Ethan Daniels thought he understood love—until fragments of forgotten memories began to haunt him. Shadows of a woman he couldn’t name, echoes of a bond he couldn’t explain.
Then came Dere. Beautiful, mysterious, and carrying secrets carved in sacrifice. She had walked through fire and forest, given up heaven itself, just to find her way back to him. But in the mortal world, love is fragile, and the truth she carries could shatter everything.
As Ethan pieces together the past that fate tried to erase, he realizes this is no ordinary love story—it is destiny. A love that defies mortality. A sacrifice that rewrites fate.
But when love demands the highest price, will he be strong enough to pay it?
Following Odidere: Realms Apart, Hearts Entwined, this sequel continues the journey of love, memory, and destiny.
Testimony time: Sometime ago, Ms. Tobiloba contacted me to read the first book, "Odíderé: Realms apart...hearts entwined," and I was so happy. Then, she told me the book is short, but her second book would be longer. In the first book, I was bulldozed with a cliffhanger. 😂
I thank God for the opportunity of being among the first people to experience "Odíderé 2: Echoes of Fate." All thanks to Pen and Promo Agency.
This book is a masterpiece, no cap!
In book 1, we were introduced to Odíderé and Ethan, how their love came about, and the sin that was committed. We were about to read the judgement, but a cliffhanger happened. In book 2, we read the judgement, Odíderé suffered for her actions, her mother realised her foolishness, and did all she could to save her daughter; but will Odíderé still get her happily ever after? Buy and read this book to find out. 😉
First off, I have to commend the author's descriptive skill. Ms. Tobiloba, you're good. The descriptions, especially the scenes with the gathering of the guardian angels, were so vivid; it felt like I was watching a movie, a Yoruba movie—I said this in my review of the first book. I enjoyed it so much!
Odíderé and Ethan are soulmates, fr, because how do you explain their chemistry? I love their love, despite the fact that it came with ups and downs. The author wrote them so well, that if you wanted to get mad at them, you won't have a choice but to keep loving them. Ethan is a book boyfriend too; he has lines abegg!!! And I love Anna, his daughter; a very smart girl.
I didn't like Tara; she's so manipulative.
In all, this is a good book. If you love stories about forbidden romance, love triangles, loss, grief, and sacrifice, then this book is for you!
What I loved the most about this book is the writing. It was straightforward, smooth, and very easy to get into. And the story? It flowed so well. it was a beautiful continuation, I almost didn’t want it to end.
Book 1 ate and left me salivating for more and now book 2 came richer, longer and left no crumbs.👌 This sequel had me in a CHOKEHOLD. From Odidere’s mother’s sacrifice, to the tension of Ethan’s forgotten memories, to the spiritual weight of their bond. Everything was richer, heavier, and more emotional. But let’s address my frustration as the story progressed: The amnesia romance trope thing. Lord!!! Why must memory play nonsense when people’s hearts are at stake? 😭 And Tara? Sis… go and find your own man. Stop disturbing this reincarnated and ordained love abeg. 🙄 Ana, Ethan’s daughter, was the true MVP. Her presence carried weight and tenderness, grounding the entire story. I adored her so much. ✨ Odidere herself had the patience of Job and the endurance of a celestial warrior. Because if it were me? My heart would have shattered on page five. The slow, agonizing wait for Ethan to remember… it took divine strength, literally. 🥲 In this deeply emotional, destiny-soaked sequel that explores sacrifice, memory, love, and divine consequence, Tobiloba Afolayan expands the world with more magic, more tension, and more heartbreak and somehow still leaves room for hope. 🫶 💖 Favourite quote (and one I think quite sums up the entirety of the story): “Love—the most complicated of them all. It is the thread that binds souls, yet it is the fire that burns them. Love can be so chaotic, yet it carries the calm of a still river. It is so breathtakingly beautiful, yet, when wounded, it reveals the ugliest parts of the heart.” ❗PS: Yes there were more PG scenes in this book. I personally skipped the spicier scenes (like, guys you're not married o! 🫣), but it's clear this series is meant for an 18+ audience. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the meat of the story itself.
First off I must say that I'm loving this African mythology genre and I have Odidere to thank for it. That being said, How do you fall in love with a man you were sent to save? Is the pull of destiny stronger than love?
Odidere is a story on a celestial being sent on a mission to save a man from self destruction. The attraction between both the MC and FC was a sparking chemistry and I knew things were bound to happen but would there be consequences for these "things" ?
And now what? One person is cursed to remember all that was shared And the other cursed to forget all that was shared Two burning hearts with every obstacle you can think of....Did love win?
WHAT I LOVED - The romance was electrifying but not smutty - The time lapse, accuracy and easy flow - The description of the settings and introduction showing real Yoruba history.
Odidere is a story where two worlds collided and two hearts entwined, book one was sweet and ended with a shock and book two showed us that there really is nothing love cannot do even in the face of impossible situations. Tobi Afolayan teased us till the very end.
I still don't know if I read a book or saw a movie, it was vivid!
Awww 🥺 this book!! I genuinely enjoyed every moment of it. I have to say… I now fully forgive the author for how book one ended because she more than made up for it with this book!! The warmth, the intensity, the depth and the story......everything just clicked for me. Ethan? A solid 10/10. I loooved his steadiness, and the emotional weight he carried in this book. Dere and Ethan together had me fully invested......like, completely. And as I got toward the end, I was seriously praying we wouldn’t get another cliffhanger, or a rushed ending, or be forced to wait yet again for everything to resolve 😭😅. But honestly? The ending was perfect. So satisfying. Now the only issue is… I want more 😭💕 This was such a good, heartfelt read and I highly recommend it
What stands out most is the character work. Ethan, especially, feels like a beautifully complex mess - reckless, layered, frustrating, but deeply human. He moves through the story like someone who’s never had to face the aftermath of his decisions… until he finally does. Watching that tension build is one of the most compelling parts of the book.
Tara’s arc, on the other hand, is soft, heavy, and emotional in ways that feel incredibly real. She carries her pain with quiet strength, and every small moment with her lands with weight. Her journey feels like a mix of healing, self-awareness, and the kind of growth that happens reluctantly, one slow step at a time.
Scenes replay in your mind hours later, and certain lines feel like they were written to sit on your chest. Beautifully written.
What makes Odidere so special is how seamlessly it blends Yoruba mythology with a modern-day Nigerian setting. The Eiye Alawo—female guardians sent to guide humans—feel like a divine sisterhood rooted in culture and compassion. Tobi Loba doesn’t just sprinkle mythology into her story; she weaves it into the emotional fabric of every scene, making the spiritual elements feel both powerful and intimate.
This is African fantasy done right—mythic but modern, magical but deeply human.
And the book 2 show more on the sacrifice and all the things we do for love
