He’s the definition of a Sour Patch Kid, while Chey is just as sweet as ever. Highly recommend! I will say just follow the process and let her pen speak. There’s alot of character development!

Genesis.: Forever An Atkins

Connie Easton does it again. This series is turning into one my favorite series. Genesis is the long lost brother to Royce. He is young, mannish and rude. Cheyenne is the perfect match. She is a few years older, beautiful and successful. There are a lot of twist and turn. Such a good read.

pointless didn’t connect with Genesis

Felt extremely flat. So Genesis was this forgotten child. There was no point in creating two storylines for both brothers. I hate when authors dragged out storylines to create another book when this could have been added with Royce.
In my opinion it should ended at Royce. He’s storylines was awesome, very unhinged but first book flowed naturally & second book felt rushed & unfinished.

I don’t care to read anything else

A bit unhinged

I think these two Atkin books are the only ones I've read from this author and I'm curious if she makes a habit of writing books where the believableness comes from dissassociating from reality because both gave off a bit of Stockholm syndrome

I'm actually annoyed enough to write a review which is something I haven't done in ages. And yes please be aware that there will be ***spoilers so read no further if necessary. My intent is not to spoil the fun but somethings will be unavoidable to mention in this review.

Gotta say I was not enamored with the FMC. I understand that she was a famous accomplished model which is great but she was arrogant, totally full of herself and overall just came across as rather brittle. I found her relationship with her parents taxing. One minute she loved them so but was quick to point out how they owed everything to her and how of a burden they were. It was weird. Now I'm not Nigerian American so maybe it's a culture thing that I'm missing but yeah no I wasn't feeling it.

I didn't get her relationship w/her best friend because for girlfriend to be married w/children how was it that she was at Che's beck and call every minute of the day. And again Che would go on about her best friend but the only time she seemed really fond of her is when they were shopping and the friend was spending all her money on Che (which I didn't understand but that's another topic) who was the one that was supposed to be Ms. Richy Rich. I dunno I didn't get it.

The MMC Black was wild and his mouth was reckless but if we're being honest I've read way worst so there's that. Now I did like Black. He was actually a really interesting character. The back & forth between him & Che was entertaining. I will give her credit there that she was on his neck from jump which did give the story some kick. The problem is that kick peetered out. It's stated in some other reviews that the book felt rushed and I have to concur. They spent 3/4 days together had sex then are separated for a few months shy of a year and then are reunited at the childbirth and instantly deeply in love and a united happy family. Umm no ma'am. There was way too much for them to unpack for all of it to be skipped over and bundle packaged at the end.

Now let's get to the nitty gritty of the story and my gripe. I'm trying to understand how is it that Senior is portrayed or treated as this horrible person & father because he didn't raise Black aka Genesis. When in fact he was technically raped by Black's mother, then he steps up to accept and raise Black only to be given an ultimatum by the deranged woman who then takes the $100k he gives her blows it on god knows what and purposely keeps the son from him until he ends up in jail at 23. So Senior did not cheat on his wife but everyone treats him like he was out here living a double life when he wasn't. He actually stepped and was willing to be there for the Son but was prevented from doing so by the mother. Then you have his mother Adele who was going out of her way to support the rapist woman and her baby and not Senior's wife which was way weird. Then you have Black talking to Senior like he's some bum when the only reason he had any chance was because Senior stepped in for him not to mention the only reason why the family is anything is because of what Senior built and all of it was because of the money his wife won and gave to him but they are treated like they are the villains this entire book.

I get Royce being upset with his dad for not telling him about Black that was understandable but that was about all that was understandable. Then you have Senior supposedly quaking and shaking and supposedly scared of his own Son who he raised and enable to be the man he is like come on. And when does being upset or disappointed in your parents warrant the treatment that Senior received especially when the man wasn't out there moving shady. Like huh?
And the only issue I had w/Senior's wife was that she said she wanted the baby dead and not the the mother Adele. And yet the rapist gets to run off with the a million dollars that you can basically say was traced back to the wife because she's the one that provided the wealth, including Royce's grandmother lucrative life insurance policy because none of them had money. It was the wife who won the money and gave it all to Senior and he flipped it and built the family into what it was and then passed it on to Royce.
So I didn't get it. I think the author did Senior and his wife a disservice by trying to make them out to be the super villains when the only villain was Black's mother Adele. And I think the thing that really annoyed me is had the circumstances been flipped and Senior did what Adele did he would be unredeemable but because a woman did it there's no accountability and he is still treated like the villain. I'm curious to know else was Senior supposed to do.

