As Ren awakens from poison's haze, she quickly realizes death would have been kinder. Entangled in an ancient prophecy and cursed with a gift she cannot tame, it seems the worst has found her. But when she's reunited with a past she vowed to forget, Ren discovers this is only the beginning of the gods' wicked games.
The journey ahead? It just might break her. Running from the Continent's cruelest through bustling cities and across dangerous sands, burdened with an impossible task, and faced with temptations she knows better than to indulge, Ren will be tested at every turn.
The dark god seeks submission or promises pain. Should she accept the violence thrumming through her veins? Or fight fate's pull once more?
Whichever path Ren chooses will surely bear consequences. The question is: what will she lose along the way?
Above all things, I am a mood writer. I love jumping from genre to genre, trying out different tenses and POVs, and pushing my writing outside of my comfort zone.
After self-publishing my debut novel SLICE in 2023 (a horror/thriller), I knew I wanted to write full-time. So, I opened up my laptop and got to work. The only problem? I was stuck between two ideas: a new horror novel, and the fantasy novel I couldn't get out of my head. So, I figured—why not write both?
Thus, my life as a mood writer was born.
My goal for writing is the same reason that I read: to feel. Whether you’re internally screaming at a character’s stupidity, gasping at a plot twist, or blushing at steamy banter, I want it all. Fall into a story and let it consume you. Rediscover parts of yourself through characters. Stay up all night to escape the world for a bit. If I can achieve that (and maybe sell a few books along the way), I’ll have lived a good life.
When I'm not writing until dawn, I enjoy watching horror movies, solo traveling, wandering around art museums, hiking, and shopping at local bookstores.
Caedis does it again! Our fearless FMC, Ren, once again finds herself in intense, high-stakes situations, and I loved every second of it. The storytelling is immersive and as always, the story on the page transformed into a full-blown feature film in my mind. Every bead of sweat, every spray of sand, I could see it all so clearly. We dive deeper into the characters we’ve grown to love, with more witty banter, intense fights, long journeys, expanding powers, and even the return of someone we thought was long gone.
The bustling city of Hira, the vast Jahaer Desert, the looming Kohe Mountains... every detail just keeps expanding this incredible world Caedis has created.
The attention to detail shines, from the expanding map notations to the daemon markings. And emotionally? I was wrecked. One moment in particular had me wiping my face just to keep reading (but no spoilers here). Caedis truly knows how to tug at the heartstrings, whether through devastating heartbreak, a moment of betrayal, or teasing us with a love interest I am absolutely rooting for.
The cover artwork is stunning as well, packed with fun details pulled straight from the story. I cannot wait to see where Book 3 takes us!