Was it and entertaining read? Absolutely. Would I recommend it? Probably not but I'm not mad that I read it.

Vibes: Savage with a heart | Medical representation | Family drama | Fire and tension

👑 Genesis is HIM.

Now look, Royce might still be King, but Genesis?! He just snatched the Blunt & Unapologetically Real YN Award for 2025 with both hands. My boy is sharp-tongued, short-tempered, and dangerously loyal. That man does not play about his people. You can tell he’s got pain brewing under the surface, and while he’s out here navigating life the best he can with the hand he was dealt, you just know he needs an outlet for all that fire...and maybe someone to match it.

💪🏽 Cheyonne is THAT Woman...Enter Cheyonne (chee-yon-knee). Beautiful? Check. Accomplished? Check. Stronger than most? Double check. She’s dealing with a chronic illness that’s trying to dim her light, but she refuses to fold. The strength, grace, and attitude this woman moves with? Chef’s kiss. She’s not here to be saved... she’s here to love and live loud, on her own terms.

💥 Explosive Chemistry When these two collide? Whew. Sparks. Fireworks. All of it.
They challenge each other in the best way ...he’s aggressive, she doesn’t back down; she’s sharp, he’s sharper. Their banter? GOLD. The tension? Palpable. And that tug-of-war between pain and passion will have you flipping pages like your life depends on it.

✍🏽 Connie Easton, Ma’am! Let’s give this author her flowers. Connie writes men , unhinged, raw, unforgettable men and complex women who feel like somebody you know. The Atkins bloodline stays giving drama, depth, and just enough spice to keep you hooked. And now I’m over here like, “Ok but... who’s getting the next book?! 👀”

🎯 Final Thoughts:

This book delivers everything:

Fire MMC ✅

Strong Black woman navigating chronic illness ✅

Family tension ✅

Emotional depth with a side of spice ✅

Add it to your list and then hit me up so we can scream about that ending together.

Brothers To A Tee

These two brothers mirrored one another way beyond their looks. Mannerisms, leadership ability and no nonsense lead the way. Royce just learned of Genesis. But Genesis knew who he was hitting on those licks, but because of lies told, along with the truth sprinkled in, he felt no kind of way.
Now, of all cars to hide in after a lick, he ended up with a woman whose life would change not only hers but Genesis’ too. The aftermath of this “kidnapping” exposed Cheyonne and Genesis to things unimaginable for their futures connecting them forevermore. Che Che had health issues that kept her mind on business instead of love. That is until Genesis.
Royce is still bossy and wanting things his way. He immediately takes his role as big brother very seriously and moves accordingly. It’s comical to see two bullheads challenge one another but end up bonding beyond belief.
Now, they have news of a mutual enemy but the secret of this enemy may or may not shake up the outcome of his fate.
I just realized, Bentley is an expensive vehicle. My dream car in fact. I guess we’ll get another book. I’m for it.

Genesis and Cheyonne

So many things are happening in this story, but I will just focus on their meeting.

Genesis is the leader of a crew that makes money they best way they can. They come up with a scheme that have them going after diamonds in a mall owned by a man that "owns" that city.

Cheyonne is a retired model that takes care of her parents. She crossed paths with Genesis when out shopping at the mall he and his friends were completing a job.

Cheyonne also suffers from painful autoimmune disorder. This disease can flare up during stressful situations. It is painful for her to move when this happens.

Genesis and his friends have to split up when things go left at the mall, and he ends up in Cheyonne's vehicle. He forces her to take him to her home, and he ends up having to help her because of her flare-up.

The close proximity cause her to make decisions that will help her be free of him. This lands him in jail and her with a secret.

This journey put him closer to the family that he believes turned their back on him. This story is a great addition to this series.

I loved the love!

Genesis started off a messed up soul but when he kidnapped Cheyonne he truly became a different person. He wanted to be hard and mean with her but honestly he fell in love with her from the start. He was so gentle and carrying with her. Finding out Royce wasn't letting up on a relationship with him, his little brother he gave in and they really bonded, not so much with Senior at all. Mrs. Atkins was hurting over what Adele did. Adele is still delusional and wanting a man that has no desire to be with her! She really showed she loved money more than her son and hus son Lil Maaz! I'm looking at Hulk sideways, but the rest of The Twenty One crew seems ok. It was crazy how Royce didn't even ask for his diamonds and drugs back. Can't wait to see if they truly deal with their cousin Bentley and how that will all turn out. Overall an excellent read, few errors with editing, but I really enjoyed this one!

Dang…. this book had me like 😬

Just like the first book, this book was equally good. I just knew the Black aka Genesis was going to go toe to toe with Royce. But both of them drummer boys are one and the same. Black just has a lot more screws than Royce. When I was reading this, I was wondering why his mother hated the wife but still had love for Senior. It made sense, she was holding on to hope that he would come around. Now she was sheisty was af, she fed her son lies about Senior. Because she was hoping he would kill Royce. Because in her delusional mind, killing Royce would put Black in Senior’s life by default. Cheyonne was the epitome of a boss, she was that girl. When she and black met, was a terrorizing experience. Turned into something she never thought would happen. That YN turned her out and she gave him something he probably never thought he would ever have. This book was so good and I can’t wait for the next installment.

Okay Read

Genesis was a solid 3-star read for me. There just wasn’t enough build-up between Genesis and Cheyonne since they literally spent only three days together before she called the cops on him—which, honestly, was fair because he did kidnap her. Then Cheyonne spent the whole pregnancy alone without telling Genesis about the baby, which made the reconnection feel a little rushed. I also wish we got more focus on her retiring from modeling and starting something new with kids and modeling, since it was made to be a big deal but barely mentioned after the beginning. What I did love, though, was the relationship between Royce and Genesis, and between Royce and Cheyonne while she was pregnant—he gave such perfect big brother energy and balanced both of them out. Overall, it was okay, just could’ve used stronger character development and pacing.

Genesis story picks right up where Royce’s ended. Genesis did not disappoint at all!! The Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and Genesis is not far off from his big brother Royce. I loved the story following Cheyonne. A retired supermodel who lived life with fibromyalgia but didn’t let her health issue stand in the way of her career. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time is how she met Genesis. I love the kidnapping trope, enemies to lovers and this story is that and more! It even gave age gap but not in a weird way. Genesis young a s s cake with it. In a rude attentive way. I don’t want to give too much away but I loved the Cheyonne (Brat) didn’t back down from Genesis or Royce. She went bar for bar with both their asses. The banter between Royce and Genesis had me cackling out loud. Loved their banter.

If you’d read Royce story don’t hesitate to jump right into this one!

Genesis: Forever An Atkins Book 2

Royce and Genesis are two sides of the same coin. They didn't grow up together, but they sure do act like one another. No filter, f#$_&, or damns to give. I am here for it!!!

Genesis aka Black is unhinged and crazy as hell. But he is also loving, loyal, and protective of those he loves. Even though he gave Che hell, I knew he was feeling her. Blessing him with Maaz changed the game for him.

I love when Genesis said, "if I wasn't me, I would definitely be him" speaking on his brother Royce after they found out that Bentley was their cousin.

This series is hella good. Can't wait for Bentley's story, Also, I hope they give Senior a chance.

Genesis gave me everything I needed! 🙌🏾

One thing about Ms. Connie “Cold with the pen” Easton is she is going to write a man that is unhinged but walks that walk they way he talks that talk.

Genesis is indeed Royce’s brother. Good grief that man cut up. He met Cheyonee and immediately gave her the business! He was LIVE and he didn’t take no mess. He was heavy in the streets but when him and Royce came face to face, he didn’t back down but he allowed Royce to be a big brother. I hollered the way he was talking to Cheyonee, but when he had that convo with Iris, I wanted to go hide. He gave that lady all the smoke. 🤭

Miiissssss Eeeeeaaassstttooonn!!! I’m ready for the rest of the tour!

I need to know how they intend to handle Bentley. 😜

⭐️⭐️⭐️3.5/5

I liked the story, but the pacing in this book felt all over the place. The kidnapping and forced proximity worked, especially seeing how gentle Genesis was with the FMC during her fibromyalgia episodes, which made their connection feel real. What didn’t work for me was how long they stayed apart. He’s in jail for a good portion of the book, she’s already in love, and they don’t really reconnect until close to the end, which made the payoff feel rushed. I also didn’t love how Royce barely connected with his brother until it became necessary, when he could have shown up for him much earlier. The story had solid potential, I just wanted more balance and emotional development on page.

Rollercoaster

At first I didn't like Genr a is. Then I got to know him and he just was misunderstood. I loved Cheyonne from the gate. She had a career that she had to step away from because of a debilitatingly painful disease. Genesis and Cheyonne meet thru a burglary/kidnapping and the drama was intense. Genesis was rude, intense and caring all at the same time. Getting to understand him and what all he has gone thru in his childhood because of lies told to him you can see why he's so hard. But facing the consequences of his actions and being confronted by his father clears up a lot of things. I was stressed but kept reading. I enjoyed this very much.

The Atkins Family

When I read Royce I knew I was gonna be fully invested in this series. Let me say first Adele ain’t worth two dead flies and that it on that. Genesis ain’t no push over but Brat folded him real quick lol. I can’t stand how she did him but I’m glad the story didn’t dwell on it.I loved their chemistry. For some reason I love a lil forced proximity and hostage love situation. Royce came through like the boss he was and got his family together and I love that for him and Black. I can’t wait for the next book because i feel like this family has a lot more story to tell. I’m definitely buying physical copies of this series.

Genesis is definitely an Atkins. His reckless mouth matches the reckless mouth of his brother. I will say the pacing of this book caught me off guard a little bit. It started off as a slow burn & then the main thing of the story happens & a couple of chapters later it was like insta love. I also felt like one or both of them should’ve groveled a little bit but of course that’s not in Genesis personality. Overall this book was really good & kept me entertained. I just know Bentley is going to give full on YN energy.

Was a decent read but felt like there was a few bits missing to really complete the story. It was a slow burner which also was hard to follow and keep interested.

It was nice to see the relationship building between Royce and Cheyone, however the relationship between Genesis and Cheyone felt a bit unrealistic.

For the two to sleep together once, pregnant, him going to prison, giving birth and then they are in love - felt rushed.

Along with the ending, I felt like it was clearing up loose ends. I just wanted to know what Genesis was inheriting 😂

Genesis

These Atkins brothers are definitely alike when it comes to how the handling their woman. They ain't coming with nothing but pressure and I am here for it. As crazy as Genesis started he was not playing about Brat. He already liked her from the beginning whether he had Tia and Tamera on her or not. He just had to get it together. What I liked most was the way he treated her during her flare up as a stranger who was committing a crime. Overall really loved this unhinged story because when I say Black was unhinged but Brat just added to it!!!

genesis was disrespectful asf. him repeatedly putting a gun to cheyonne head and then chocking her in a non intimate way threw me off so bad. liked seeing how soft and caring genesis was with cheyonne and maaz. genesis and royce developing a sibling relationship was good to see, also can’t wait to see how they operate while working together. i don’t like hunter and i think genesis should cut ties with me.

genesis mother was nasty and delusional, royce sr and iris were wrong for how they carried out the situation.
interested to see how this bentley situation plays out.

Genesis and Chey

Chey did what she had to do to survive, and honestly, I can’t even be mad at her for it. Now me personally? I wouldn’t have kept it absolutely not, but that’s just me. That YN had her down in the floorboard!! Whew, the stamina was on another level! I do wish there had been more interaction between Genesis and Royce, though. I love me some Royce he wasn’t playing about his brother or his family, and I respect that.
